UK Immigration Changes in 2024: Impact on International Students!

- This December, the UK government announced a 5-point plan to cut immigration in the UK. These immigration changes are significant and probably the biggest change in recent years. It will unfortunately also impact international students currently studying or coming to study in the UK. That is why I invited Yash Dubal, an immigration lawyer and a managing director of A Y & J Solicitors, to discuss the impact of the changes to immigration laws implemented in Spring 2024.

If you want to study, then come for study. If you want to migrate to UK, then come the right way. Don't try to take advantage of the UK. I know this is a big money for lawyers and colleges what about the UK citizens opinion? Most permanent migrates want the doors open.

Hi Valeria, thanks for the work u are doing,
i have heard about many inetrnational students who got deported from the UK because the home office found out that those students were DAY TRDAING THE STOCK MARKET eventhough this question about owning and trading stocks in the UK while on a student visa is not clear at all as in the government website it is stated that this activity could be considered as a business activity.
as a day trader and i am planning to do a Master's degree in the UK in the next few months i am wondering if DAY TRADING STOCKS is prohibited, what about SWING TRADING THE FOREX AN INDICES MARKETS ( which is SPECULATING about currencies and indices once or twice a week which means making couple of trades a month), i am very concerned about this case as tradng is my main income.

Hi l am enrolling in the UK for sept 2024 intake. As per the latest news, PSW is under review till late 2024. If the UK government issues new PSW rules in late 2024, will I be affected by it or It will be only for students who enroll in 2025?
This is really good information. I was terrified about the changes and looking at the graduate route, but as long as its still in play in the summer I'm happy. I only have one term left, so I want to apply immediately after I get my grades. Im from the US, but I do not feel like I belong there. I feel like I belong here. If I had no way of doing this, i would be looking into New Zealand or Canada, which I dont want to do since I have a partner here now. Ive wanted to live here for years as an anglophile.
Edit: i do have a question though, what does this mean for people who want to try and work as self employed, specifically as a freelancer? We cant do self employment on a student visa, so we would have to start while on a graduate visa, most likely while working another day job. I want to know how much I would have to be making if Im able to become successfully self employed.

I haven’t heard of such visa existing in the UK…

For someone on a different visa route already in UK with his/her dependants. Will the dependants be able to remain in UK if any of the couple switch to care worker visa after the policy implementation?
Good question 🤔 to be honest I am not sure…. Let’s see what the policy says.
I would like to know whether the wage threshold for the skilled worker visa applies to fresh graduates of 2024 (new entrants into the labor market)?
There will be some discounts for new entrants, but we need to see what they will be (we covered that in the video)

Not yet, only what has been posted on 8th and 21st of December, I have shared the links in the description of this video. We don’t know the exact day, but it will be in spring 2024
