Obviously the piranhas are in on the trick
The piranhas are paid actors
Duh
Yeah, they really should just have picked some random ones from the audience to make it more believable
@Biden is illegitimate wow, not only is your english way off but your name just reiterates how truly 'stooped' you are.
It's all mirrors, it's always mirrors
Piranha didn't attack teller because the face he made and they mistaken him for being a piranha
Lol funny, but the fish were actually really scared. All their movements and maneuvers are typical of evading a predator fish that is after them.
They were scared of Teller and were actively trying to evade him.
Morpheas no, you are wrong the OP is right
if it was black piranhas he would be fucked
@@morpheas768 r/whoosh
He was Their lord
Teller's piranha face is priceless! XD
Harleylover14 teller is priceless himself.
This is both entertaining and educational.

A behind the scenes story is that Teller was dangling his feet in the water for a shot and actually got bit by a piranha. The crew was shocked and asked if he was okay, and Penn just started to laugh so Teller started laughing too
“It was a beautiful tank,” he continued. “I dangled my feet in and one of the fish decided to nibble on me. I’m sitting there thinking, ‘That’s pretty funny - ahh!’ So I called my doctor at 10:30 at night out of a sound sleep and asked him if I need a tetanus shot.” The doctor told him to soak his foot in Betadine.
“The whole crew went in to help him, and I started to laugh,” Jillette said.

Oh NO! I said my Opinion!?! ^Thank you
Oh NO! I said my Opinion!?! W
A
Oh NO! I said my Opinion!?! Lol it’s was a lie to promote the new show he even says eveyone on tv is lying to you lol moron
what if they faked tellers death and used a piranha puppet to replace him for the rest of the show
Lobster Galaxy May be that's why Teller doesn't speak
I was waiting for the part where teller gets bit. I guess they wouldn't leave it in the final piece.
4:20 Penn chuckles after saying "a few people per year get nipped by pirhana"
Sup Daniel
Suppose it does go against the thing they're trying to convey, for a few people a video about piranha not killing people would miss the point if one bit him
He probably just didn't react
he did get bitten, Penn revealed it in another video.
Ok but how can Teller hold his breath that long..?
DuM BuM practice, I used to be able to hold my breathe for over 2 minutes. Some people can go way longer
WR is 24 minutes :D
With training most healthy people can go 2 or 3 minutes under water. He was only under for about 1 minute. The editing makes it look slightly longer than 1 minute, (they show the same clip of him waving the fish off repeatedly), but even with the extended editing he was under for less than 1 minute and 30 seconds
And just FYI the guineas world record under water without breathing is a bit over 20 minutes
It's still impressive because the two min of an average person holding their breath is with no movement he did it while swimming and moving the whole time
But he was clearly letting out some air to be a bit less buoyant. Free divers never do this to both extend their longevity and because the pressure in deep water would literally collapse the lungs.
Is it me, or would Penn and Teller be GREAT hosts for an early morning kid's show?
yes!!!
Finally hosts who don't spew out BULLSHIT!
4:36 MUST be the piranha that bit Teller.
Lol
Refiner Similitude lol
I came here because penn said teller got bit by a piranha.
now i know how to get out of a straightjacket
Just in time to never use it in a practical situation.
...and get thrown into a tank of Pirhannas, or other satiated predatory fish.
But do you know how to escape from drugs?
actually regarding that the stunt straightjacket lacks the straps around the shoulders so getting your hand over you head is really really hard cause it limits how far up you can move your shoulders also it makes pulling your had through the sleave close to impossible there are still ways to get out but it requires much more pain effort and time
A properly worn straightjacket is not really possible to escape from on your own without cutting it, magicians who escape from them use various tricks to make sure it can't be tightened properly so they can escape from them.
0:54 that is the most terrifying thing i've ever seen
It swims with the piranhas and dwells in the caves.
Pen and Teller: Piranhas don't bite.
That one piranha that bite Teller's foot: I'm about to ruin this man's career.
*Penn
So here’s the thing. About the story of the Brazilian prank. Sometimes parts of the river become isolated pools when the river level drops. Piranhas and many other fish are trapped in there for extended periods of time. As the pools shrink at first they are sitting ducks for caiman and predatory birds, otters, etc. The piranhas then get hungry and start to eat all the other fish until none are left. They will also eat turtles, frogs, and anything else in there. At this point even other large animals like caiman will leave. If any bird falls in the water in this situation, or an animal attempts to swim across, it could well get attacked and eaten. This is why the only large fish left are Arapaima, which sport piranha-proof armored scales over their entire body. So actually there are natural conditions when piranhas do this.
Thanks, that was really informative.
i mean that could go for so many other animals, humans included, as well. Sometimes an injured animal or human is more dangerous than the ones that arent injured. And i mean injured both mentally or physically.
