I built a motorized bike about 8 years ago using an $80 Walmart Cranbrook Cruiser and a 2 stroke 49cc engine mated to a friction drive unit I purchased online. That thing did 34 mph (gps) and it was scary as hell. My Walmart bike was never meant to go that fast. Now I have a 49cc 4 stroke Chinese scooter that I used to ride to work before I retired. It hits 43 mph (gps) and feels a lot more stable at speed. My scoot is pretty heavily modified but is still legal at just 49cc. I love your projects man and..."It'll Be Fine" is a great catch phrase. It is right up there with "Hold My Beer."

Thank you for sharing. A friend of mine had one of those 2 cycle bike engine kits on a bike. He got hit by car in town, he was not hurt but the frame of his bike was pretty messed up. Well he was moving out of state and gave me all kinds of bikes and bike parts, and the one with the bike kit. I put it together on a nice old huffy mountain bike frame and it came out looking sort of like the old 1920 Indian motor cycles. It is black also. Anyhow using my Garmin extrex GPS it clocks out at 36 mph on a flat. Which by the way is pretty scary on an old bicycle. I would love to change the gears and get a lot more hill climbing power. I've got a lot of hills here western Pennsylvania. I have not run the thing in a couple years and I've got a mind to build a motor cycle based on the old Indians. A beefier frame suspension and motorcycle wheels and tires and a 4 cycle with more power. Yea basically a version of the old Indian but with a more modern engine brakes etc. My son had an 85 cc Suzuki motocross bike and the wheel and tire size would be perfect.

Isaac, the original jackshaft bearing is a 6202.
That bearing, is 35 MM outside, and 15 MM inside.
There is a 6202 5/8 bearing. Cost me about $14,
for four delivered. I am replacing the proprietary
jackshaft, with a standard 5/8ths shaft. (I've got
2 bikes to do.) the standard Phatmoto will keep
the standard engine, but the phat tire one will get
a Tillotson 212 in it. "Thanks Go Power sports!"
    (Yes, I used your link.)
I may put a Sick Bike Parts shifter kit in the
black one. (Not the phat tire one.)

Hey brother iv been wanting to do a torque converter on mine also...i bypass the governor and changed the exhaust and carb ...i put a speed carb off one of my 2stroke bikes with a 70 main jet ...stock clutch and a 36t rear sprocket and iv been 47mph ...the stock intake from the 2stroke bike engines will bolt directly to the 79cc lifan head (40mm) intake not the 32...the off set is the best so the carb is out from under the tank and fuel valve ...i had my 212 on it and the power of that motor is crazy fast 55-60 so easy but I broke my stock rear axle and busted the bearing cage out of hub...broke a chain and bearings on jack shaft so I took it back off for now but it's going back on but I'm upgrading all parts first...but I'd love to try a torque converter I know it's got to be way more smooth ...when you change the carb and exhaust your gonna be really flying bud ...iv got the 2020 red one they are very sweet bikes...

You must have a 5/8" drive pulley coupled to another 5/8" driven pulley and I am wondering if the 669 belt would fit since that is the stock one on the 212cc CVT kit.
I suspect that the CVT will eat up some HP on the 79cc engine but a good Mikuni carburetor, int/exh header and further mods on the engine would help. A CVT on
a 212cc makes a world of difference so the CVT should really help.

And if I'm not satisfied with that Sprocket change I'll just go with the predator 212cc with a stage two three or four kit whatever they have. Has anybody tried or been able to find a bigger rear stock sprocket to fit the phat moto? Sprocket specialties can custom make me one at a pretty reasonable price. Isaac, what parts did you use for the conversion?
I'm building up my Phat tire off-road PhatMoto,
and I want to use that torque converter setup.
It will have a Tillotson 212 motor. (THANKS,
Go Power Sports) but I want a torque converter
    system for it.
I'll be putting a Sick Bike Parts shifter kit, on my
shiny black regular model. There will be no chain
on the pedal sprocket. (The pedals will just be
footrests.) The jackshaft will have a sprocket
on both sides, and the right one will go to the
    rear wheel.

    • @isaacitllbefine7231
      @isaacitllbefine7231  Před 3 lety

Well your setup would be different than mine. I would use a torq converter to fit the 3/4 shaft on the engine. The jack shaft you would need to go bigger (5/8) shaft. I put go kart hub bearings in the place of the old jackshaft bearings and you will need the other torq converter pulley with a strong bolt to go threw the pully and bearings. Oh yea and a sprocket. Now you need a belt. Gopowersports can figure out the belt size by measuring the pulley sizes and distance. The only problem i had was the wheel sprocket is a little small so it might be geared for 50- 70mph. Lol some people would love that. Good luck
