I would do it before to stretch the muscles prior, but doing it after wouldn't hurt either. Honestly, these kinds of movements help activation if you do them at any point, so doing them first thing in the morning even would help.
Calf raises are the exact opposite of what you want to do to prevent shin splints, that'll just make them worse. And I think this video makes it more complex than it needs to be. Just walk around on your heels. That was enough to solve all my shin splint problems.
Ohh so that's how I recover and stretch I took 5 days off running due to it but my ankle was swollen I pushed my limit 5 days ago from 12 to 16miles my legs gave up but I didn't i made it home
