Making fantastic synth videos is definitely your superpower
Here here, ha
Sycophant. (Jk, you are correct!)
The Matrixbrute is an ecosystem, and I want to live there.
i have just lately began to appreciate monophonic analog synths though i now 62y old have lived much through the whole era from analog to digital, and monophonic to polyphonic, but i am turning back to the "early style era" and just bought/ordered a cicuit monostation, greetings, granpa Levi in sweden - and thankyou for this nice demo of a great and powerful sounding synth!
Both big Brutes are epic engineering craft.
Hope, Arturia will melt both someday to an upgraded 8 Voice beast with the big Matrix, the Ribbon, the Morphing and the Morphee. 🎉
A better ribbon (like the Hydrasynth Deluxe) and better Morphee (more like the Touché), tho’ … 👍🏼
I love the fact despite this is a beast all its functions are visually layered and so much easier to learn vs other high end synths. Plus ..it kills them all
I have to admit I underestimate this synth, this is the ultimate modern paraphonic synth. It's so modern and creative that, I never seen the features of Matrixbrute appears in anywhere else. It's just so crazy to see so many modulation possibilities can appear in a big matrix, and it could be used to create sequence and arp. Really can't believe this is an analog synth. I'm totally blown away by Arturia, they are amazing...
Update: I got a Matrixbrute myself🎉

Congrats 🎊
Would like to see a video one day.
Matrix brute is the only analog I truly wish I bought.
That intro… love the ode to a fantastic movie
Excellent Video!!! Well explained, I have played with this synth in guitar center, but the Matrix panel looked so intimidated I didn't know where to start. Now it makes sense ! Thank you for making this video.
Excellent and very informative video! I've been using the MB for two years and still learning new superpowers every day! Originally it was the sequencer that sold me on it, and only later did I find out just how ridiculously powerful this synth is.
I be had this for yrs. watched countless videos, your is the best.I FINALLY get it thanks to you
"Man, this is a great video! ...wait, this is the same guy that made the Maths module video I'm in the middle of watching too!" Easiest subscription ever.
Thank You, for this great video. I own my Matrixbrute for a week and LOVE this beast!
Just picked up one of these used for $900. It’s going to take me months to learn this. Thank you for this great demonstration.
Hi. Where did u buy?
@britoworx what a steal, i wish i can get one that cheap, enjoy it!!
@@itsJoel59 on sale brand new today for 999 , grab one!
I just decided to buy it as my first hardware synth in the studio ! It truly has superpowers and its conectifity will drive me way way in the future ! I will cry like a child when i will programing my first patches !!!! Ps: i love your videos really helped me with that decision
Great video, I've been planning on getting one in September and you answered many of my questions
I really hope Arturia builds an "octabrute". A true 8 voice polyphonic synth. I would buy it right away, barring they screw up their current recipe.
what is bad about their current "recipie" that requires it to be "screwed up"
@@ambrosia3907 I said barring meaning if they don't change what they're doing.
@@ambrosia3907 there is nothing wrong with their current recipe that's what I meant
I think you mean "barring they on't screw up their current recipie."
@@ambrosia3907 your right
I have a number of classic analogue synths all brilliant then I got a Matrix Brute, it is astonishing the sound quality is amazing and it is great fun to play!
This is one of the best video presentations of a synth, ever! very well structured, very clear. Fantastic job! Thank you so much!!!
I was gonna save up for a Subsequent 37, but fuck it.. I’m saving up for a Matrixbrute
You make the best tips n Tricks and review Vlogs in the hole web. thank you!
These are so absurdly cheap compared to a Voyager or something. Even with the poly version being out, this still seems really special
Thanks for this video, I love my matrixbrute, it is the best synth I’ve ever owned and I’ve been into synths for over 40 years. Yes please make more detailed videos, can never learn too much...
Cool - ok - coming soon!
You made me love my MB even more, I've been neglecting it lately... :) Thank you for the video!
The MatrixBrute is fantastic. I would love to see more on external connections!!!!
