Was just filling up a few nights ago, and wondering if there was something like this available! Thanks for the vid as always!
Glad to help!
Thank you for the video this is my next upgrade to my 65 Great Job Andy :)
No problem 👍
Got mine yesterday! He was super fast! And clocked top correctly so cap fits perfectly straight! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome, that's great to hear. :)
I can’t believe I never knew about this. Thanks!
Happy to pass on the this of cool tech. :)
Simple, quick, easy, effective. Sounds a lot like my love life. Lol!!! Thanks for sharing Andy.
You bet! :)
Great product! I think I’ve overfilled practically everytime I’ve filled up! 😂 Thanks for sharing Andy. I’m in the process of adding a EFI system right now w/ a new tank so this is a perfect time to upgrade!
Nice, timing is everything! :)
Converted a few of these by making the cut and installing the flapper and welding it up. Good to see someone found a way to swage them in for the guy with no welder.
Yeah, it's a pretty decent product. :)
The reason they made the flapper was because in the 60s there was no unleaded gas , all gas contained lead, when unleaded came out , they did not want you to run regular fuel in unleaded cars, hence the flapper. The nozzle was larger for leaded fuels and would not fit cars that ran unleaded, they used the smaller nozzle.
You're probably correct,. :)
Fantastic, never knew there was a product like that. Spilt lots of gas in my time witj the old filler.
Yes, it's very nice to have. :)
Definitely need one. Will order.
Yeah, it's a pretty slick upgrade. :)
Used the same guy last year, works great on my 68 coupe
Nice! 🙂
Great idea, thanks for video.
You bet!
It's also good insurance to add an extra gasket. It keeps the cap out a bit further to ensure it doesn't come in contact with your paint.
Good to know. 🙂
Installed and it’s great 🎉
Yeah, it's one of those things I wish I found several years ago. :)
Great stuff!!
Thanks!
nice upgrade. Just last week I over-filled my '65 early in the day and by noon the heat had expanded the fuel to the point it was leaking out of the filler neck. That backflow gate will ensure the pump shuts off before things get that full.
Yeah, it sounds like this device could help a lot of people. :)
Another simple mod I did was get rid of the flat shifter bezel look and make a nice looking one, I used a 1969 automatic shifter bezel and you cut the dome off of it by machining it down and leave about 3/8", (Wish I could post a picture of what it looks like). So you still have the 5/8" base PLUS and extra 1/4-3/8" of the dome remaining. Then you just get longer screws and you still use the rubber accordion boot for the shifter itself and install the newly cut 69 bezel over it, I still use the flat bezel to help hold down the boot but then its done and looks custom too.
Yeah, it's pretty cool all the custom designs we can come up with to make these cars just a pinch nicer. :)
Thanks to this video and the comments I think I figure out why my 65 Falcon was poring gas out of the rear shortly after filling the tank. When I look while the car was park I couldn't find any leaks. My son was driving behind me and say that he saw gasoline poring out the rear.
Glad it helped. :)
I'm not trying to steal your thunder but I hacked a pvc check valve into my fill neck hose when I was 18 on my first 65. I miss the 90's. My reason was a little different. When I would do donuts with 1/2 tank or more a bit of gas would come out of my cap. Not the same reason but the result is the same. Great product Andy!
Edit: last 2 videos you sounded a bit congested, hope you're feeling all right man.
Thunder not stolen, there's all kinds of good ideas out there, and people need to do what they feel is best for their car. :)
Battled a cold for a while, but we're back in business. Thanks!
Just filled the other and was thinking someone has to have made this already. Then your video popped up.
Yeah, it's a pretty slick upgrade, I'm glad I did it. :)
❤Thank you for sharing this God bless you
You are so welcome. :)
I have had a bunch of old Mustangs. Have 2 65s and a 67 now. Only one that was a pain to gas up was a 67 convertible. Had to fill it slow or it would splash out on you.
Yeah, I wish Ford had something like this back then, but we're good now. :)
This is the third one of these altered inlets for first gen Mustangs I have seen on CZcams. All installers were very happy with them. My 66 Mustang was my daily driver from 1975 until 1986 when I did a mild restore. I never had an issue with the old filler neck. So while I see some advantage....I'll pass for now. Thanks!
It's one of those things that you deal with because that's how it is. Then when you find someone modify it and make it better, you realize you've been missing out all this time. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel Yep.....after driving her for 48 years......my norm is longer than some owners have been alive!!!!!
