    Stuart, watching your son bring the spitfire back was priceless, he's adorable! Nice flight demonstration. I fly scale models and this is a winner in the military category. Well done friend.

    Just got the 1600mm Spitfire earlier week, got it built Saturday night and got to maiden this evening. After purchasing the Flightline 1600mm a few weeks ago I was blown away how well it flew and didn’t think I needed the big Spitfire because nothing was going to top the WOW factor of the Corsair and the ease to fly. And of course I was wrong.... as always... The Spitfire, though a little harder to takeoff and land, was dialed in in about 30 seconds. I went with the Spektrum AR637T and had three Flight Modes, but never left Flight Mode 1 (no stability) other than to see if the other 2 modes were working. 5 minutes on the timer and all 6 flights came in between 46%-51% left on the battery.
    (Three 5000’s, Three 6000’s)
    The prop torque was worse for me on the takeoffs than the Corsair and the landings were just tough with it being a cross-windy day. But all in all, just one of the best planes, if not THE BEST I’ve ever flown. Once in the air it was like going back to my Trainer days, just with a faster/prettier plane.
    Hats off to MotionRC and Flightline. Both the 1600mm Corsair and Spitfire is as good as it gets!

    As much as people dislike foamies, they came to stay. Am a glow head, but the practicality of electric systems, airplanes, repair, its the best selling point. And foamies don't look toyish anymore, Motionrc catalogue is difficult to overlook. Balsa is as close you can get in realism, mount a DLE, and enjoy, but that when it runs right, and there are no other issues. For those days I want to grab and go and go warbird, this is one awesome plane on the 1600mm brushless line.

    Hi Stuart, I wrote that this was the best huge foam spitfire ever made, and it was a a significant commercial success from Motion RC-Flightline. I know you are a very capable RC pilot so I expect a long inverted flight down the airfield soon ... for me ... of course by the Spitfire 1600. Thank you for demo-battery CoG flight. Greetings from Croatia.

    Hello Stewart and greetings from the US. I definitely enjoyed your second Touch and Go without flaps. Your son looks like the perfect size for bringing your warbird back to the pits! Looks like the new 6000 would be even better for the CG. Cheers and happy flying!

    MG imitation is right off the movie "Battle of Britain" where Skipper is training a newbie "Before Jerry has you for breakfast!" Anyway, great job Stuart, I found the same thing with mine until I made her nose heavy at the recommended CG. I added 2.5 oz (70 gm which was 10x7 gm lead weight pads) so now I can put a 4500 6s battery all the way forward and the 5000 slightly back and she flies totally different in a good way!!

    Fantastic model, my mate had one well two actually, first model crashed on 2nd flight, no fault of his, flying straight 70% throttle and for no reason rolled right and spiralled into the ground, no control whatsoever. Rebuilt it, flew 3 times then same thing again, this time crashing into a tree. Turns out the ESC was at fault. BEC overheating wiping out receiver power. Emailed RC motion and agreed to supply a new model. First thing exchange the ESC for a 100amp Turnegy model, plane flew fine for over 80 flights then rudder servo shredded itself and jammed to the right, managed to do a circular circuit and landed but flame flipped over damaging wing tips. New wings and flying again, no more than 20 flights then lost radio connection and ended up in a field wrecked again, I blame the admiral receiver for that one, I did tell him to scrap it and fit a proper spektrum receiver. Now it’s just a pile of broken foam in his garage. Nice model though!!!!

    I had a relative (now deceased) who flew 488 combat missions over Europe in Spitfires during WW2. Before he passed away in 2013, we often spoke about flying Spitfires (me my models, him the real thing) and one thing he did say was that he never used flaps for take off. He said that the flaps of that period were more "air brakes" and they were used only for landing.

    • @JohnyG29
      @JohnyG29 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, the Spitfire's flaps were either fully up or fully down. They didn't have any intermediate settings.

  • @RupertatNutwood
    @RupertatNutwood Před 4 měsíci

    Could you explain your tip starting at 3.43 about reducing torque by 'slowing down the servo rate on the ESC by a millisecond'. Do you mean you programmed in a soft start? The ESC that comes with the kit has 3 settings for soft start: 300 ms, 1.5 and 3.0 seconds. So I'm rather confused but I like the idea. Maybe you're using a different ESC? Motion RC support couldn't help me because they said they'd never heard of such a thing. Can you explain this tip more fully please? Most grateful. Happy landings. ;-)

    Got this spit for christmas. Nice plane. Havent flown it yet. What really annoys me is that there are too many parts that need to be glued onto the plane. I have other planes from freewing, like the Me262, where everthing is screwed and nothing glued. This is especially bad in case of the tail. The servos for rudder and elevator should have been installed in the tail and the tail put onto the plane via a click and plug mechanism. This way, the tail could have been removed each time for transport, and the spit would have been short enough to get it in any hatchback without taking off the wings. This solution would have been much better.

    What is the C rating on this 5100mAh on Li-Po? Also what type of Connector is on the ESC? I have all Specktrum 6S 5000mAh 30C and 50C G2 Batteries. Do you think the Batteries would be sufficient for this airframe? Thank you in advance! Very nice flying!!! 👏👏👏👍😃
