Pimax Crystal Head Tracking: Lag and jitter
With my Pimax Crystal inside-out tracking, small lateral head movements are filtered out, giving the effect of the world moving around by a few millimetres when move my head.
With lighthouse tracking there is translational jitter, as if the world is constantly wobbling for a few millimetres.
Is there any way to get better head tracking with with Pimax Crystal?
Pimax support have been very responsive but have not found a solution. Am I being really sensitive or am I seeing something different from what most Crystal users are seeing?

Hamilton its a dirty player 🤢🤢sucks🤢🤢
Hamilton the best
Here after the news that Max had reoccurring vision problems for the rest of the 2021 season due to this (yet managed to still win the championship!).
Got my crystal light the other day, and the head tracking lags out when I'm playing iRacing, works ok for the first 10 or so minutes, but the longer I play, the more laggy it gets. Frame rate is fine, just seems like the movement sensors are faulty. It's plugged into a USB 3 port on it's own also. I have a Oculus Quest 3 which works perfectly, so I know that this is definitely a Crystal Light issue.
In your video you mentioned it should be showing max output at 30kW not 24kW. The reason is because the central heating output is 24kW, the 30kW part is the hot water output, hence why it's called a 30kW model.
What are the audience enjoying? Why didn't everyone pray for Max when his collision was so serious?
It's claps of encouragement and to show that they're glad Max is alive and ok enough to get out of the car himself
This is the most crispy footage I've seen in a while
Reckless and dangerous from Hamilton, he knows this track better than anyone, he knew the consequences
Dude that doctor in blue was amazing. The comforting back rubs and pats shows he’s a really compassionate person
I still don't think Hamilton deserved a penalty on this one
Verstappen took revenge at the last race of the season, that was Hamilton's punishment! The Verstappen curse! He never won a race after 2021!
I’ve slowed it down to 0.25 and the transition was at the exact moment contact was made. It only seems like you caught it late because they were going near enough 200mph😳🤣
What about your energy bill?
had my Mitsubishi electrical fitted 4 years ago with no trouble well pleased
Hi bro can you tell me what is the run time of this battery on Panasonic GH5S camera?or any camera?
Super neat video! What camera were you using?
That is one very lucky kid right there! Very nice graphics card.
A year later, was it cheaper with the split unit, or was the electricity was cheaper. And if the split unit is cheaper, does it offset the price of the units & the installation.
This is my first graphics card and I’m just looking at others opinions of it before I unbox it. So far the reviews have been horrible lol and I don’t want to go through another hustle to returning it 😂
So? Did you unbox it? You might get pretty lucky with ur model...
@@AltsekBUL not yet. Im saving up for the case and 7300xd and I’ll be ready to unbox
@@victorbonnah70 Solid choice! I myself am going to risk with the 4080 S, f it...
@@AltsekBUL Absolutely. I bought it online because the reviews were quite good. Is this also going to be your first pc?
@@victorbonnah70 Nope. I had several PCs before, but my first build (one and only (for now)) was with the "best" stuff there was in early 2021. Today I decided to UP the game, get a new graphics card for my 1440p 144hz monitor (again from 2021) and just enjoy the high FPS

Interesting - I remember a couple years ago a breaker tripping and being switched back on was enough to take out my VM Hub4. They were very quick to replace it but like you I've had a backup line ever since.
Hi i just saw a guy who had them fitted low to the floor and i saw you had one low down , Do you think they are better low donw ?
how much cooler can it get in the summer?
The rotation of the base station could be causing jitter. They should really be solid fixed with screws. Only way to know for sure
Is it noisey? The exterior part? I'm concerned about disturbing my neighbours
Daikin & Fujitsu Heat Pumps have a 'low noise setting' where the outdoor unit fan spins at a slower speed to not disturb the neighbours. The downside is it slightly reduces the heating/cooling capacity of the units.
shame the piping is so ugly! but great none the less
this is exactly what ill be doing

