    Ya bro that's cool you got trails to ride right by the house, gotta love that!! I just bought a new 420 predator to replace my 212 on my go-kart cuz I want the thing to do wheelies, so we'll see what happens. Appreciate your video👍🏻

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  Před 2 lety +1

      I always wanted to do wheelies on these things too. To be able to do that you're gonna want a very short frame something made for a 5 horsepower Small tires no suspension in the front a weight thing put all the weight on the back and it's gonna be maybe A670 not sure you can do that with A420. Most lowest gears smallest sprocket in the front biggest in the back. Smallest that will fit on the front drive train and something closely matching the size of the back tires. At a minimum 40 series torque converter. Cars and camera did this I think they called it the Widowmaker

    • @norcal8718
      @norcal8718 Před 2 lety +1

      Yup the cart is exactly everything you described, short, no suspension etc I've seen karts doing wheelies with the 212 predators so the 420 has got to be able to do it, I would imagine so anyway. I guess we'll see when I'm done doing some mods to it and bolt it on my kart. I'll put up a video when I'm done🤞🏻

I finally got this one running today tried to make a video with my new camera I couldn't get it to work right. The factory jet was about .039 the ones that come with the upgrade are supposed to be .041 and 42. They didn't work had a drill bit that was 45 it didn't work the next smallest drill bit I could find was .057. It seems to be working pretty good it's pretty strong. • @ians1464
    @ians1464  Před 6 lety +2

    It says the factory setting for a 40 series comet clutch is 1600 RPMs. It's slightly engaging at too low of an RPM If the knockoffs are the same it should have heavyweights I'm going to try The Red Springs which are the next stronger if the ones that are in it are comparable and buff the inside part of the clutch so the parts are smoother maybe it will last longer before it needs to be taken apart and lubed.

      @@shark11175 well the other Harbor Freight engines rev to 3600 RPMs I broke a 13 horsepower at 5000 RPMs probably bent something the 670s Rev to 4000 RPMs and I'm okay pushing it to 4300 maybe five. Get a 10 $15 Amazon RPM hour meter. I had to adjust the spring setting for the governor it wouldn't even move and I wouldn't know how to adjust it unless I had the RPM hour meter but you have to put stiffer Springs on until you get the right RPM where you want them make sure the Springs are loose because if it pulls on the arm at all it's going to make it take off and rev High. The 22 horsepower does have way more torque than the 13 so you can just gear it to fast it'll still have bottom end torque. Weight matters also obviously the lighter it is the better a cheap 40 series torque converter will work. Might just have to play around with gears I've got industrial 40 series chains and gears on this one

      Most yard cards have about a 6 and 1/2 horsepower. If you have both Wheels spinning a live axle your best for off-road get a CVT or a torque converter a 30 series would work with a six and a half this one's a 420cc and I've got a 40 series yes they have belts. With a 670 on it and taller gears it goes over 40. The front tires hop it 40 I've got some stiffer shocks coming in and hopefully it works well the cancel that it's got enough bottom in I can easily tear it to go faster I'm not sure if that's a good idea though. I think the 420 geared the same would be similar at the same RPMs this one definitely has more torque. I had have your Springs that I was going to put in I override the governor to see if it would be worth it to bother taking the governor out and I just ran into a couple of times got it up to 5000 RPMs and now it won't start I think I may have bent a rod wasn't terribly impressed though I think it was because the gears were so low. Because you know that doesn't change the torque just the top speed with the RPMs to send you the rated at 4000 RPMs and I'm comfortable pushing it to 4300 with a cheap hour meter / RPM gauge

      Had a lot of low end not much top end geared it to be about 40 it was quite controllable I sold it a long time ago it was fun there wasn't a whole lot of difference between an 13 horsepower and a 22. More weight with a 22 more torque but the RPm's are about the same. Was a lot of fun. Fun to build to.

    What kind of go kart is that . I’ve always tried finding a simple adult size go kart with a little suspension

    • @ians1464
      @ians1464  Před 3 lety

      It was in pretty bad shape when I got it. No suspension or axle at all. I put a mini quad frontend on it and a yearf dog backend. I sold it awhile back.
      A yerf dog would probably be your best bet for the money

      Stock 13 horsepower Harbor freight predator. I was gonna Add some mods to get a higher RPM I overrid the governor briefly and I ruined it didn't see much difference really. I think I remember getting to 5000 RPms It was quite a while ago anyhow I put a Harbor freight 22 horsepower 670 on there pretty much same top end a lot more torque. Really not that much noticeable difference it was just a lot of fun I sold it.

      @ians1464  Před 4 lety

      The way I geared that one it just got up to a little over 40 you certainly could gear it higher it was sketchy Beyond forty the one that I've got now with a 750 Nighthawk will easily go 80. I could gear it faster but I don't want to die

      @ians1464  Před 3 lety

      You mean how much did it cost to make or how much did I sell it for because when I sold it it had a duster 94 CvT and a 670 cc Harbor freight. Found the frame in bad shape good frame 75 bucks. Put Mini quad suspension on the front and a yerffdog suspension in the back. It certainly would be cheaper to buy something but it was fun to make

      Not really the frame needed work but was only 75 bucks still a good start the 40 serious torque converter and Harbor freight 420 engine worked just fine on it. It was just as fun to figure out
