- A bonus video on the dark aspects found in Yoshi's Story on Nintendo 64! This time, I talk about something in the game that used to scare me as a child: the baby-Yoshi devouring Big Blurps found in the Jungle Puddle level.

This is so wholesome! I remember making books like this for Thomas the Tank Engine! I'd be happy for a sequel!
I'd also like to see this channel's take on the Metroid games or The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker!
The Wind Waker or Twilight Princess will be the next Zelda game I cover for Dark Aspects! Metroid is also on the list...I'll try to remember and update you when they're on the way, but I think there's a good chance of them coming out before the end of the year 😁 thanks for your input on this video, that's so cool you also made books based on things you loved!
@@ThaneGaming if twilight princess is next, it’s gonna be a long video…
YESS PLEASE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE OF THESE BOOKS!!! This episode was amazing and it really struck a cord with me, its a "time capsule" from your youth! And that endcard was really nice because I LOVE RED YOSHIIII! Im always so happy watching your videos, and hope you can continue doing what you love!
Hey DatBarry thank you so much for letting me know, I'm really glad it struck a cord with you! I agree, and think these books are personally valuable for me to look at as a rare glimpse into my head when I first discovered these games as an impressionable kid.
I actually debated asking everyone on Patreon which color they wanted, rather than assigning them but I'm glad I guessed right 😅 this comment made my day, thank you again!
What I did as a child was what I called the "Pilzkönigreich Extrablatt" (What I actually wrote was probably akin to "Pilskönigreis Extrablat").
what would be in English "Mushroom Kingdom special edition extra sheet", which was structured like a newspaper and featured quotes of the characters in the Mario Universe.
I remember two:
Peach saying "Oh nooo!"
Bowsery saying "Bwuhahahaha!"
Classic Mario story.
Even young thane was doing dark aspects of Nintendo
And I didn't even know it yet 😅
Yes do more of these book videos theres something fun and charming about it. Make me wanna go find my own old art and stuff.
This could make a pretty fun series
Thanks for letting me know, I think so too! If I continue, I'll probably do several at a time 😁 I haven't looked at them all yet, but I know I made books on Kirby & Banjo-Tooie
@@ThaneGaming I would gladly see you talk about them on your channel
@@promaster424 Awesome! Looks like another commenter would be down for more as well, so we'll see--It'd be fun to keep this going
Awww. I made those aswell when I was little. I even have one still.
this is SOOO cute I love stuff like this!! please show us more! And I agree it is very impressive to see you understand the fruit mechanic, the way you used words there show you were a very clever 5 year old!
That's amazing! I'd love to see more
Thanks for telling me! I'm glad, because I'd love to do more 😁
For him to do more would mean he’s have to become a robot and travel back in time to make young thane do more
this is so lovely
Awwwwwww, so cute!
I have a story I wrote in year… 5 at school, I believe. I think it holds up pretty well, considering the age of the author at the time
I spent the whole video looking for a beeeeeg Yoshi
Just add the ones on the front and back together 😅
We need more
Would love to see more of the other books!
Yes. More please.
Loves this!!
More please! Like you, I made a bunch of books about Yoshis (& similar to Chris Chan Sonichu, my character insert was "StevYosh"), but I've unfortunately discarded almost all of them at some point over the years.
That's too bad they were discarded! I thought a lot of these books were lost forever, so it was quite the surprise taking this down from the attic when I last visited my mother. Thanks for letting me know you'd like to see more!
Please do more of this!!!
Thanks for letting me know! The tally is 3 right now for people who'd be up for more (including me lol)
I like off model Yoshi
What editing software do you use?
Adobe Premiere Elements & Photoshop 14
@@ThaneGaming ok you make some impressive edits
pretty cute
crazy what you wrote when you were 5 years old
My mom & I are pretty confident I was 5! I was born in '95, so Yoshi's Story came out when I was just 2 years old. We likely got it a few years later on sale!
Yoshi
You said it
Hey thane! there’s a game I hope you could cover. It’s Punch-out for the wii. It’s a great game, one the best on the wii easily. It doesn’t really have “dark” aspects more “not child appropriate” ones. For instance, one of the boxers, soda popinski was originally called vodka drunkenski in the arcade punch out games. Also, whenever you hit him, bubbles fly off his head. Yep, we already have alcohol references. And all the characters are HUGE cheaters! (Except the first boss and the final boss) so yeah. And also, your 107 lb, 5’7 protagonist, little Mac, eventually fights bear hugger who weighs 440 POUNDS! And another boxer, Aran Ryan, HAS LOADED HORSESHOES IN HIS GLOVES!
Ok, maybe there are dark aspects in this game.
And I’m fine with you not covering it, I’ll understand. I just something I’d like to see, and, if not, that’s ok. And if you do play it, fair warning. This game is hard. Really, really, really, hard.
Thanks for the suggestion! I really liked the original Punch-Out!! on NES, but I haven't played the sequels on SNES or Wii. I've wanted to try out the Wii version--I'll have to keep an eye out at my local used-games store! I always have an ongoing list of series/games to cover on Dark Aspects, so I'll add it. I do have plenty more towards the top, so I'm not saying I won't cover it (it'll just be a while if/when I decide to)!
@@ThaneGaming oh also another roadblock is it costs often over 100 dollars
@@kingofsnacks8566 Dang, I should've downloaded it from the Wii U eShop while you were still easily able to!
@@ThaneGaming You can probably, ahem, mod your wii to have access to that game! Or, invest in getting a modded wii from ebay or similar stores if you don't want to risk bricking your console. Having a modded wii (and any other console) could contribute greatly in continuing your channel (while still supporting Nintendo by other means if you so choose to). I really do wish Nintendo would let us archive the old games better or support the archives by having all emulators readily available to buy/get on switch. sighs.
@@milktea543 you've got a great point, the retro video game market is in a pretty abysmal state right now in regard to prices, and unfortunately Nintendo seems to care so little! The Nintendo Switch Online service has been great, but even with that there's odd omissions (Super Mario RPG, games that were on Wii Virtual Console but not NSO) and so much more potential with their handheld line of systems for example. That's not to mention the GameCube, it'll be a decade before we're able to officially play those games again!
Where can I buy this?
All major retailers: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, etc. Authentic certified signed copies + audiobook versions coming soon!
Silent Hill.
Premium delicacy? Diversify their palette? What kind of 5 year old were you?
The smart kind
surprised no dmca for this, especially given what nintendo did to some poor kid in Venezuela that just want to play mario bros and made his own paper console just cause he couldn't afford a switch
Please read more os these, awesome
Preaty intersting i must say
I'm glad you think so too! It was kind of surreal looking back on this, having just finished a different project on the game as an adult. These books are a nice thing to have, because they're a window into how I felt when I first played them all those years ago!
1:49 Nintendo copied thane gaming confirmed?
That's what I was thinking! On a serious note, I do wonder if any major game ideas have come from game designers' kids? I know Miyamoto is heavily inspired by his other hobbies & passions...surely a child's creativity could influence them
@@ThaneGaming related fun fact: the mr Saturn font in earthbound is heavily inspired by his young daughters handwriting.
@@ThaneGaming shigasto itoi’s
@@kingofsnacks8566 Oh yeah, you're absolutely right--thanks for reminding me! Of course Itoi had it covered 😆 he's also said that the MOTHER games themselves were a letter to that same daughter who he "couldn’t see for a while due to divorce issues."
@@ThaneGaming wait, really? That’s such a cool little fun fact!
Something. That means I want more right?
Yes you got it, I'll add that to the tally 😅
