If you’re sorting by label, then you have mastered record collecting
chronologically too! legendary
Looked in the comments to see if anyone else realized how crazy that is.
"this is the stable... and these are my horses"
By far the most organized record collection in all of the Crate Diggers episodes.
Second only to Dilla's.
Okay, now I'm ready to see Shadow's collection.
If your over 1 years old, then I'm sorry you don't have enough time left........
Haa
Every couple years I end up back watching the entire Crate Diggers series, here I go again!
Legend of Hip Hop production and turntabilism right here, Cut Chemist. I'm proud to have a bunch of J5 LPs and singles on vinyl.
I believe the cd version of Deep Concentration came with an "expanded cd" which you popped into your computer where it brought up an interactive DJ deck simulation. You could mix and scratch pre-loaded samples using your keyboard. Had a lot of fun acting like I was "mixing" mad beats ;) Pretty cool and innovative for it's time.
Funk-o-mart! In the 80's I spent more time in there than I did in school
down in the basement... upstairs at Sound of Market too!
I don't know what he is talking about, but I can't stop listening.
Same!
He saves and displays the record store bags. True collector
9 of 10 diggers have their collections in their mother's house also. Fact.
yep i got 2500 records at my moms on the other side of the world...its my safe haven
Believe it. Moms ain't going nowhere and she's always paying rent so they're safe af haha.
I brought all my mom's records with me into my apartment LOL, it ain't that much tho
"....subsidiaries of Warner Atlantic, Sire..." Organized BY LABEL. SO KILLER!!!!
Watching these Fuse videos, so many of these guys live in the suburbs with loads of space, so they're able to have these immense collections all stacked up in garages and lofts etc. Even their parent's houses! Multiple copies of stuff and records they don't even recognise when they pull them out. It's crazy.
But if you live in an apartment in the city you'd better make sure your collection is tight! Distilled to a few thousand choice pieces, with regular filtering. No room for hoarding and completism. No excess fat!
i love cut chemist. such a great guy. this show is amazing. never stop making crate diggers! make more!!!
I LOVE CRATE DIGGERS! I have wanted to see Cut's records for so long!
I love this so much, pre-download, “the search” was part of the craft
I used to get my records at Funk O Mart on Market Street. It was basically an underground warehouse full of delicious new & used DJ vinyl & equipment. Sound of Market on Chestnut used to be great also.
Nothing like having a vinyl addiction mate. Ive had one myself for many years. Whereas I COLLECT rare soul (45s from 60s/70s MAINLY) I also buy or find anthing rare that I can use for swaps later. I got a pretty decent collection and my Mrs moans like hell using the spare bedroom for my record box. Theres nothing like finding some slosed or closing down record shop or going thru really old small radio stations basements getting dusty and coming out with some treasure. 2 weeks ago I was lucky to buy/swap 2 very rare records that had been on top of my wants list for over 30 years and I stood them up on the coffee table like some expensive ornament just so I can look at them. I dont Dj or sell records so these tunes are purely for me. Vut I have recently started uploading them on here so at least I can share them a bit. Keep on keepin on bruv.

Cut Like I said before "You're Truth" Real 4Real Digga! one of the few out there that I have true respect for! and one of the few that has no issue mentioning us as onne of their starting point in becoming a digga.
saw him last night... handshake and autograph
Glad to know I'm not the only one that saves record bags!! Amazing collection here!!
Tommy Boy is one of the most important record labels in the history of Hip-Hop. They released records by De La Soul, Afrika Bambaataa, Prince Paul, Naughty by Nature, Digital Underground etc. etc...
4:00 I swear to go him scratching his shirt sounds like scratching a record. How fucking talented can you get?
Jake Gray relax damn
I also dug at Funk O Mart as a kid in the 80’s - 90’s. That shop was a Philly landmark.
Cut Chemist with the Gloria Ann Taylor Deep Inside You EP on show. My favorite record of all time
This is bringing back old memories, I used to get my vinyl fix from a place called street light records in San Francisco before that I was oing to the Record Factory in 1976.

If you haven't checked it already Chemists' Casette Culture is a bomb of a mixtape.
If you haven't seen "Scratch" the hip-hop documentary, there's a segment with Shadow that's very similar to these videos. Great watch.
Legend.

11.24 - Gloria Ann Taylor - Love is a Hurting Thing is in shot. Such an expensive record to buy, like $1000. Amazing song, should be checked out by all.
Vinyl is here to stay!
No wonder I rarely found records there, you were getting all the gems!!! Just playin' I got a few outta there but they were few & far between... nice1!

Shoutout to the Kingbee and Beatin' Rhythm record shop bags stuck on his wall. Both in Manchester, UK... :)
Still got my skippy whites tee shirt. And the columbia that I bought to take into the basement. Good times.
This guy is too cool.
he really didnt have to tell us where he grew up we already had pretty good idea from the look of him
Class
Just about the only record bag he didn't introduce was the only one I've been to. Big ups Beatin Rhythm in Manchester. Great shop (it was a decade and change ago anyways).
its so weird how people organize their records. mine are just sitting on the shelves with no particular sorting system. i just remember where they are.
Woah, i have the same table and the same chair on the right at 0:19 and ive had them for like 13 years.
Thanks Fuse. Very nice series.
It would be interesting to interview Premier, Shadow and Qbert, among other great DJs.
Hi
straight organized on those records labels.
That's Hip Hop!!!
yup
Cut Chemist is a Tru Master... no doubt!
great cassette collection . yo!
I can't believe he sold his whole collection to Amoeba. 40,000 records!
Haha, it was an april fools joke
April Fools...
Of all the crate diggers, Cut seems to me to be the most organized; its not by date, its by label, which in a way is its own dating system because no label is forever
rad!
This is what i call crate digging,it starts from on full wall and more, not someone with just a drawer
What i used to go to grooveriders when I was a kid. 818 stand up sfv!!
man is baked
Jurassic 5 forever!!! Keep working with great music!!!
eeeeeeeeeey here is the best dj on earth. being dj requires not only talent but also research. only cut chemist knows the job.
The best records are the ones you bought long ago. I agree with that.
nice
Crate Diggers series is awesome!!!!!
imagine if there was a heat wave with power outage and all that vinyl warped
