2024 update! New piano tutorials and sheet music coming soon: emergencypianohotline.com
I was in a bar in Florida and they had an empty piano sitting there. In walked a very large Russian guy speaking broken English and he asked the bartender if he could play the piano. He started playing popular show tunes and no one was really paying attention to him . He seen me looking at him and he said to me what would you like to hear and I said I'm sure you don't know the music that I like and he replied try me. I said Pink Floyd. He started with Comfortably Numb and played about 10 songs by Floyd before he left. I asked the bartender who he was and he said I have no idea I've never seen him before. It was great almost like a ghost walked in ( kidding ) played Pink Floyd and then disappeared. It was an interesting night that I enjoyed immensely.
Sounds like a very good evening indeed...
tackless did you buy the man a drink?
@@thegreenwave6741
As a matter of fact I bought him at least two drinks it could have been three but I'm not sure. But whatever it was I was glad to do it as I was thoroughly entertained and almost mesmerised by how great he sounded. I would have never thought you can play Floyd like that on the piano.
tackless That's cool!
What songs did he played?
If you release an ablum of classic rock songs like pink floyd, i 100% will buy it
Totally agree
I'll buy a pink Floyd one
Ditto
Amen me too!!
What bout copyright??? He just do not be able to sell this masterpiece(
This channel is my comforting place where I go when life hits too hard. I spent months listening your Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Radiohead a Bowie covers when my brother passed away. Two years later my father passed away too and I am back here… because your music carries me thru the worst feelings of grief and loneliness. My heart is broken from being so sad and miserable. When I reach the point where I feel like I cant take it anymore I just go here and cry and cry for many hours while listening. Music heals my soul. Especially these songs because they are my, brother’s and father’s favorite.
I could never express how thankful I am for sharing your work. It really means a lot. Thank you.
You’re most welcome. I’m glad you’ve found it helpful during those tough times x
I'm 6:15 in. Long week. Long month. Long few years, if I'm honest.
I'm crying.
Thank you.
i undstend u,
Stay strong man
I know this comment is 11 months old, but I really hope things have been looking up for you.
Joyce Wible in 11 months i think everything is okay for him or i wish
@@VisHis5 That's the hope, but he said he'd been having a rough few years, so you never know.
Your improvisational style would work really well with Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Oh man, I'd literally kill to see that.
Oui moi aussi
Alex Tryon RIGHT!!!!!
His style would also work with every song ever.
@@AA-sn9lz CALM DOWN xd
-"You can't play the solo without a guitar"
-"Hold my piano."
Francesco Munzo you can play any music on any instrument
Like you can say any sentence with any voice
This comment makes no sense, no one said that...
Yes yes, I mean that solo
Facts bro - I didn’t think it could be done. This was legit.
If someone will hold my piano, how would I play on it? 🤔
The translation of this possibly-best ever David Gilmour solo into an ethereal piano piece is otherworldly. Bravo Sir.
I love hands. The way they move, their shape, their curves and edges, their veins, their bone structure, their skin, the unique lines in the palms... I admire what they can do. Hands are beautiful, definitely my favorite human body part. Elegance in action.
Some types tho.
I must confess that at the beginning I was not quite sure where you were going, but then you BLEW MY MIND!....as usual awesome cover. Every detail is there...if Gilmour played the piano he would have done the same.
David can play the piano amongst other instruments!👍
Same here. But, then, WOW!
there’s always been something so moving about Pink Floyd’s music.
Inventive ending section, and I know how hard it is to make guitar bends sound right on a keyboard with fixed notes, but a great interpretation of a classic song. More like this please.
This proves that the guitar solo in comfortably numb is incredible anywhere
I've never clicked so fast!
You most likely won't see this after all these years, but I have to say, this is amazing.
Most covers of songs with singing usually end up being: chords with left hand, singing melody played note-by-note with right hand. You on the other hand (pun unintended) implemented both, and more, perfectly, it doesn't sound sloppy at all. And you also paid attention to getting the reverbs right. I have no idea about music theory and such but if this isn't great musicianship, I don't know what is. Perfect arrangement. Sounded a lot like the original song, but of course with a different flavour. Like an original piano piece.
Thanks for the kind words ✌️
God the lower register of that piano is unreal and Josh makes great use of it.
Perfection, do Echoes Next
Would be a hell of a challenge
Totally agree--Echoes would be so epic.