I used to have Piranhas, and one thing I noticed was they would not attack anything larger than they were, but they seemed to sort of have a hive mind. If you put one in a tank with a fish that was larger than that one Piranha, the two of them got along fine. Start adding Piranha to the tank and once you get enough of them in it so the group was larger than the fish in the tank with them, they ate it. They have a very undeserved reputation for being vicious, they are very easily scared-complete chickens.
" they would not attack anything larger than they were, but they seemed to sort of have a hive mind."
just like us
2:50 out of context
His last words were
"..."
I used to have piranhas when I was a kid. Yea, i was a weird kid. They don't bite you. I used to put my hand in the tank and gently rub their sides and they will go to sleep. I fed them goldfish and they won't eat if you are too close to the tank.
Cool Magic ForUm they will absolutely bite you if you have an open wound
Cool Magic ForUm but how tho
DevilPoroNnj Uh, pet store?
Actually, they have a "mood" change when the water is also rising in temperature. So a combination of being hungry and some heat and they go bananas.
lol 'fish don't sleep' and neither do sloths, or anything with a pulse. Even snakes sleep, they just have clear eyelids.
There is another trick (on SNL) where Teller goes underwater for a seemingly extremely long (surpassing the WR) time. Of course he had something that provided him air, otherwise he would have drowned. At some point his mask where his air hose was attached came off and water got into it, so he did not get air from it anymore.
Penn noticed this, but did not stop the trick, because it was ultimately Teller's call if he uses the 'safe sign' they have discussed beforehand. There were a few minutes left before he was supposed to emerge, so he had to hold his breath for that time and he was technically drowning in those few minutes. Fortunately he could show that he can hold his breath quite some time and the trick went well in the audience's view.
Penn is talking about it in his podcast, if you'd like to listen.
Also, at the end you can notice the crew running to aid teller at the end of the trick because of the water in his visor
I had a piranha tank as a kid and my brother had one in college, they’re so shy that we’d have to turn off the lights and be quiet just to see them eat. Kinda boring but it was kinda fun having people come over for “the feeding”
1:24 For a second I thought he said: "under his feet is Dumbledore…"
I just heard tellers voice in the ad for the video and it was nothing like I expected
I worked at an aquarium store in California. There was a guy that would come in weekly to buy any feeder fish that had died while being shipped to the store from our distributor. He would then go home and freeze them into a block of ice that he would float in his piranha tank, in order to give them some enrichment. It was most definitely illegal for him to have pet piranhas, but that guy loved those fish as if they were his own children.
Fish popsicles :)
It's funny because somewhere else Penn actually said that Teller did get bit on the toe by the piranha.
Warning, I totally tried swimming with radioactive piranhas in an attempt to gain superpowers. The piranhas had already gained superpowers and entirely devoured me. True story.
Wow dude, I totally heard about that. It happened to a friend of my cousin who lives in Norway who was on vacation in Brazil. True story.
😂😂😂😂😂
Wait! same thing happened to me! we might be in the same piranha
Wait...
Penn revealed that a pihranna DID bite Teller in this filming.
"I wonder how calm Teller will be if the pihranna's are gnawing on his toes."
They, in fact, did gnaw on his toes. Penn reveled that is exactly where he was bitten.
Interesting new take on the older Case At The Bat routine.
Awesome! I learned that in an Aquarium.. which is why I guessed he would jump into it. But.. seeing it like this. . is my first time. So.. really awesome!
I need to watch this series one day, I think I just saw the first episode. =P
And now. Teller is vibing there as if it's just a swimming pool.
Okay, I’m willing to bite on this story about piranhas, but I can’t unsee the tank full of piranhas that I watched during a feeding frenzy. It was CRAZY. They ABSOLUTELY DEVOURED the food they were given. Scary.
i adore penn and teller , love them
i had pet pacus as a kid and I tossed a goldfish in their tank and they didn't even eat it. they just became buds and hung out together for years.
Isn't that the herbivore piranha that went carnivorous in Asia
It always amazes me that in this, the information age, people still don't know basic information i.e. this, how piranhas feed.
They are overfed here and also they keep the water a bit colder than usually to keep them mostly inactive.
my old man once introduced baby piranhas into his fishtank. a week later they were alone - except for a 20cm plec suckermouth. dunno why but they didn't / couldn't eat that one.
wow...i really feel enlightened now :D
I think you can also go and look a little more into too but I believe Discovery did a special on them where a guy did go swimming with them in the amazon river and nothing happened. I think they said it had to do with movement in the water that triggered the piranhas.
Kind of a variation on Teller needing to escape the straight jacket upside down while Penn reads "Casey at the Bat"
Normal strait jackets have restricting straps in the armpit area, its still possible to escape, but the one teller used was easier
When teller use that jacket, i swear he looks like bilbo baggin.
When I was going the local pet store had a piranha and if you waved your finger in front of the tank it would try to attack, now I realize they were starving it.
While they may not be deadly unless you're greatly outnumbered by them dangling your feet still in the water where they are swimming could result in them taking a chunk from one of your toes. Yes it wouldn't be fatal (unless you got an infection) but definitely quite painful and unpleasant
Teller: I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me!
