    This is one is totally rideable ridiculousness. Endless chunky rock gardens and high speed Pisgah "flow". The pain to pleasure ratio was in our favor that day. Adding this to my list of all-time favorites!

    Great riding! That first flowing creek crossing with the waterfall has a side trail to the pool below. Worth going down. I "canyoneered" that entire creek one day with a friend and popped out at the bottom of the Daniel downhill where the bridge used to be. That was one of my favorite days in Pisgah. It's an amazing creek.

    Yea so myself and 2 other guys rode this trail today, fantastic weather aside, you are in for a hell of a ride if you attempt Farlows gap and Daniels ridge. At least half of farlows wasn’t rideable. Plus 3 pretty big river crossings. The sections that were, were fast, sketchy and short lived. Lots of downed trees. Daniels ridge was a blast. The whole trail was rideable. But don’t be deceived by the 3miles of downhill descent that farlows boasts. You will be punished by the uphill trek and by the downhill descent. If you want ONE HELL OF AN ADVENTURE, go for it!

    • @brettwilms
      @brettwilms Pƙed rokem +1

      My experience in Pisgah (and this trail specifically): 1. The video makes the trail look more narrow than it is. I never felt at danger of dropping of the edge. 2. Ride within your comfort level. The downhill rocks on this trail are all doable, but some will go faster than others. 3. Do your best to choose a line with larger, embedded rocks. There are wobbly ones for sure, but by no means a tumbling of rocks following you down the trail. 4. I never felt at risk of loose rocks throwing me off my game, but I suggest trying some other trails in the area to get a feel for it (check out Spencer Gap, Fletcher, and Trace Ridge in N. Mills River). This will give you more confidence on larger, lose rocks. But, these trails are far less commitment to get to. 5. Bring friends and session. Farlow Gap takes 1-2 hours to get to. This is the type of trail to plan as an adventure with a group and take time to play on sections. Don't put yourself in a time crunch for this one (or others like Laurel Mtn/Pilot Rock).

    I try hard not to be critical, because I know the challenges GoPro POV videos present, but for me...this camera angle is just too low. I feel like I'm watching a video of the top tube and stem. I can't even see the rider in front, much less the terrain being ridden over. The move to the 9 on a chesty has been a step backward for the CZcamsrs who have made that change, in my mind. I would have loved to have seen this video filmed with a chin guard mounted GoPro, so the view is out over the bars, and I'm able to see what Brian is looking at, which is the trail and changing terrain. Being low and off the back of the bike really accentuates the low camera angle. It's a great ad for Ibis by showcasing the Ripmo logo, but I want to see the trail! It makes me feel like I want to reach out and push the bike out of the frame. (Sad Face)

    If I see a popular CZcamsr on a trail riding, it would be wrong to stop him mid-ride to say hi right? Also creepy to wait for them to finish a trail to say hi to them at the exit? And weird to say hi while they have their alone time prepping before a ride. I guess the appropriate way to greet your fav Mtb CZcamsr is to just yell out their name and say thanks for the vids as they pass you?
