When I work in the yard or sitting, I Pick a leaf and crunch it up and rub it on my neck , face, wrist, ankles and it keeps the bugs away. Bug repellent! I eat it., can eat raw or cook like any green or with other greens. Dried seeds can be used like sesame or poppy seeds, in salads, baking bread on top.

About 45 years ago I was a passenger on a dirt bike and we wiped out. The muffler made contact with my skin bellow knee on the side, a section about the size 3 in diameter and melted that first layer of skin. My grandmother told me to boil plantain and apply the leaves after cooled and to continue several times a day. It was soothing and no ointments was used. It completely healed and you have to look hard for the scar. Over the years have used plantain for several things and now trying to use it as a poultice for back pain. It’s at the experiment stage at this point so we will have to see!

When I was 11, we lived in tents and my brother and I was melting crayons in a camp fire, in a veggie can with hole in the sides and a stick thru it, to make our own new colors. And mine got to hot and caught fire and I got scared and jumped and some how dumped that flaming wax on my little hairy leg. I burnt me really bad. But momma had made a salve OUT of plantain and lard and used it in my burn after they scraped off the cooling wax. I HAVE NO SCAR, all the hair grew back also

@G-man it is okay, as long as you wait till the burn has cooled, SO that the oil of it does NOT hold the heat in the skin. You can also use the plantain in apple cider vinegar and use it on poison Ivy or Oak, drys out the blisters and heals up sores fast, helps reduce itching.

Talking about getting burned. I got burned in my whole body when I was two. My Mom was walking with a pot of scalding milk and I hugged her legs. The whole poured on my head and down my body. It was chaos. The doctor put a cream on me and wrapped me like a mummy. The wrap only had a tiny whole in my mouth and two to breathe. He told her that the gauze had to remain constantly moist at all times. Anywhere the gauze would dry, I would be scarred for life. He then told her to put slices of potatoes on top of the gauze. My legs and arms were separated by tiesThere were shifts to pour water on top of the potatoes to keep me wet at all times. The potatoes would be changed everyday. Three months later the mummy wrap was to come off. My Mom told the doc to start by a foot. She was terrified to see my face. When he revealed the skin, it was completely healed. I have absolutely no scars anywhere in my body.

I didn't know about plantain when I was bitten by a brown recluse spider --I didn't realize it until the next day as a red ring started intensifying and it looked like a sinkhole in the middle -- I have lots of essential oils that I began putting on it and then read to use Tusli Holy Basil and that did the trick! The now already larger sinkhole and spreading of red stopped and it healed perfectly --can't even tell where it was and if I didn't have photos I took, wouldn't have known it ever happened -- amazing what Mother Earth has give us--the best medicine available!

In our family we use them on wounds and slivers. I've got little kids and avoiding sticky bandages is great! We use chewed up plantain with a lamb's ear leaf on it then wrap with a "sticks only to itself" style bandage. My kids have even dealt with their own wounds without even telling me. I think it's empowering for them.

When I was living in Europe, I got bronchitis. The doctor prescribed plantain syrup. It worked as well or better than anything my doctor here in the US has prescribed so I've used it ever since. It's good for pneumonia, asthma, and bronchitis because it's a pulmonary anti-inflammatory. More recently, I've been using it for long Covid... which is almost gone now, to my doctor's surprise. Syrup is made from water, fresh plantain, and brown sugar.
I make a salve from it for eczema, hives, nettles, and insect stings. It can shut off the pain of a wasp sting like a light switch. Salve is just coconut oil, fresh plantain, and a (very) little beeswax.

She was freaking out! Pawing her nose, running in circles, crying. I chewed a piece of plantain like I do for myself, caught her up and held it on top of her nose over the sting. After about 10 seconds she quit struggling and crying and settled into my arms. So, good for critter's poo poos too!

I cut my thumb. I actually sliced the side of off with a mandelen. I held pressure on it, held it above my head and every time I would take the pressure off, it would bleed like a sieve. It did that for 2 hours. It was getting late. I went into the bathroom and though what can I use to stop the bleeding. I seen the dried plantain, so I look up its medicinal properties. I made a tea with it and put it on my wound. Within 15 minutes the throbbing had stopped and in 20 minutes the bleeding stopped, so I could finally go to bed without bleeding to death in my sleep. I recently made a salve with 4 other weeds, chickweed being one of them, with coconut oil and bees wax. Chickweed is good for stopping the itching.

For pain and inflammation i think hemp oil is the best. We don't have comfrey in Sweden or they are hard to find. 3 days ago I was at the gym working out and pulled a little to much weights så a little muscle on my back got inflammable. I tried everything for 2 days inflammatory pills and some inflammatory salve it helped a little but pain came back. So I had homemade cbd oil and I thought well let me try this oil and see if it works. I put some cbd oil on the muscle and gave it a good rubb. It took one hour and the pain was gone totally gone. I couldn't belive it. It is so effective that i cant describe it it helped so much it was unbelievable. So yes i can recommend it if you have joint pain and inflammation. Works miracles.