I love this. It's so clear and concise. I'd always assumed that this was a device for keyboard wizards but now it looks like a wizard synth that happens to have a keyboard!
I'd love to learn more about the CV options.
You make the best synth videos!
I got a MB, i love it, and because of your awesome videos i ordered a DFAM (and a pittsburgh lifeforms sv1 ) so yeah , on my knees, please make a video with the cv patchbay!!!!
Man, this instrument sounds as big as it looks! Really really quality sound! I am impressed, and thinking about what I can sell to pick on up!
Very helpful! Loving it!
awesome. love my matrix!
Thanks for a great video. You make amazing sounds.
I have a Microbrute myself and this thing is EVERYTHING I wish the Microbrute could do. Thanks for the great video on it!
You just sold this synth to me with this video. On the wishlist. After seeing this thing and what it can do I don’t think I’ll be buying a euro rack
I love the poly after touch it outputs to my Super JX, really amazing.
Very good video! Easy to understand. And I agree Synth videos is you superpower. :)
My favorite synth ever - can’t stop making sounds for it. :)
Mine as well! I play it every night for over 2 years!
How about now! 🙋♂️
Still feel this way 3 years later?
What about you,@@paulverkempinck6411? Still feel this way?
@@lordundhimself1310 Absolutely. Still have it, still feel the same - except now it has an equally awesome sibling: the PolyBrute. ;)
Excellent explanation, thank you!
Dammit man! I’m in awe!
For anyone curious about the CV patch bay, here's a quick version:
CV inputs send your signal straight to whatever parameter is on the label. You must attenuate before it goes in if you desire that, inputs do not pass through the patch bay. You can't modulate reassignable destinations.
CV outputs send out whatever CV is already acting on a parameter, after attenuation and mixing. For example, if I wanna send out LFO1, I send it somewhere on the patchbay like VCO1 Metal, then take the CV output labelled VCO1 Metal. Sources can be mixed. (For pitch, it sends the 1V/oct signal that VCO is receiving, NOT the oscillator itself).
Yeah, it has a deep factor that really makes a difference in a creative studio. Pre-set and Rompler fans may be aghast unless you have a programming accomplice!
this is one of your best videos yet..
Well explained brother!
Oh, by the way, you explained the Matrix part very well. It's the first video that made sense.
For what one person's wish is worth, I'd absolutely LOVE to watch a video from you about the CV patchbay of the Matrixbrute. You have an engaging yet very natural manner of speaking, and a nice wry sense of humour; and you are very clear, structured, and insightful while sharing information. (Plus you seem to know your stuff inside out - which is kinda refreshing too. :) )
Thanks very much! Here you go czcams.com/video/oLuAXkBnIxo/video.html
@@loopop Your response to your audience is nothing short of amazing. THANK YOU!
For a fraction of the price, I would strongly recommend the Behringer Deepmind series..It's so much easier to modulate waveforms, direct your mod sources; there's an unlimited supply of digital FX pathforms and pathways...it's super easy to follow/interpret and a great way to make any crazy amount of sound forever possible..
@@joeambly6807 "Literally"? LOL. Of course it's different you insufferable hipster ijit!
Loved the video and JMJ's Arpeggiator at 21:57
Such a great video thank you
I love your videos! I was going to get a Matrixbrute, but when with the Moog Voyager XL instead. That being said, I think I might still end up buying one of these. :P
This thing sound incredible!
Magnificent addition to all those other video manuals. The Arturia manual is a little anaemic
A strange comment in my opinion. Indeed most instruments could be said to be anaemic until you hear them played by serious and talented musician's! Tools are just tools but master craftsmen and women can really make them speak!
Keith Mckoy , my descriptive comment is about the MANUAL not the instrument !
Surely this is going to become a modern classic. A lot of time must have gone into the dev of the MatrixBrute. I love the places that this thing could take someone, even someone starting out. It's the kind of thing that a person could grow into. It's accessible and immediate - as you pointed out. But it's the kind of thing, that I think someone could sit in front of, and it would help creativity... some of the extra sound designer sets (produced as a free add on) are also amazing too. I wonder if something like the Moog One, is really worth 3.5 times more. Different markets I guess.
