Great trip. I'm glad it wasn't cold yet. When the temperatures drop to 32 or below the bridges on I-10 freeze and if it has rained recently you may have black ice. I remember driving home from college in Dallas to Florida for Christmas and hitting black ice in the middle of the night. Even though I have lived here in Peru for almost 10 years, I'm still not used to doing the whole Christmas Eve celebration. I miss going to bed early then waking up early Christmas morning with the fireplace roaring. Here, everyone goes to the beach in Camana. Plus Christmas Eve everyone does fireworks just as they do New Years Eve. For New Years I still don't get why everyone wears yellow underwear and puts lentils in their pockets. One great thing is I have been able to bring the tradition of Thanksgiving here. I'm really enjoying the RCRV videos.
Hahaha! That’s too funny! I’ve wondered the same thing about the yellow underwear! Paola was able to explain the lentils and the grapes but not eating them under the table nor the yellow underwear. We try to preserve both Christmas traditions in our family. We do vehemently big Christmas Eve event at a family member’s house and then go home so we can do the Christmas morning tradition. We’re usually exhausted but it’s worth it. Thanks so much for sharing with us!