I LOVE that you did this video. I’ve made the salve for years. Calendula also. One example - my sons husky had a wart between his shoulder blades. One of those cauliflower looking ones. The vet checked him and rallied up cost of removal 😳 $929$ 😳 He came up to visit and told me this so I got out the salve and put it on the wart, Friday night- couple times on Saturday and once Sunday before he left to go back home. I gave him a tin of the salve but he remembered only Monday to apply it SO he was doing that and the wart fell completely off. 👍. Awesome stuff 👍. The Indians said that for every ailment known to mankind the Creator had put cures on the earth too. So much got lost over all the years unfortunately- I was a late life baby, so my parents being older- I learned A LOT!! From flower beds to veggie gardens and the plants and such for healing ( mom had a medicinal bed ) tucked out back so kids wouldn’t pick bouquets for their mom 😁😄

I've been gathering this all summer, and am just beginning to discover the uses! I'm gonna use the powdered leaves in a salve or lotion and send it to my daughter. She has psoriasis, and her hands are broken out seriously bad because of the use of hand sanitizer and hand washing. If you gather up enough seeds, you can use it as a flour substitute also. I'm slowly collecting them to use at some point. The younger leaves are a lot easier to deal with raw because they're still tender. An easy way to identify it, is if you look at the stalks, at the base they are purple. Plus if you find one, you might as well just have a seat, because they'll be all around you. I am having so much fun learning the uses of the plants we think are just a nuisance! Thanks for the video Heidi, I love watching and learning along with you and the community. Blessings for all y'all.

The relief was instant and lasted for two hours . Better than store bought remedies by far and the mucilage keeps it stuck to your skin . Amazing !!!!!

I'm going to plant plantain there to cover the baron area so there will be green there all summer. If it seeds itself, that's fine with me, it can go crazy in that area and give me healthy benefits. This is one of my primary plants that I am growing. It wasn’t easy to acquire the seeds to just to be able to put a plot in. I got a plot maybe 6‘ x 100 that I’m trying to enlarge even more I traveled all over, trying to acquire the seeds, August is a good time to harvest the seeds try to get your babies going as soon as possible so you could start duplicating it as fast as you can the seeds to grow. I’m gonna let you know that so sprinkle them a little bit lightly you have to use sterile soil they are slow crores, but once they establish them selves, they do very well broadleaf, plantain and arrowleaf plantain are very nice. I prefer broadleaf plantain because it covers more area. I invented a way to process plant matter to liquefy it very fast with a pressure washer with an oscillating tip on it running it through screens I just saved 3 million strawberry seeds that way, then put them in the freezer for one month. I get a very large abundance of food every week because they take everything from a produce stand and process it into seed, level or replant it. It can be very time consuming of my life to try to process everything I cannot tell you how much negativity has came to me in my mind while I have been doing this, there is definitely something evil in this universe that has been trying to stop me. I hope it never comes to any of you, and if it does, I can tell you the secret only listen to the thoughts in your head that are intelligent that direct you nothing else can protect you, it’s like a big drama situation out there of frequencies overlapping in our heads just remember to stay focused on the plan and if you wanna know what the plan is it is to protect and develop this planet at the highest level you possibly can I planted tens of thousands of fruit trees primarily apples and pears this year from seed, lemons, walnuts, pecans, but primarily apples and pears and wish everybody to have a fruitful garden and if you wanna know a couple of tips, use lots of fertilizer manure of any kind you can instead of your plants you might have something inside there that is better for you then what’s your groin?

Rain country: thank you very much for this video. He had another awesome video that I really enjoyed. It’s getting late in the year, and so I just realized that I didn’t have any harvested so I came to check out what you had to say about it.
Because you asked what we do with it, what I usually do is wait until I actually have a problem, like a cut or a bite, and then I just select some doc, plantain, and yarrow from the yard together and make a mastication poultice.
The reason for which I use those three, are that they are the three that I learned together, so even though I can pretty much always remember that yarrow is excellent for starting bleeding, I’m not always so smart to remember which ones are best for what kind of pain, so I just usually grab a leaf of each and press it into service, since pretty much every lawn, meadow, and roadside have them in abundance in my area.
This year is different, however. This year I’m dehydrating the herbed have on hand around, and a little bit in a while in my little emergency preparedness tin in my bag.My very first tincture of Yarrow from dehydrated plant matter is sitting on my shelf now. I
am very grateful for the information that you provide, Especially while supply is still a bit of a mess. Thank you very much.