Once I pay off my current batch of synths, this is the next one I'm going to get. My want of this synth has spurred me into learning how to actually play piano.

EmperorDoom yep I'm in the same boat I have three boards in paying on right now one is the roland jdxa I wish I got this one instaid but I will get this one soon.
GAS is a disease.. I'm cured. Wanting everything has nothing to do with being a musician
Laurence Vanhelsuwe Just like a good photographer can make a descent shot with a phone camera, a true musician can create something beautiful with a basic synth
Are you in UK ?
I'm about to sell a brand new one on ebay.
I was not shure if i want the matrixbrute but after your video i, am going to buy one.
And i love to see a video om te CV section opportunities.
Thanks for the well explained video.
Thanks for the comment - yes, quite a few people asked for it so I’ll be making one soon
Excellent video!
"Something that's in the menue or something that's a Shirt-press away just a lot of times gets forgotten".
Amen.
Here I am in 2024, after the release of the Polybrute 12, wanting to buy a Matrixbrute.
I must have this matrix madness device!
Thanks again!
Wonderful review. 👍
You will be mine... Oh yes .. you will be mine 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
Just bought one, can't wait to put my fingers on it.
excellent video! I love mine more and more each time I use it. So so versatile.... The only thing I'm unsure of is the actual Brute Factor.... not exactly a super power lol
would love to see the external cv demo!!
This video convinced me to select my next synthesizer in function of UI/UX of the unit, not specs.
The synth of my life ✨
Buying one this month!
Thanks loopop! Best demo I’ve seen. Love to see what cv possibilities this machine has. Should I sell my Roland JD-XA for it?
Thanks very much! Yes, I got a few more CV requests to I'll follow up shortly. I've never used the JD-XA - sorry can't help with that...
The JDXA is a great deep synth, but it is a pain to program through the limited access menu system. I had one and sold it because it just sat in my studio gathering dust (and Roland ignored it after creating it - no computer sound editor which it badly needs). On the other hand, I have a Matrix Brute which gets a lot of my attention because it is so accessible! Two very different synths. I guess the question is, do you need a hybrid poly synth with a great vocoder, or an analogue mostly mono synth? Out of the two, the Matrix Brute is built like a tank whereas the JDXA is a lump of plastic.
The price makes me wanna cry. I have never wanted a monosynth more.
Perfect Vangelis intro
this made me buy it
Oh my god i need this monster!
Wow this thing sounds really good
at the moment there is a price drop at some EU-webshops: 1740€ new, not bstock. good luck!
I would very much love a video on the cv connectivity, I haven't seen any videos on youtube detailing what can be done with a matrixbrute and a eurorack setup (maybe even MB+VCV Rack?). I think a video on external input shenanigans could be cool too.
I would like to see this as well. I have had mine for more than a year and have not figured out how to apply the cv outs properly, even when using it with modular/semi-modular synths.
I’m on it! (Edit: done! check out my “7 semi modular tips and tricks” video)
Excellent presentation of the Matrix. That's a absolutely beautiful synth. I am pleased that you made some sounds before signing off, I got to hear a little more of what it can do. Any "mono" synth for that price tag has to have balls, no matter how many features it has. I am happy to say it is not wimpy. Having a 4 octave KB is an advantage. Moog's Subsequent 37 only has 3 octaves and does not have near as many options as the Maxtrix. $1500.The build quality looks solid. $2500, but can be had for less.
Bladerunner soundtrack found its way in so many synth reviews. I love it
Dude I wonder what you'd show us if you had an Access Virus. I really like your Videos!
Great vid! Would be great to learn more about modular connections :) Thnx & keep it up
Loopop: *starts the video with a bass drone*
DAMN BOYA HE THICC
Ill never be able to afford this, but im really glad that they made it.
I was hoping you'd dive into the patch bay... Haven't seen that yet.
