  • Bill shows you how to install a Ford Tooling Dash Pad on your 1965 Mustang.
    Purchase Product Here:
    www.cjponyparts.com/dash-pad-...
    Our next installation on our Weekend Wrench project car is to replace the crack and used dash pad. This pad is made from the original Ford tooling for a superior shape and fitment and even has the Ford logo embossed on the inside.
    To install the new pad, you'll need to remove all brackets and your dash speaker. Once all the brackets and studs have been removed, you'll need to also remove the clips holding in the defroster vents.
    While the dash pad is removed, this is the perfect time to replace the defroster hose and duct mounts.
    To install the new dash pad on your 1965 Mustang, simply place it in the correct location and secure it with your brackets. Make sure to replace the dash trim around the pad. Once the dash pad is in place and secured, make sure the front edge of the vinyl from the pad is underneath the window weather stripping. Then, replace the window molding. Total installation takes 1.5 to 2 hours.

    Just installed one UGH........... Here's 3 tips.First draw small lines on the outside of the windshield as to where the screw holes are. Then notch the dash pad where the screws go thru the top trim. A long magnetic phillips screwdriver. Also a 12 pk of your fav brew.

    Y'all should've gave an example of when the old dash pad was warped and melted onto the metal, a more realistic example of what people would deal with when they do it themselves, I am replacing mine right now, let me tell you it takes some scraping to get it all off instead all in one piece like the one in the video!

    I bought one of these Ford Tooling Dash Pads for my 65 Mustang. Unfortunately the holes do not line up so I need to drill some holes into the metal. What's up with that?!

  • @billtumas5826
    @billtumas5826 Před 11 lety

    The 66 is similar but different. The center of the dash comes down further and yes there are tabs on the outside as well.The trim at the top of the dash is the same but not the chrome trim.

    We would have liked to have had a car with a much more typically beat up dash pad but we had to work with what we had at the time.

    Looks easier than I thought. Any more difficult with a '65 with factory A/C?

      The unit should be under the dash so the install is the same.

    I just got a Ford Tooling Dash Pad, but it didn't come with the screws to install it. What size screws are needed to put it in?

    Hey Bill! I want to replace the faux carbon fiber front facia that is along the entire front and passenger side with REAL carbon fiber. So far unable to find anyone who sell this.

  • @sungphoto

    I think the 66 is a little different - my dash pad had a couple tabs on the sides that were bolted on. Also, I'm not sure if the 66 had the chrome trim holding it in.

  • @administrativespecialist7183

    My dash pad didn't come with the 2 studs. Instead, it just has 2 raised "pins" about 1/8" in length.

    The Ford replacement for the 66 coupe did not come with any new screws or nuts. The nuts I ordered from you do not fit the studs. There are no pre drilled holes anywhere and there is no chrome pieces around the interior. Other that all that it looks great sitting in there.

    Its not too Easy, the inferior dash trim are very weak and never fits easily . It’s a pain in the a... the installation .
    Of course...to do an excellent work.

    For some odd reason the drivers side of my new dash doesn't fit flush. Is that normal or do I need to take it off and reinstall? I can't get the metal pieces at the back screwed in due to it not being flush. Thanks.

    • @billtumas9642
      @billtumas9642 Před 9 lety

      That can be one of the trickest parts of the install. I would loosen the screws on the other side so you get a little play and see if that works. The screw closest to the pillar can be difficult.

    @7:45 see how ling that screw is? Why is it you sell screws for the dash pad trim piece that are almost 1/2 inch shorter. Your "eh close enough" Taiwan made crap is dragging you guys down.
