    This boiler is very good .
    Saves money.
    Our old boiler was using £2 per hour.
    This uses 6kw 42p an hour.
    Hold both water and heating button 3 secs. Then info then boiler . Range rate max power usage to 50%.
    Job done.

    In your video you mentioned it should be showing max output at 30kW not 24kW. The reason is because the central heating output is 24kW, the 30kW part is the hot water output, hence why it's called a 30kW model.

      I've tried it, but I'm not sure it makes much difference. Typically the hot water isn't taking too long to come through anyway so it's not needed much, especially if someone used hot water in the last half an hour or so and there is residual heat in the heat exchanger.

    Very Good. The electronic water softener works by using a magnetic field to alter mineral crystals inside the water. It is a mostly untested technology that gives mixed results. They are somewhat similar to water descaler in principle. They modify mineral crystals instead of replacing them with salt.

    Just had ours installed. Why is it so loud? Not only the general sound of the boiler, but also the noise of water flowing through the pipes? One of the selling points of this boiler is that its meant to be quite. How is it that boilers 15 years ago made less noise? The old baxi we had would switch off immediately after turning off the tap. This takes about a minute. Having just spend thousands of pounds, i'm not sure what to do.

    • @RobFisherUK
      @RobFisherUK  Před 7 měsíci

      It's strange because I don't find ours to be on obnoxiously loud. It's only behind a thin cupboard door. I haven't noticed water flowing noises particularly. The main new noise is the whirring and clunking of valves when it switches between heating and hot water modes.

      @RobFisherUK  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@orpheusjones7313 the only other setting I remember is the delay before switching heating back on after using hot water. I'm sure it prioritises hot water however you set it up.
      You say the shower works fine but the tap doesn't. If they're next to each other I can't see a reason for it. A tap in a different location might just have a longer pipe run. Otherwise, yes, might be worth asking the installer.

      No negatives so far. As far as combi boilers go, I can't find anything wrong with it. And I'm happy enough with the switch to combi: Time it takes to get hot water to the tap is not noticeably different. I still have an electric shower so now using the hot water affects it but its not a big deal. I might fit a TMV shower at some point which would not have worked well with the old system. I've recently started using the heating a bit too, and it works fine and scheduling the Hive thermostat is nice (and I've set up Home Assistant to log temperature so I can see what's going on).
      About the only problem I anticipate is if it breaks down or the gas supply goes out, I don't have a reserve of hot water or an immersion heater any more.