Ed Draper see 7 semi modular tips video - it’s based on this patch bay
Wonderful Video as is your norm..wonderful synth. I would love to see you do a cv patch using other synths a Drum ( Digitakt etc) and maybe a few Eurorack ( maybe even via the Arturia rack). Anyway whatever you do will be good.
Will do...
Size is a disadvantage that needs to be justified. ❤
I will definitely have one in the future
I just bought a Matrixbrute because of this video.
kwaping hows it been working out for you?
@@moesalamander7012 it arrives tomorrow! I've been reading the PDF manual and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
kwaping nice! Make sure to tell me about it when you’re able to play around with it!
Kwaping how has it gone? Are you liking it?
@@Nephilim2038 it was great but I sold it recently to get a workstation instead (Fantom). I miss the immediacy of the Matrixbrute, and might end up getting a PolyBrute someday.
Bro don t forget about noise sources , They are in my top 3 favourite features
I think you could find some superpowers even in my Monotron Delay, I love your reviews !!!
Challenge accepted!
loopop a little hint: its background noise from the digital delay 😎
If this was a Moog the price tag would have been 15k. Best value for money synth by far!
@Boofsquad (rolls eyes)
Apparently there's the Moog Matriarch now, and it's also $2k.
Yeah cant believe you can get one for 2500 AU. Would have thought it be double that.
@@bateimidrashnetwork the Matriarch still cant do as much as this can. So u may be able to get a moog for the price but the options wont be there. You could make this sound like a moog. But that moog wont have these options and if it did, the price would be doubled. Check out the Moog One.
The Matriarch sounds good (great), tho’ …
I was able to purchase one the first units in the States about eight months ago. Love it!
Ran into a Matrix Drum Brute and grabbed it last week. Very fun together! Interested to see if you sync the two together and which sync you would might pick?
I always tried to stay away from surfacemount synths... but it is the first time I want one so badly :) Thanks for your great video ;)
had a chance to play around with one of these years back. shame i was like, 16.
Amazing video perfect tutorial.
The Big Beast that is versatile flexible and friendly.
It reminds me of the Antonov Aircraft.
My dream Synth was a smaller version of this Brute.
Everything the same. Shrink the size.
Let me tell you, it would have sold ten times greater.
Haut Strangely I’m not too fond of Chinese food. So I’d rather live without the Hakka noodles 😜😜😜
21:57 takeeeee meeeee dancinnn, naked in the rainnnnnnn
(I know it's not exactly, but reminds me of good times)
I just loop the first 38 seconds for that portion of the greatest film score of all time.
I absolutely love the Matrix Brute features, execution and concept, but.. I haven't yet found love when it comes to the sound. I've had the chance to play with a Matrix Brute for several hours on numerous occasions and this has never changed. Your video only reinforces my feelings. There's something "neutered" or "smooth" about the sound that I just don't get along with, no matter how much you try to brutalize or drive the sounds.
Really nice
🙇♂️🤗👍
Great showcase. I only wish they had integrated more midi channels, an opportunity missed for proper use of the sequencer.
When you mentioned "expensive", I made the mistake of looking up the price. I suppose "expensive" is a matter of perspective. Thank goodness that I don't have the space. 😀 Thanks for the video, it was very informative.
The best!
Thank you :) Great vid, inspiring with all interesting things clearly explained. Did You try to emulate modular patches on Matrixbrute? Would be great to see You building a patch. All the best :)
Thanks! - yes... I hope to show some more in a follow up
I bought mine 1 year ago and today is my first day working and learning it :-) I was was trying to decipher Arturia V Collection as well. I think I went a bit overboard. I also bought Komplete 12. I am overwhelmed :-(
History will show that the matrix has a place in the synth world. What a device! I will not sell mine unless I become too senile to remember what it is...
The CV section would be great to cover with other gear connected as well as external input and oscillator wave folding, metallizer, sequencer use with the matrix would be nice.
I did - check out the video that came shortly after this one (7 semi modular tips)
great video...