It'd be an hour long.
There'd just be a 5 minute section in the middle where he's playing the top 4 keys haha.
@@dawsonbryant2250 bing! Bing! Bing! Blang!
I love the slow departure of the hands at the end of every video. it's a beautiful conclusion.
What begins as a soft slow burn transcends to a fantastic climax which gradually and seemingly effortlessly grinds back down to a soft and delicate finish. This song, just like the rest of your covers takes on a whole life of its own. Perfection at its finest. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world.
as a piano player, I love that I can see all his fingers all the time
There are some people in this world who are on a different level... So gifted, and so talented - you are one of those human beings who makes me step back and think, "Oh wow. This is what we are capable of".
Exactly. I wish I were this good at literally anything lol.
@@MattH-wg7ou These people are not gifted, or at least most of them arent. Life gives you so many skills to master. You can litteraly do whatever you want, you just have to work hard. What would happen if you played piano 3 hours a day? Where would you be in 5 years?
I'm glad I realized that at such a young age.
Edit: english is not my mothertongue, I'm trying to improve, feel free to correct me :)
Your comment contradicts itself but nice sentiments
I have loved all your Radiohead/Floyd/Bowie covers, I can tell we have very similar taste in music. But I was always hoping for a Comfortably Numb cover and now you have finally delivered. Bravo sir, this is absolutely stunning. No idea how you managed to play that Dave Gilmour solo on piano but by God you have done it.
He protec
He attac
But most importantly
He came back
brutallyhonest123 you lead the way ;)
I absolutely fucking love your covers! Love how melody just smoothly melts into the song. This is one my favourite songs from The Wall. You have so much talent, it’s unreal. Keep up the great work. x
I absolutely fucking love your covers!** (Sorry, couldn't resist correcting that)
Hersik lmaoooo I didn’t even realise. Don’t be sorry. Thanks for correcting me.
@@aiimenkhan realize :)
baking bread I thought you can spell it both ways..
@@aiimenkhan I am not native speaker either I am from Germany so I don't know, just corrected it for the joke:-D
its like you can make the piano sing the lyrics..... awesome cover.
This is one of those songs that doesn't seem like it would translate well onto a piano, but you've done an amazing job!
I’ve always adored your piano covers.I wish you would do it more often. Now I am going to listen to this like two thousand times.
Me too also
Thank you Josh, you never know how happy your cover make me
My 4-year old fell asleep to this and asked me the next day to play this again for him.. I also found this to be very relaxing
If your unable to follow along listen to 4:50 and it’ll put you right back on track.... true PF fans know that feeling. Love it. Great job!
Indeed 👌✨
when i first opened this, i thought "noone can do good cover of this, but let's see". BUT it's such an beautiful and amazing cover !! I absolutely love it and can't stop to listen. THANK YOU!
As with all of your Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Bowie covers, you have truly managed to capture the full essence of this masterpiece. All the instruments and vocals, they are all represented somehow, and that is without a doubt the hardest thing about making a good piano cover. And you master it everytime. Thank you − keep the inspiration coming!
정말 멋져요👍
when i am nervous or sad such covers make me forget about everything
I love the shooting angle
The black and white adds so much
I just watched the Pink Floyd movie "The Wall" yesterday. I've always liked Pink Floyd and that movie made me like them that much more. It was all like a strange fever dream almost
The best part is when you replay it. Soo deep.
Wow Josh, what an incredible version of an amazing song - never expected to hear David Gilmour's solo being played so beautifully on piano. Thanks for sharing this!
The second solo got me teared up. Beautiful work.
Wow. Just wow.
This is phantastic. I love this song and the music of Pink Floyd. I never before heard it that way and I like it very much.
Thank you so much for that wonderful piece!
I am seventeen and play the piano for 11 years. It always has "just" been a hobby, but during the last year I realized how much music gives me...
At the moment I am very busy with school, but I am glad I find the time to play about 2 hours a day.
You played Pink Floyd so beautiful, thanks for the wonderful 11 minutes!
Most welcome ✌️
Same here. Im 17 and im just in love with playing but i have a lot of school stuff...
Grandissimo!!
So dynamic. So much in this song to enjoy. I really love how your interpretation brings out new facets of the music. 👌
Awesome! Really thought this channel was dead, so glad it's not!
