My video from the northern outskirts of Hong Kong at the China border ➡ • Denied Entry To Hong K...
Hong Kong has more to offer than just the one big city. There are many outskirt areas, mountains, beaches and more to explore around the city of Hong Kong. Join me on a journey to the southern end of Hong Kong Island, to a small town called Stanley. Getting there was quite easy: I just took one bus and after 45 min I arrived in a place that was very different compared to the crowded and busy Hong Kong city. Stanley Hong Kong surprised me!

I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia. It is my goal here on the channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see many tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.

🇭🇰 My video from the northern outskirts of Hong Kong at the China border ➡ czcams.com/video/YSfvUJtM4OM/video.html
Ken, I watched every single video of your HK trip. I have to say you are a explorer, different angle to see HK from a tourist perspective. I was born there but I live in Canada now, your video makes me missing HK a lot. Hope you will revisit HK again in the future. Well done, a very good video indeed and enjoy travelling.
Will definitely visit again 🙏
Americans are not the most friendly
Finally you got an octopus card!😂
I used to live in hongkong ( 20 years) when I used to work for an airline based there. I like the efficiency in hk and the public transport ( mtr, buses , )
OMG Ken, you are a really good tourist explorer. I was born in Hong Kong, but I am studying in Canada now. Your research is very thorough; there are some places I haven't been to before, even though I am a Hong Kong citizen. Your videos are enjoyable! Thank you so much! You make me miss HK now!!!🥺🤣
are you one of the traitor protesters who destroyed HK?
Would like to share to you that there are two kinds of “Thank you” being spoken in HK
“Dor Tse” which you spoke - for thanking others giving gift to you
“Ng Goi” - for thanking others giving you a help hand
Ng Goi saaiii 👍
Hong Kong can be what you want it's depend what you'r searching; modern, traditional style, old fashion, surrounded by nature. Love it! All those aspects to create diverse adventures!
There's no place like Hong Kong. I moved there from the UK because I loved it so much.
Hong Kong has a lot of good places worth visiting. It's just take time for you to explore them out!
Actually, there are many tourists, especially from Japan, coming to Hong Kong for hiking. They enjoy the countryside very much. The transportation is so convenient.
The facility where the dogs are temporarily parked is interesting, but it also feels a little cruel!
That alley is actually not the main entrance, but it also gives that noodle shop an extra feature!
There are many ways to make black vinegar. The easiest way to make it is to use low-salt soy sauce for secondary fermentation.
Its benefits can not only reduce weight and reduce visceral fat, but also promote blood circulation and eliminate edema.
Stanley's beach is really beautiful, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙏
Just want to comment the dog parking is a place for them to let dogs wait for them safely while people shop in the grocery store (since dogs aren't allowed inside) Some domestic helpers take the dogs for walks while going to shop for groceries. I guess the name "dog parking" can seem a little weird to some 🤷♀🤷♀
@Jess C "dog parking" is the official name they use, so that's a bit cruel! In other countries, people don't go shopping and take their dogs out.
It is illegal to leave dogs out of sight, and no one can guarantee that there will be no accidents if they are left alone outside!
@@giannishen I guess the “other countries” in your sentence don’t include the U.S. I see people “park” their dogs often, usually when they go for groceries or coffee.
@Sam Lee Don't worry! You can say that, it is not China, people can say anything he/she wants.
@@gonzalo435isn’t Hong Kong part of China? In Australia people tie their dogs to the railing and leave them behind when they go into premises where dogs are not allowed. Not cruel at all.
Some of the beautiful outskirt area with nice view in Hong Kong island with nice houses or building are pricy and only affordable for the rich.
Awesome video ❤❤
Ken, welcome to Hong Kong ! I enjoy watching the videos of your HK trip. You discover Different parts of Hong Kong and find the beauty in it. Hope you love Hong Kong ! Enjoy !
Thank you 🙏

Outlying island like Cheung Chau where only accessible by ferry is also worth exploring. Another interesting village

Excellent video Ken. Congratulations on cruising in on 200K subscribers. It was not that long ago I remember watching that wonderful emotional video as the 100K clicked over. Nearly time to party again 🎉🥳
a day later and official 200,000 subscribers. Monumental moment. Way to go Ken you legend 🤩
I've visited stanley many times but I didn't know about that temple 😊
Ken you are so smart to use Octopus card, continue to enjoy the Hong Kong place and food.
