  • Jeremy opens the fenders above the duallie tires in the back of our Jayco Seneca to reveal what’s hiding behind them. He also makes repairs to cheap plumbing parts, and adds insulation to the area to prepare our RV for winter camping.
    Here’s a list of the products used in the video:
    Apollo Pex Clamp Tool: amzn.to/366TgJz
    Cinch Clamps: amzn.to/3obeegq

    This is very useful. We are out for our first winter camping in our 2022 Seneca. I assumed the water control center was a failure point so I installed a small space heater in there (120 v so need park power or generator). That compartment was about 55 degrees at -5 outside air temp. So no problems there. But still no water and now I know why. Very informative and I have some work to do this coming summer.

      Glad it helped. We are constantly learning things about our Jayco. Hoping to learn more at the rally this summer.

    Very useful. I am thinking of buying a Seneca later this year. Cool to have this information now. I am one to do as much preventative maintenance as possible.

      We have lots of videos on what we have modified, etc. and are adding more all of the time. Hopefully they help. We really love this engine and Freightliner. The RV repairs we can tolerate to have the big Diesel engine.

    It is amazing sometimes on where they put things in campers/RVs and can't believe the water lines were like that. You did a good job with the modifications & insulation- fire proof foam is the way to go. Chasing RV Sunshine 🌞Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya

      This all started as part of a mouse mitigation project but it’s turned into some great modifications for the RV.

    OMG thanks for this video, I couldnt figure out how to access my black tank. I think I'll try it now. I also have the sea level tank monitor but never hooked it up because I couldnt access the black tank. And now I'm worried about my pex tubing as well, so I'll check on that too. :) I'll eagerly wait for how you hook up the electric heater from the batteries. I love my Seneca, but the quality control..sigh (Sorry for the long post, I always seem to forget to stop talking). Be safe out there...

      We didn’t have our black tank hooked up for the SeaLevel either for that reason. I’ll be sure to film once Jeremy sets up the electrical. I think he’s still debating where to put the bus bar and where to run the heating lines.

    Took our 37L Seneca to McCall, ID this last spring… -16 below zero. We survived! Have you thought about re-doing your wet bay as well? I’ve had to take apart the plumbing so many times… I cracked the plastic “T”, not to mention the water heater exchanger had to be replaced. Did the job myself; and we are off and running again! But I would like to open up, re work the wet bay…

    • @RVHomeschool
      @RVHomeschool  Před rokem

      We haven’t fully redone the wet bay, but Jeremy did replace the macerator and did some rerouting that made more sense. Also added in tank heaters to the area. Haven’t been in -16 yet. 😬

      The 37L coach was warm the whole week we were there, since we were plugged into shore power everything worked great. Other than the frozen water lines. I took your ideas and placed a layer of rock wool across the duals and under the holding tanks. What are you using for your heaters going down the road? That’s when we seem to run into problems, not when we are hooked up to shore power…

    The quality from Jayco is very sad. Like you, we love our Seneca for the chassis. As you know, we (wanderingpeaches) have done lots of modifications too, including basement heat, extra water tank, replacing on-demand water heater with a 10 Gal gas/elect, etc, etc, etc. But I have yet to pull off the fenders (they fell off on the way home from the dealer and they put them back on). We really need to get together some time and check each others Seneca out.

      I agree Bob and Angel. Once Covid isn’t an issue it would be great to have a little Seneca rally so we could learn from each other. So many great things that people have done to modify. We have learned about things from you guys.

    Nice informative and instructive video but I'd recommend losing the music track - it makes it hard to hear Jeremy speaking some times.

    • @RVHomeschool

      I agree, Sean. Unfortunately Jeremy had the radio on while I was filming and CZcams wouldn’t allow it with that audio so I had to overlay with another audio. I try to be more cognizant of background noise when we film now.

    👀 I would think that they would have done a better job at enclosing that space. If you ever where to have a blowout, it could tear up your water lines, grey tank plumbing and that heat duct.

    • @RVHomeschool
      @RVHomeschool  Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe they figure the fender skirt is enough to protect? 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully the updates Jeremy made will make it safer, warmer, and less likely to cause problems in the future. And it should help keep out the mice 🐁

    Thanks for the video, looks like Jayco is coming down to Thor poor quality. Two less coaches to consider
