  • CT Detectors are the most important component in a CT system in determining the image quality in the system.
    CT Detectors were previously made of ionization chambers which required high pressure gases.
    Modern CT Detectors use scintillators and have a photodiode to read-out the electrical signal.
    It is even possible to have a dual layer approach with scintillation based detectors to gain some spectral capabilities.

    thanks a lot for the explanation, i was struggling with finding understandable explanations for the different detectors used in CT's in spanish. Glad i found you !

    Congratulations Brian, magnificent video, like all the ones you do.
    I don't know if it would be possible to see real detectors and their minute components, we always see the schematic detector, but it would be very interesting to be able to visualize them in a real way.
    Come on you can! New challenge!
    Regarding the PCD, looking forward to seeing your video.
    Kind regards!

      @@HowRadiologyWorks yea i also would like to, i was thinking that the detector raw is (like an arch) composing of multiple slices then the raws arranged one by one next to each other😂
      I was suffering understanding it, but with concentration of your real pics here you brought i discovered that they are like rectangles arranged side by side.

    • @HowRadiologyWorks
      @HowRadiologyWorks  Před rokem

      Hi Kapil I try not to discuss individual medical questions in the comments. A CT scanner can detect objects smaller than a human hair if they are very attenuating to X-rays. Most material that is similar to the background attenuation will not be detected if it is as small as a human hair.