@@davevan8864 I've driven Mustangs since 1976. The old fuel fillers suck and only a masochist would stick with them
@@drewschumann1 Thanks for being judgmental AND jealous of my skills. Have a Blessed day.
My bad, I found the “description “ below. Thanks for the great information.
No problem. 😁
That’s AWESOME
I agree. :)
Waaoow - Superb Andy. - I have just started the resto of my 1970 Cougar convertible, and if this part fit I will like to buy one of these. - Thank you Andy : )
Yeah, it's a nice upgrade for these classic cars. I put the info of where to buy this in the description of the video. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel Thank you Andy 😎
Your videos are awesome
Thank you so much 😀
🫡Perfect. I didn’t know these existed. I always have to clean gas off my bumper after fill ups if I don’t catch it in time. Definitely have to invest in this. Thanks for sharing this🫱🏻🫲🏾
No problem 👍
That nut's a pain to get to isn't it!? Awesome upgrade that'll save your back from having to lean over & see if the tank is full. If it still rubs you can also double up on the gasket.
Yeah, I didn't like needing to be super focused to the gas level while filling the tank, this is much better. :)
What I did on my 1967 Mustang Coupe is. I took a factory gas neck from a 1967/1972 Ford F-100 which are pretty much a straight pipe. I found a aluminum sauce pan that's about 4 inches deep. Drilled a hole for the pipe used a factory style rubber gas for a 67/72 F-100 .Bolted the pan handle to the latch body in the trunk and called it good. It's my version of what the Shelby's used back in the 60's on the GT 350'S. To fill in the factory hole I cut an extra stock filler neck bolted it in place put the stock cap back on and it's done.
Clever! :)
@@AndyKruseChannel Thanks.
Make a video.
Great idea I think it could be manufactured a little different perhaps not needing sealant?. I have never had a problem maybe I had good practice with my first car being a 68 mustang. I am surprised so many people have a problem putting fuel in their car. I will make the modification but it is low on my list at this moment.
Maybe not a problem putting fuel in the car, but the hassle of needing to make sure it doesn’t spill over.
Based on all the self admitting comments in the videos comments, forums and other CZcams video comments. Houston we got a problem.😂😅
@@samrotolo7303 You may think you don't have problems putting fuel in your car, but you are either a liar or only use one fuel pump. I drive my vintage mustang and some pumps are next to impossible to cleanly fuel. You can shove your condescending attitude up your *ss.
What! no action shot of filling the tank? haha, i did see this on Ben Kahan. Ordered!
Yeah, I saw Ben's video too and I knew I had to have one. :)
That's genius. It must make filling the car so much easier. When I fill my car I crouch down so I can hear how full it is before it overflows.
Same, now it's not an issue. :)
You beat me to it haha! I have a video planned too lol
Yeah, when you find a good product, gotta put it on the car. :)
I checked your site and didn’t see them available are they coming soon? Would be nice to set and forget the pump finally. I’d put this in both my mustangs and the Falcon they are all the same. Except the one I upgraded to the 22 gallon tank but I think I can buy the 70 neck for that one.
I don’t sell them, but I did put the info of where to buy them in description below the video.
Hi Andy,
Great video, thanks. I am ordering but wondered which specific filler neck you ordered (eg zinc plated?), did you order an insert kit, if so which one? Did you order the fuel tank to filler neck nose hose? Thanks
Yes, zinc plated and with the backsplash piece already installed. I re-used my stock filler hose piece, but I did buy a new cork gasket where the filler neck mounts to the rear valence on the car. The part number for that gasket is C5ZZ-9076-A. :)
Thanks for the rapid response.
Sitting here watching your video on your right rear passenger wheel debacle. Ugh!
Oh gosh I gotta do that cause once I get to 12-14 gallons in the I start to put my ear up to it judge it off of that then slowly til “it sounds full” I get frustrated when it backsplash’s onto the tail light panel like why did I do that again lol
You and I are in the same boat. :)
Andy! my mustang is 1965. I need your opinion! The car starts perfectly. It's iddling fine on Park! but it died when i put to D. Do you have any experience on this?
It might be your idle mixture screws as the engine has to work harder once in gear (when you're not moving and not pressing the accelerator pedal). When in gear, the torque converter is steeling all the thunder from the engine until you give it enough gas to overcome that parasitic draw. If you had a pinch more fuel at that point (before you press the accelerator pedal), I bet the engine would stay alive. Try redoing your idle mixture screws (I have a video on that), but once you're done adjusting them while in park, have someone sit in the car with their foot firmly on the brake, put it in gear, and back each screw out a tiny bit (1/2 turn?) and see if it keeps the engine alive. :)
Love this. I tried emailing to get info but there has been no response.