I thought so too, but when you think about it, I bet it takes some time to make such amazing half-improvised covers :)
I love this
Simply sublime. Thanks for sharing that with the world.
So much emotion in this
BEAUTIFUL cover, gorgeous rendition of a classic, and incredible pianowork.
This was truly breathtaking 🎹💓
i wish i could improvise like you. Your cover sounds amazing!
Simply beautiful.
Que maravilha de versão. Ótima, nota mil....
Music is magic
Good to see you back Josh, this is my *numb* er one Pink Floyd song
The meaning behind the song becomes even more profound and potent in this version. The sadness and desperation feels even more tactile here. This is an incredible piece
Beautiful interpretation and performance. Hope to see more Pink Floyd on your channel.
Man, when this gets going it's so good.
Thanks, Andrew ✌️
Ngl, I wasn't sure where it was going at first but fucking blew me away when it kicked off!!!! Incredible. So glad I stuck around for the rest. The pre-solo is spectacular and the main solo is phenomenal!!!!! So well done. I appreciate this a lot!
I get so excited when I see you have a new cover. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us!
The solo was completely mesmerizing
Best version i have ever heard... Absoloute pure genius.
i'm still crying, it's a beautiful
Your improvisation is so beautiful, thanks a lot
Fabuloso, muchas gracias
Having learnt to play this song on guitar, it is absolutely amazing how you've picked up on every technical nuance in the song. Breathtaking..!
sHello,
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on
Now
I hear you're feeling down
I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like
Two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain
You would not understand
This is not how I am
I... Have become comfortably numb
O. K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on
It's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I... Have become comfortably numb
(Solo)
rana el husiney thanks google. We know the lyrics
Timeless
One of the best Songs and the best Cover. Beautiful...
Its a tuff day for me today. But laying in my sofa this evening and listen to this song is... i cant even explain what this music do to me. I dont have a good backround to remember any good times and i dont know anything about the future. Not thinking about the life just thinking about.. everything
I'm suddenly so emotional. I really want to learn how to play the piano and this video was the first to pop up. I love the wall most if their music from that album make me sad but your playing tied in made me even more sad great job!
Uau , parabéns!!!!
Your covers just make my life better. Please don't stop doing them...
oh my god the chorus sounds even better through this medium.
Been expecting this for so long and you delivered phenomenally!
This is so amazing Josh, uncanny skill and arrangement. I always fall in love with each and every cover that you upload. Keep doing these pieces of art forever, thanks.
That‘s absolutely incredible! You are so talented and picked the one song I love the most from the entire album
I literally googled “comfortably numb piano” earlier today looking for someone like you playing it. What a coincidence that you uploaded your version a couple hours later!
I've waited for this all my life.
Love the little frill after "a little pin prick", spot on!
YES!!!! You uploaded it. So happy to see a new cover. And that solo..... AWESOME.
I mean, there really isn’t anything to add. This is phenomenal work. The solo was riveting. Well done, brother.
Do one of Echoes by Pink Floyd. Absolutely stunning piece!
Plz
Simply speechless....
Woooow, best performance!
It took me a moment to recognize the song, but, after...
Wooow
That's really really really beautiful
Great job ! Thank you !
HE'S BACK! and couldn't have picked a better song!
Just brilliant.
Fantastico. 👏👏👏👏
Extra points for framing the piano perfectly within the frame !
Amazing
Magnífico!!
I now have a whole new level of respect for the piano that was just awsome BRAVO ! !
So glad to hear you again.
This is beautiful, perhaps one of the best piano pieces that I've heard on one of my favorite songs of all time. The one thing that I dislike is that the whole thing is in a major key. The part that I really like from comfortably numb is the punch from the switch between minor, major, and minor again. It really highlights the mood swing between harsh reality and an ethereal dream state.
This is my fave Pink Floyd song and this does it justice, also that is a beautiful piano
I loved singing along to this, fantastic cover....wow
Amazing, so excited for the Radiohead book!!!!
First of all, Wow. Your fingers created an incredible sound on the piano. You have done a great thing by not transposing the vocals and rest of the song note by note and rendering the song in your own way. It's beautiful. There's an underlying tone of classical piano music through and through the whole composition. Love it. Beautiful, beautiful performance.
Thanks very much ✌️
This is one of my favorite Pink Floyd tracks. Great use of finesse throughout the cover; I was particularly impressed with how well you represented the guitar solos. Well done!
