just a minor correction you can actually take 1 gun pod and 1 targeting pod, but it might be a bug because you have to mess around equipping the gun pods then adding a guided bomb which will add the targeting pod automatically but not remove 1 gun pod giving you just 100 rounds.
He probably didn’t include that so in the future if it’s patched the review is still correct

Releasing the Harrier GR.7 really made my day. All we need now is the Sea Harrier (very surprised that hasn't been released yet)

Fun fact: the AN/ASB-19 Angle-Rate bombing system in the nose of the Harrier Gr.5, Gr.7, Gr.9, AV-8B, and AV-8B(NA) was the same one used on the A-4M Skyhawk II

Cool thing about the nose mounted FLIR in real life, idk about this version, but on the AV-8B the FLIR will automatically mark heat sources on the HUD with a chevron, almost like a pseudo IRST!
The Harrier II is one of my all-time favorite jets in history, so I was very happy to see one added. I'm nowhere near it in Britain, nor would I be if the AV-8B was added to America, but I DO have Italy at top-tier, so as soon as the AV-8B+ is added, I'm gonna have a lot of fun.
I don't know what it is about the visual design changes after the first generation of Harriers. Maybe it's the wing, the additional pylons, maybe it's the all gray paintjob they usually have, the redesigned nose... it's just absolutely gorgeous.

3:27, small correction: you can mount the gun and pod at the same time, however it requires some trickery, so I'm not sure if this will get patched or not at some point.
You have to equip two gunpods and then equip the paveway (or any laser weapon I think), this will automatically convert one of the guns to the targetting pod. You can remove the laser bomb afterwards to switch out for mavericks or something like that.
It's a bug. Anytime you have to do something like that, it's a bug in the custom loadout manager.

With this update the older Harriet's seemed to have gotten an update to their flightmodel since they seem to fly and turn much smoother then they used too

Hmm I recently spaded the GR.3 while grinding the GR.7, and it does do alot better than I remember it, pulling 2-3 kills nearly every game. I don't know if the plane is different though since it still felt like a brick but they did buff the Aim9G into some sort of divine smiter which really does feed it kills.

Great Video, as always. The only bad thing is grinding this harrier with the Jaguar GR1A. The su25s are always on the enemies team and I get clicked out of the match immediately. Thx for the review.

Not having tracers on the guns isn't too bad since the velocity is extremely high, highest velocity air guns in the game rn, so once you get used to the ballistics you can beam people with out much effort.
Not having tracers makes the jump from the 30mm ADENs to the 25mm ADENs more difficult though (for A-A, for A-G it doesn't matter because they have CCIP for the cannons)

Sadly for the HUD Gaijin cant reproduce the FPM we can the on the virtual cockpit with a nice and fully functional HUD, leading to having to look for the AoA gauge instead of gestimating with said HUD.
There are cock pits thay do uave them displayed on the glasses

Hey tim im not sure if you do/have done a review on some of the top tier helicopters like the yah64 and apache if not would you consider doing one one the ah64A apache as im decently close to unlocking it and im not 100% sure on how i should use it
The harrier has a flir and ccd camera but they are not the same sensor and are not combined. the "DMT" (Ccd camera) is not that useful irl and was replaced in the sea harrier because it's absolutely useless and the flir is above the second camera above the nose and is fixed and projects a flir image to the hud at night and marks hotspots on the hud in day or night

I’ve noticed my 9Ls get hot-and-bothered for friendlies too. The 9L seems to gravitate to AB jets, I’ve found whenever I “lose” the target, it will just go straight for the closest after burning jet. Very frustrating, doesn’t take a lot for it to happen really, it’s pretty easy to do.

Also - this comment was 10 months ago, so it's also possible that this is less unique to 9L at this point. What kind of planes are you flying these days? I've been out of the loop for a long time at this point.

Tim, I've been obsessing over the Yak-38 and Yak-38m and I've been grinding the Russian tree to get to the 38m. I'm not sure how it plays and I've heard its not the best, but your videos are by far the most fun and informative while actually helping me know how to use the vehicle I'm playing. do you think you'll ever make a video on either of them?
If your looking for a fun time against other Jets the yak 38 won’t bring it there’s just to many Jets that are better then it right now it is mid tier and the r60s are amazing aprt from r60s and maybe the cannons you’ll lose 90% of your fights

Can you make a tutorial on all the guided weapons stuff? I play since 2013 so all the new keybinds are blank for me and setting up all the keybinds, radar keybinds, weapon keybinds, laser keybinds is REALLY hard.

Most top tier missile AA max ranges are 6.21 miles so I typically stay outside of that till I’m ready to head into battle
I can’t wait till after burning jets get good targeting pods, bombing from the 30,000 feet should make you relatively immune to current SPAA vehicles. Then they’ll have to introduce the BUK and Hawk

Italy needs its harrier added
I believe Italy used the AV-8B Harrier II Plus, which had the radar of an F/A-18 and AMRAAMs
It would probably get added together along with the Harrier II of the US, iirc they both used the AV-8B Harrier II, and probably at a higher BR because of its Radar and AMRAAMS
I guess it's possible to add it just without AMRAAM
Doesnt look like it ignore the flares. It tracled them and lost tack pf the target and aquired another
You need to learn how to fire them in a way it avoids flares... that's how i use them and a decent amount of times it avoids flares lol especially if the target is something hot.. like a Phantom or F-14 lol

Little update, it got patched i think, at least i no longer have this problem.

vtol is an absolutely stupid gimicky thing they put into the game just to 'add content' to get people to keep playing (yah know, because people are stupid and easily swindled). In the real harrier, vtol capability is limited to somewhere around 20.5k lbs. You would only fuel up an absolutely minimal amount after loading ordinance, with the point being to take off from a forward position (places where building runways was impractical or, because of shifting battlefields, is too soon to get crews out for, or even just to have a remote position that was hard to spot via recon planes which made it harder for the enemy to target air capabilities, either targeting planes or runways) and then immediately link up with a refueler to fill up. It's stupid they added this into the game because it makes absolutely zero sense to have this capability in warthunder. A, because there are never scenarios where there are maps with no runways, and B, because there is no air to air refueling (and there 1000 percent should not be a2a refueling either for matches that generally average 8-15 minutes)
