  • In this video we show you guys our most recent project. It's a go kart we built from the ground up with a 420 Predator engine. We turned a regular yard kart into a racing go kart with a 13 hp engine with 20 ft pounds of torque.
    *Be sure to check your local laws before driving any non-registered motorized vehicle. Do not attempt these activities at home. All content produced by Build Break Repeat is for entertainment purposes only.*
    This is by no terms the final product of the kart, we would really like it to do wheelies and be a bit faster after a new belt and some more torque converter tuning. If you have any suggestions or questions please write them in the comments.
    Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe and don't worry if you don't have velocity you will be able to see parts of this build in the future!

    We are super excited for this opportunity but this kart needs some more work, especially with the torque converter. So if you guys have any suggestions on how to make it launch better that would be great. But thanks so much for subscribing and helping us get to this point and hopefully this project helps us bring the channel to the next level.

    That is a fast up cart

    The belt wasn't aligned with the driver pulley, and the edge of that sheared the belt. The channel is growing fast! Congratulations!

    The belt will wear really quick if the drive pulley and the clutch pulley are not aligned and if the belt is put on backwards. I have many Ebay torque converters and I have never ruined a belt.

      Your welcome! Build looks great! Hey if you guys could watch my video on my mini 4 wheeler that would be Awesome.

  • @rustycrustymakesstuff6528

    Move your seat back closer to the rear as much as possible and put a larger sprocket on your final drive. It won’t be as fast top end but it’ll make it jump out of the hole quicker. More rear weight may give you enough to wheelie.

    • @BuildBreakRepeat
      @BuildBreakRepeat  Před 6 lety +1

      Rusty Crusty CJ7 Yeah were gona stick with the sprocket that’s on there for now but moving the seat back seems like a must. Thanks.

    I have much respect you and your crew. It seem to me that bigger adventures will be coming your way. It good to see that spirit
    I going to throw this out to you its not cheap not a give a way but will make good project, that is of course that you still like wheels or have not moved on to Jets already.
    I have Toyota MR2 1985 The motor? leaks oil faster than a sive. Transmission manual good condition. I am too old to work on it
    shame its a mid engine right for racing my boys not into it. You guys are smart. Body and interior good and wold be worth an investment.

    First your belt alignment looks off. Second is the tv thing a build off type deal because Cars and Cameras is doing a show on Help with as well.

    It appears that the pulleys are not properly aligned. You need to line the inside part closest to the engine up with one another. Take a straight edge and put on the back side of the pulley.

    Nice build guys. A word of suggestion, to stabilize the cart add caster to your front steering. It appears that your steering knuckles are straight up or 0* caster, tilt them back ( || \\ ) about 5*. Doing this will make better use of the tire for more gription and better high speed stability.

    • @BuildBreakRepeat
      @BuildBreakRepeat  Před 6 lety +1

      Justin Price Yeah we’re planning on adding some caster for steering because the live axle gets too much traction for tight turns.

    You need to get a good belt. Those ebsy belts are junk. You need a comet brand belt. You can look into changing the clutch springs. Hard acceleration off the line is tough on belts also
    Great job on the build. 👍

      WallysWheels Remade Alright thanks, that’s what I was thinking.

  • @F5Tornado44
    @F5Tornado44 Před 6 lety +2

    Looks like your belt is too tight. Your jackshaft is too far away from the engine. There should be a little play in the belt when the motor is stopped or at idle. That allows for slippage, so the belt doesn't immediately engage upon starting the kart, which is what it did in the video. Didn't that torque converter come with a mounting plate? If it did, that would be the distance you need between the pulleys. Try moving the motor back a little. EDIT: Yeah, I also noticed your belt is way out of alignment.

    • @BuildBreakRepeat
      @BuildBreakRepeat  Před 6 lety

      F5 Tornado Ok, I think it might have been to tight, like some other people said I should check the alignment too

  • @fuzzwack1
    @fuzzwack1 Před 6 lety +1

    From what i could see,your clutch is not lined up with the torqe converter.your clutch on the engine side,should be lined up with the torque converter perfectly,or it will keep tearing up the belts.I used to work on snowmobiles and had run into this before!