i really enjoy all of the videos you post
you sir are a legend
after 3 straight days of trying to get a working system you made it look so easy. there are no ugly messages on startup, everything works perfectly and I only need to put in a single password
what about a condensing pump to discharge any water from the indoor units??
@Ciao Rob i have the same problem, you are not alone. After a several days of test i just wrote to the support. Keep in touch
Good to know I am not alone. I'll keep you updated. Pimax had me run a test for the Lighthouse problem and I sent them the results, though I don't understand the numbers. Fwiw the test was to run C:\Program Files\Pimax\Runtime\lighthouse_console.exe and type sensorcheck . I'll let you know if they come back with anything. My suspicion is maybe there's a dodgy accelerometer on my unit or something like that.
@@RobFisherUK thank you! How do I have to do it? The headset should be on the head or on the desk without any movement?
Just saw this. I did it with the headset still, on a chair. The other day I spent some time with support on Discord doing tests for them. They installed a settings file on my headset and had me stick tape over some of the sensors. None of it made any difference to the lighthouse jitter and I haven't heard back about the findings yet.
😢 i have to do the test too.
@@nilsrossi4217 at least they seem to have acknowledged and be working on the problem. How fixable it is remains to be seen.
Noice Weejo
This would drive me insane. I did give facebooks headset a try but just ended up wanting to through up. I think these things needs to be spot on before it works for me at least. Good to see a new video from you again. a good one! cheers!
Other headsets don't have this problem. It seems to be only a Pimax problem, or possibly a my-particular-headset problem. Still working on it!
y’all what kind of camera is this 😭 i need
You need to put base stations completely opposite in corners diagonal as you positioning them wrong..so when you turn your head, the tracking needs to be behind you
I have tried various positions. The Crystal does not have any sensors on the back. It seems as if being too close is a problem (I can't just put one on the wall in front of my desk), but other than that, as long as it can see at least one base station at a time, it should work. My problem is even when looking directly at a base station from 3m away, I still have the jitter.
@@RobFisherUK not sure what your specs are on PC...also do you have enough light in the room?
@@Simmymind360 RTX4080 super and Ryzen 5900. I'm getting 45fps in MSFS in that scenario. The thing is, for the inside-out tracking problem, rotation is perfect, and it's not lag as such because once things are moving it's perfectly responsive. I have experimented with lighting: brighter lights and even daylight. Nothing has fixed it so far.
@@RobFisherUK ok..I have. 4090 plus a i9 13900k I get 72 hz setup on Crystal with Dlss set on performance , it runs pretty smoothly, Now two things... You may be getting a CPU bound bottleneck or your settings are too high tinker around with settings or you may need to upgrade your CPU I think the CPU could be the culprit..and MSFS is a CPU demanding game
@@RobFisherUK in order to be tracked from the back the Lighthouse has 2 sensors at the side.
Thanks for sharing this video Rob - it is brilliant. Could you give me a rough idea of how much you paid for this type of install, including the units? Apologies if this is in the video or comments as i may have missed it!
I bought the e37s and love it. Upgraded to SSP burrs. Still love it, but I single dose. If I could do it all over again, I’d have the SD instead. Considering trying to sell the mine to upgrade, but with the original burrs. I’d keep the SSPs haha!
except for someone screaming “GO AWAY” at 3:56 , the crowd really cared a lot about if max was OK. love to see the sportsmanship.
Why do all this faff, when there’s an easier unit you now can do yourself, which would cost a total of £800 if you do it yourself, no need to have massive ugly trunking now thanks to a new unit,
What unit?
The boiler wont moderate unless rooms hit their air temperature or the room with the main thermostat. Thats what opentherm was designed for except Bosch dont believe in it
It's all Lewis Hamilton faults and unsportsmanship
do you have any details about performance in very dold weather and running costs..
On a day in December 2022 when average outdoor temperature was 5.4C, I kept the whole house warm all day with 8.1kWh. The next day average temp was 6C and I used 56kWh of gas on heating. That makes AC seem 6x more efficient, which I don't quite believe, so there must have been other factors. Partly with AC I only have to heat the rooms in use at the time; gas is less controllable. It's hard to run these experiments. More typically on very cold days I'll use gas heating in the morning because it heats bathroom and hallway too. But then working on my own in a big, cold kitchen/diner, with -0.7C outside temp, use 6.7kWh to keep warm during work hours just in that room. It's less efficient and there are frequent defrost cycles but it still works well enough and seems cheaper than doing the same with gas, even with most of the other radiators turned off.
@@RobFisherUK Hydro units are starting to trickle into the residential space. I think Daikin are threatening to maybe one day bring the Multi+ to the UK market, eventually. I think the BUS grant with all its stupid stipulations is stifling the UK heat pump market (no VRF/VRV and no cooling allowed). The sooner the BUS scheme gets abolished, the sooner those awful "MCS Certified" heat pumps disappear and make way for more interesting technology.
Your looking at £5,000 minimum job here give or take including the products.
What a wasted of time
And they still talk years later about Michael Schumacher....When it's Lewis Hamilton pushing another driver off the road you won't hear the bias British Sky commentators keep dragging this up year after year !!!!!!!!!!!
Installer told me you can adjust heating kw that is from 24kw to 20kw etc depending on number of radiators. Could you advise us how to do it
Shouldn’t this be wired to its own RCD via the fusebox ?
No need. You need to know what else is on your ring main but this doesn't draw much current. Something like 3kW max, like a kettle.