HK in the summer is HOT and HUMID. You went at an ideal time! The weather in the springtime is much more mild.
Welcome to HK Ken, glad you have had a great time here so far, I would recommend trying out the " cha charn teng" which is actually local eateries which serve authentic local casual food like spam, egg with instant noodles and egg and corn beef sandwiches if you have not yet done so.
Are u still in HK?
Stanley is one of my favourite spots to visit in HK ;) nice choice
Have a blessed Wednesday, Ken and everyone. I wish all of you good health. Wow, Ken, you are almost reaching 200K subs....Bravo 👏 !!
Happy Wednesday 🙏
Most of the tour guides enjoy having a drink at the fish ball noodle shop (where u visited), while giving free time to tourists. So, u actually went to a right local one 👍🏼
The fish balls stall is one of my favourite place
you may also try bubble tea in Hing Kong.
Hi Ken
I looked at all your Hong Kong excursions and it occurred to me that I was in Hong Kong for a short time in 2008 and visited the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Hong Kong, the whole trip including the drive there was very nice and the view from up there is a unique experience ! I think that I will go there again with my wife to make a video for our channel because I didn't have much to do with photos and film at the time and that only developed with travelling
best regards
Frank
In Jakarta we also one card top up, it can be use for MRT, Busway, Commuter line, LRT, Small bus
the food looks yummy .😍👍😄🙏🇵🇭
Wow ken beautiful views just so cool...😁❤☕🍩✝️🙏 thank you so much .l enjoyed the VIDEO
Happy to hear that 🙏
Welcome to the place I live. It is interesting to see a tourist visiting my community 😊 Hope you enjoy the trip.
Thanks 🙏
I used to live in Stanley Fort in the early 90s its changed so much
The yellow kind of noodle is usually go with Wonton (Cantonese style) that is Wonton noodle! Fish ball is better go with "fen", that is "yu den fen"😊
Ken, the southern beach part of HK island is where some of top tier people are living like Repulse Bay..... but the old money are at the peak
Next time ask for XO chilli oil sauce for your bowl of noodles. That was a plum vinegar, ideal for fried noodles. You are right, on weekends, Stanley is very crowded. Thanks for visiting our beautiful Hong Kong. You should explore The New Territories and Lantau Island.
When knowing you did go to Stanley, I really would like to recommend you to go to Shek O as well, and if you do enjoy hiking, you should go to the Dragon’s Back, the view there is brilliant
I have watched every single one of your Hong Kong videos and love it. You should try hiking! Hong Kong has so many nice hikes. If you want a hike competely seculded from the city and surrounded by mountains, try hiking in Sai Kung. If you want really nice views of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, Lion's Rock is a must-go, but it can be crowded. An alternative is Beacon Hill and is just west of Lion's Rock and has little no people and argubsly a better view because you can also see Sha Tin behind. Tai Tam and its reservoirs are also very nice, and is a very easy and gentle hike. Most of these places can be reached by a combination of MTR and bus. Any questions, please ask!
Thanks for the tips 🙏
Hk is really developed much more. I would like to go there again. 😊
Welcome to Stanley!!! :::)))
Guten Tag von Neufundland! Ich war in HK es gibt eine Monat.....sehr schon und sehr sauber! Das gefelt mir! Jan
Go to Po Toi Island and Tung Ping Chau island , pretty easy to go. You won't regret.
Stanley was a fishing village, fishermen built some small temples around coastal areas, to Chinese red is a festival colour, we wear red clothes to celebrate Chinese New Year .
Tai O and Cheung Chau also very good place, think to visit if you have time😃
I am your subscriber and your loyal fan since beginning last year .enjoy your meal and be careful . I am from Malaysia . Keep up the good work .
Appreciate it 🙏 greetings to Malaysia
Not only Stanley, exotic vibe also found in lama island, sai kung, and Gold Coast tun mun, take a look if you have time
Ken, I would highly recommend visiting Sai Kung, there are some amazing hiking trails there fully in nature and beautiful beaches, such as Tai Long Wan, where you can truly escape from civilization. There's not even public transportation going there, you need to take taxi and then hike to get here. Sai Kung town itself has an impressive choice of seafood restaurants. Enjoy HK!