I had 5 Red Belly's for a couple years. They were super awesome. Not illegal in my state, Walmart ordered them for me :)
Keep them fed regularly and they're pretty docile. I'd give them 24 minnows twice a week. They were calm, cool and collected.
0:44 Penn couldnt help copy teller xD
They get stressed out super easily and can bark, it’s really cute
teller actually got his foot bit after the video is done
I thought they were gonna do a Now You See Me scene...😌
Waited till the end..😭
Penn's oration is amazing
The ponytail guy sold an encyclopedia to Joey.
And the “cut the bullshit” attitude these guys have is EXACTLY why they are one of the best magicians in the world!
Hahaha this reminds me of when they were on the Simpsons and Penn had him dangling over a shark tank. "I'm not the first Teller!"
I love penn and teller, Great force for good wether you agree with them or not
Anyone else think its funny that Teller never talks and Pen tells us everything. He's always the one explaining things, a teller if you will.
*Penn
The best story teller
Thank you River Monster .
I was waiting for one of them to latch on to tellers toe lol 😂
But man how did he hold his breath for that long I woulda been back up for air after 5 seconds lol 😂
I owned a Pacu fish for a long time which is supposed to be a cousin to the piranha and it was a very docile fish.
Teller can hold his breath pretty long.
They do bite from time to time though. Most of the adults I met along a Peruvian stretch of the Amazon River had a scar they could point to that was from a piranha, and our guide had two pretty nasty scars from bites in two separate instances. Those jaws hurt like heck lol
Most people that I know that have piranha scars got the scars while fishing, because when you get the piranha out of the water it will bite you as defence
@@diamante9721 That’s certainly possible. I imagine if you grow up along the River you definitely do some fishing.
Fun fact. Teller actually got bit in the toe on one of the practice shots.
He held his breath for so long
These guys are geniuses.
This is a classic story here in Brazil.
"You're going to sleep with the fishes tonight"
"YaAaY FiShIeS!!!"
Teller on a pallet being lifted by a forklift.
I'll take "OSHA" for 500, Alex.
Next thing you guys are gonna tell me quicksand shouldn't be in my top 5 fears.
I learned something today
Penn is a really good performer^^
But Teller also did a grat job^^
they bit the cameraman when Jacques-Y. Cousteau sent a team to study them
0:29
The man is keeping the piranha down!
Free the fin!
Really amusing.
I have piranhas and they are very vicious to small mammals and large fish but for some reason they are horrified of me after I took them to red lobster.
That was funny you should have gotten more likes
I thought one of them bit his foot? Was that a different time?
How long can Teller hold his breath while moving this much? Damm
this the scene where they did bite his toe?? penn talked about it in interview that he was bitten, but it is not shown here
Teller's toe got bit during the taping
Anyone here because Penn said Teller was bit by a paranha?
Penn lied. He didn't pull the cord
The real trick and magic is actually how long Teller was able to hold his breath for
7:40 PM
3/28/2020
Just wanted to let you know I was here
8:32 PM
6/28/2020
he could have come up for air multiple times while the camera was not on him
What planet you live on that have 28 months? ":D"
It's still very difficult to convince people that Piranhas are not these James Bond, mythical creatures of destroying a cow within 1 minute.
Wait what story?
Still wouldnt wanna be in there with those things!
Isn't standing on a pallet in a work place an OSHA violation? In addition to said pallet being on a forklift...
yes it is
love them both
How long did teller hold his breath for?
Didn't one of the Piranhas actually bite teller when he had his feet in the water but they cut it out.
he ruined his suit :/
The suit is an important part of his magic. It's worth it to him to wear one, even when it will be ruined, unless other attire is necessary to a trick. If a magician gets casual when he can (even to save some money on suits), people start to catch on when he wears suits to conceal steals and switches. The cost of a good suit is peanuts to a world-class act like Penn & Teller.
DeezSports thtyyu
By getting it wet? How do you think he washes it?
logandh2, dry cleaning.
DeezSports they're super rich, they don't care
Notice how Teddy wrote about how they were vicious to wounded man or creatures
Funnoly enough a piranah did bite him on the foot very badly according to Penn.
I wanted to see teller get dunked; not casually slide into the tank like a bath tub
I've seen people getting bitten by piranhas by shoving their hands into their tank...
What if Teller had and open wound and was bleeding?
1:23,
Me: *looks at rope, looks at trapdoor*...
Also Me: huh...
In a normal situation they are pretty harmless. However, as they said they can get very very vicious when hungry.
"You aren't yourself when you are hungry."
How did he hold his breath for that long
Can u swim like that with channa micropeltes sir??
XD tellers face
Eating piranha in a tank of piranha. What a power move.
Why does this make me feel like swimming.....
He actually got bitten during this demonstration but being Teller and being the professional he is, he played it off.
