Manute Bol (8pts/5rebs/10blks) vs. Jazz (1989)

- Probably one of Manute's best games in a Golden State Warriors uniform. He gets off to a hot start on offense by making a mid-range jumper on his first possession on the court and later drilling the first of his two three-pointers. On the other end of the court, he was a nightmare for Karl Malone and Thurl Bailey, who were the two main recipients of Manute's rejections. Although Malone eventually got one dunk by Bol, he sure had to attempt a whole lot of field goals to get there. An invaluable defensive impact by Manute in this one when you also account for all the shots he contested or deterred. March 10, 1989.

7'7'' player shooting threes is just crazy in many ways. RIP Manute Bol, one of the very best shot-blockers ever. And a 7'4'' center was on the other team on this one, Mark Eaton.
Yep
Another top 5 shot blocker of all time in Eaton... Wilt gave him tips on how to use his body
he done that in 80s which is kinda crazy, in the 80s was the decade when most player focusing either on mid range jumper or dunk
And a 7’4 power forward Sampson on the same team
Great upload! Incredible to see Mark Eaton, Ralph Sampson and Manute Bol on the floor at the same time.
Jeez, Malone and Eaton are huge. Bol was both tough and courageous putting his body on the line against those guys. Malone was furious that he kept getting blocked.
Don Nelson so ahead of his time! Now, all big men are shooting 3's - back then, this was unheard of.
manute's lateral foot movement was really terrifying on D... especially coupled with his alien wing span...
stopping the mailman at the apex... awesome footage Lamar Matic...
please don't skimp on any more vintage Manute film you might come across with...
Lamar, I will personally watch and upvote every highlight video you make of Manute Bol until the end of time. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I love the man so there's always the possibility of more Manute videos. Cheers!
Sean, I second that sentiment.
Sean Grady p
Manute wasn't weak. He drove Malone to the ground.
So fun to see Malone attempting many poster dunks on Manute, but eventually get blocked
Now his son gets to continue the legacy
Did you guys know that when you go deeper statistically, Manute is by far the greatest shot blocker in NBA history. Averaging well over 7 blocks per 36 minutes, over 50% more than 2nd place Mark Eaton.
Think about Bol and Sampson going against today's small-ball...
Chupi Chewebbay he's 7'3
THIS GUY IS BUILT LIKE A SKY-SCRAPPER !!!!!
It's amazing every visiting arena he went to fans were cheering when he would hit the three.
It’s funny how after the first time Bol blocked the mailman...he tries to power the rest of his dunks and other shot attempts against, Manute, and still gets blocked every time! Malone even used his off hand to push Bol away on one of the shots, and still got his shot blocked! Lol
His height was already intimidating but is wingspan is the reason he could block shots even falling backward. Insane!
Wow ralph and bol on the floor same time wow!!!!!! This is awesome!!!!!
RIP Nate Thurmond.
I would love to see this stuff in today's game
Bol blocking so many dunks. And shots by Malone who if you didn’t know was incredibly good.
4:10 WoW!
Manute deserved more minutes.
Rip bol
The pass the got Manute the bucket should be in at least the top 100 all time assists
Rip manute bol, rip mark eaton
He looks very skinny still a good player rip
what did the announcer mean at :25 when he said the shot would not have counted the last 5 years? Some sort of rule change?
RIP Bol
Evolution of Slender Men in NBA: Ralph Sampson, Manute Bol, Bol Bol and maybe Victor Wembanyama.
I see a young John Stockton!
He was 27, not that young
hansjakobli78 good for you
@@pram9543 Yeah, you're not really that young anymore after 25. That was when everything started going down hill for me physically.
Video should be named- Manute makes Mailman his bee-otch😊
“_______ is very upset”
He needs limitless range in 2k
To be so skinny he stopped Karl Malone and other giant players! He had to be strong
HOW DO YOU HAVE 5 REBOUNDS AND YOUR 7'7
Easy. You weigh about 190 pounds soaking wet. Bol couldn't block out anybody and really never had great instincts for anything other than shot blocking. There's more to being a great player than being tall.
He could not put weight I believe.
Hahahahaha
Looked like Bol had 22 blocks, sheesh
oh man, if he puts some muscles on his body, and he had a higher vertical, this dude is gonna be a freaking monster
If only he weighed more
7'7 Bol with 7'4 Sampson. Tallest ever. Even bigger than 7'4 and a half inch Eaton with 6'11 Bailey. Don Nelson was an early pioneer of the 3 point game.
Manute was really 7’7 putting up shots 3 feet behind the 3 point line 😹😹 any coach that saw a 7 footer shoot outside the paint would have put bol on the bench 🤣🤣🤣
7‘4 275 lbs Mark Eaton vs 7‘7 200 lbs manute bol
@2:09 ohh 😯 Malone try to slam but Bol blocked it,6 times that's tick Malone off!! 😆😄
karl malone aint gon win no damn jumpball with manute lol
Karl Malone is brutally strong, but actually only has a 28in standing vertical (same as Larry Bird, and only 3 1/2 inches higher than Stockton's). He had great end-to-end speed, but not that much explosion (relatively speaking). Even 7'4 Mark Eaton would face an uphill battle to win a jump ball over Manute Bol, who's 7in taller than Malone, but still a whole foot shorter wingspan than Bol. Malone's a power forward, and even the avg center needs a trampoline to win a jump ball against Bol.
Manute bol so skinny man
This guy ball blocked Malone like crazy here. Illegal defense calls before were dumb. Boll in todays nba could have been a good fit. The only thing that would fail him today would be his speed.
Replace DeMarcus cousins and loon with manute and the warriors could go undefeated in regular season and playoffs
Enigmatic 1 exactly
Who else but Don Nelson would play Manute Bol and Ralph Sampson at the time.
His legs long as hell tho
if you check manute bol's stats, they're actually not too special.
barely scored most nights and had little rebounds compared to what he should get.
got blocks tho but thats the least he could do- plus he better with that height lol
So basically his pure length made him a millionaire.
@@arsonhakobyan Right! Rest in peace Manute Bol!
@@arsonhakobyan Manute managed to stay in the NBA for years because he although skinny as hell he could do what previous 7'5 plus dudes could not. He could move a little bit and block shots. Later in his career he shot threes. his real gift may be his son.
This dude look like Kevin durant🤣 skinny 7 footer splashing 3’s in a warriors uniform 👀
Manute Bol killed a lion with a spear ... basketball is just for money ...
3:56 He thought he was Steph Curry, oh wait, he’s better than Steph Curry
John Stockton ?
1:27 legitimately the ugliest jumpshot I've ever seen
bol bol is better