Yeah, I've heard that quite a bit. I don't personally know him, but his product is good. :)
Firewall behind the backseat
What?
I am excited about this product! I emailed Doug, but haven't heard back yet. How much is it? Hope I hear from him soon!
Yeah, it's a nice upgrade to these cars. You'll hear from him, he probably got a few emails in the last day. :)
I emailed him too
Couple of days ago haven’t heard hope he gets back to
Me
this may stop kick back splash at the pump but is does not fix the real problem witch is you still can not fill the car at full speed and all pumping stations do have different speed pumps a vented filler neck fixes this you need to add a 3/8 to 1/2 inch vent hose in the filler neck with a check valve, just like your daily has built in its filler neck
Do I smell a follow up video? :)
I'm guess aftermarket gas tanks that come with the filler neck have that?
Don't know, I've never seen one that does, but that doesn't mean they don't have them. :)
Are these still available anywhere? Didn’t see the link.
Email contact is in the description below the video.
Wow from where I can order it to Europe? thank you ,
Like I said in the video, the info is in the description below the video. :)
Hey Andy, so i recently installed an one piece cam eccentric for my mechanical fuel pump. I went to crank it up and get no fuel. The pump is old but works (i tested it) i know i have fuel from the tank to the pump. Is there any quirks with mechanical fuel pumps?
You probably already confirmed that eccentric covers the same path as the stock unit, so it should be actuating your pump. Long shot, but when you installed the pump, did you make sure the pump lever is below the cam and not above it before you bolted it in place?
@@AndyKruseChannel interesting. I’ll take a look today and see.
Andy,
Can you share a link, product name and part number to your middle console? That appears to be an ideal size for me. Thx
Sorry boss, I don't have one, I bought it off Ebay a few years ago.
@@AndyKruseChannel Thanks
Heard of these but unfortunately the cougar is slightly different
Get out the hacksaw and the welder! :)
I emailed him about this. Haven't heard back. What do the ones like yours cost?
He might have received a lot of email in the last few days, I'd give him some time. :)
Can’t seem to find the link…🤔
It’s just the contact info. 🙂
Don’t see a link. Is it still available?
The contact info is in the description below the video.
Did you sign the waiver?
Affirmative. :)
Well here is what happened to me my 1973 mercury Cougar turns out it has a baffle build into it so this wont work in my car after contacting the maker of part Doug
Sorry to hear that. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel yea i was really looking forward to that filler because i still spill when i fill up lol but oh well may be he will start producing them without sending yours in totally custom thanks and happy new year
Doesn’t the tank need to be vented?
This doesn't change how the original tank was vented, it's just a backsplash guard while filling up the tank.
I am not seeing the link.
I never said anything about a link, I said I'd put the "information of where to get them" in the description.
Is that guy still selling those gas filler tubes? I sent him a email about purchasing a gas filler tube with the insert but got no reply.
Yes, but he might be trying to field a bunch emails right now. I don't personally know him, but I am happy with the product. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel I will wait and see. I am glad the product is good.
Did you ever get a reply? I just emailed him and wondering if he will respond as I have seen alot of comments about no response. Thanks.
How much is it
You’ll need to email the guy I reference in the details below the video. 🙂
How much is this?
I put the contact info for the guy who sells this in the description below the video.
Where do I send my money?
Check the description below the video. :)
you spelled that wrong on purpose, right?
The funny thing I saw that several weeks ago when I uploaded the video and I told myself I need to fix that before it goes live. Clearly I forgot. :)
How much do they go for?
I bought it almost a yea ago and it was $123 shipped. :)
That. Is. Awesome! I only wish you would have taken us to the gas station with you to see how it worked, Andy! Thanks so much. Ordering one now…
If I put everything in one video, what will the next video be on?
@@AndyKruseChannel well, I’d love to find a way to use your adjustable alternator bracket to keep tension on my Vintage Air A/C compressor. Could we collaborate and do a video on that? Many of us 6 cyl guys have issues with it, but I know we’re largely looked down on in the Mustang world so there may not be much in it for you… Already emailed Doug on the filler neck though! Can’t wait to get my hands on one!
Hello banks412. How did you order? I've tried emailing him with no response. Thanks!
@@kdog622 I haven’t actually ordered. I just emailed the address Andy gave in the video. I really hope he responds. Would be a shame to miss the opportunity. Andy, anything you can do to help us out?
