I have just found your channel and I am very impressed with your skill using cheap gear. I have 3 YN685 flashes and was thinking I needed studio strobes but after watching your videos I realise I don't need them. Very good tutorials well done. I really like the way you work from what looks like a light stand with perspex fastened to it. Working at a higher level makes life a lot easier.

Great tutorial! Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but just a tip if you want to capture more bubbles in-camera, you can add a small pinch of white sugar to temporarily add lots of fizz. :) One of my clients is a sparkling cava brand so I got to see how prop stylists used little hacks to make beverages look their best.

Thanks for another informative tutorial. I have often wondered how you get your glasses so clean and free of dust? I've had a devil of a time getting mine free of all debris and suitable for photos.
No prob Bob! I linked a cleaning kit in the description -- I often use the dust blower before vital exposures. On top of that, I try not to touch the glass once it's relatively clean, of course some dust is just floating in the air and needs cloned out in Photoshop! I also under expose the image, to the point where only a really significant piece of dust will even show up. Best of luck and thanks for watching our tutorial!
Was it important for the shot that the sparkling water was cold? Just wondering if the effect would have been cleaner without the condensation on the glass. (I know, I know - try it myself and see)
I'm planning to get the stripbox and stripbox speedlight adapter that you listed and, of course, using your links. Just curious, the stripbox comes with a Bowens speedring. Do I still need to buy the stripbox speedlight adapter? My setup is an A7R2 and Godox v860ii. My goal for now is to do product photography to build a portfolio. Thank you very much for this video.
Hey there! I had the same question when I purchased. Yes, the stripbox comes with the speedring -- and yes you need the speedlight adapter (this attached speedlight to the bowens ring) -- thanks for tuning in to our tutorials!

Thanks for making some really fast moving and comprehensive tutorials. I've watched a whole bunch now and I did notice you only photograph hard, shiny objects. Is that a thing for you?
Glossy subjects are beautiful and can be trickier, as matte subjects diffuse light upon contact - so that must be something to do with it! In reality a lot of our clients have glossy subjects as I think they can be trickier, and that naturally lends them to reach out to us and gain us experience with similar products. Cheers

Willy Wong, I actually used a kit lens here! 18-105mm at f/11 Here. A lot of the effect comes down to lighting and getting everything to jump off the black stark background, even a kit lens will look good! ✌😎

I've been doing low key shoots for a couple of months now and first tried to replicate something similar like this video. I'm having issues with the speedlight positions. I'm using 2, 24" x 36" softboxes along with the speedlights. I have the close to the glass (12"), slightly behind and angled away. When I pour in the sparkling water I am getting a different result as when I initially set everything up. I have a crisp edge, but a very large reflection of the softbox on the other side of the glass. Did you have this issue as well after the dry setup? Do you remember the position of your light source was in relation to the glass?

Hard to say exactly the solution - but if the sparkling bubbles are too bright considering lowering their exposure via a brush in Camera Raw or Photoshop to balance it out. If you see big unwanted highlights in your glass, it may be the refraction of the lights being in a position too close to the glass. Hopefully you sorted it out! Cheers