Thanks for the tips 🙏
Hi Ken, if you love visiting temple "Wong Tai Sin Temple" is a MUST~~~~ enjoy your days in HK
14:20 This is because Stanley is not only a tourist place but also a place where lots of the foreigners live. There are also like 2 or 3 international schools there I think.
Got to try satay beef noodles in sham Shui po area. Also the liver noodles are good but it's an acquired taste.
Shek O is What Stanley would have been like a long time ago. Highly recommended!
Welcome to HK from a local, hope you enjoy the stay in HK
Thanks 🙏
Best if you put chili oil on the fish noodle soup . Vinegar or soy vinegar is best for dimsum or xiao long bao. Next time try the wonton noodles or beef wanton noodle soup.
Suggest you visit the outlying islands, eg Lama island or Lantau island
I love the quiet beautiful seashore around HK.
Thanks to share another awesome vlog from Hongkong.
You have shown and describe all the needed spots to look/visit, in a very nice way.
The dog parking point(s) is new to me, and interesting to know it does exist over there.
Looking forward your next vlog(s).
Happy to hear that, thanks 🙏
Hi Ken I suggest you go visit Tap Mun Grassland and then bring your drone to get a nice landscape snd seascape ✅️
The weather is usually around 15C - 25C between Nov - Apr. But then it gets hot around 30C +.
You should go to Cheung Chau Island next time!!!
Happy wednesday evening Sir Ken.Nice u visited Stanley.Mostly expat are living there.Try also visit Discovery bay.frm Central get a ferry,Lantau island too.Stay safe.God bless.❤😊
Welcome here in Hongkong Ken... Many Filipinos here in Hongkong I wish I can meet you
Yeah I met some 🙏😄
There are many Filipinas in HongKong, not "Filipinos"!
It is a must for incoming visitors once u tour round in public transportation, in keeping Octopus card for travelling, buying, shopping, payment etc. U need to top up much money.
HI Ken, I live in Hong Kong right now, if you need any help, I can always help you here! Have a nice trip in Hong Kong!
Oh, you visited Stanley but miss to visit the Murray House……
Hello there 🤗
Thanks for making this video 🎉
God willing,...
I believe i reach to success
I like Hong Kong 🇭🇰
Greetings from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
🇰🇿❤🇭🇰
Hi, Just because you are in My city then I am watching your video. Now I am living in Germany and I am missing my city too much and my family but i still have to collect money to go there. Little bit sad I cant be there immedicately. Enjoy yourself and eat more good foods there. Alles Gutes Macht gut
welcome to hongkong
3:21 Stanley is a more prestigious residential area. There is also a higher portion of Europeans living here, so perhaps they like dogs more and thus the dog parking.
Ken, there are other islands which you can visit via cable car. Example lantau Island.
hi Ken , can you show us some street food in popular neighborhood of Hongkong to day,.thank you .
You can visit small islands around Hong Kong'😊
It’s not mandatory to wear mask from March 1.
You are a very optimistic, adventurous and happy person.
Looks beautiful there. How much longer are you staying in Hong Kong? I found the dogs parking area quite amusing, they a well spaced so they can’t get into fights.
You’re finally got a octopus cat congratulation😂
The Octopus card Is like the Touch n Go card in Malaysia. It can be used for just about any transport and to pay tolls and parking.
The Octopus card is not just used for transportation, actually it seems like another kind of debit card. You can use the card for shopping in so many supermarkets, convenient stores & even restaurants.
you should try hong kong mountain trail as well , is kind of HK local activity 😂.
Ken try to go Lantao Island, the most beautiful tourist spot in HK
That little Hong Kong is more interesting than most European countries.
I afraid you have left HK already. But if you are still here, you should visit the Geo-park at Sai Kung. And there's many amazing hiking trail here as well
Dear Ken,
Maybe it's time issue.
You visited Stanley beach but you've missed the beautiful St. Stephen's Beach on the west side of Stanley. You can walk on foot to go over there within half hour & so, along the road you'll have the feel that you're in South Europe.
hk has everything we want, such as the city, skyscraper buildings, the mass transit. the nature, the mountains, the beaches, the islands, four seasons in a year, just not snowing. But its really too expensive.
U must try the real countryside of HK, like sai Wan / ham tin bay in sai kung or lantau island. Stanley is just a town by the sea.
