I am now 12 years on the other side of having dropped my youngest at college many states away. I can tell you with complete assurance , it is so validating to be on this side, and feel the pride and comfort in knowing we have raised really lovely, crazy fun human beings adults that will thrive long after I’m gone. And every stage gets more fun with them.
So certainly allow yourself to be sad, cry it out, but know the best is yet to come ❤️❤️❤️

OMG I can't believe I have just now found you !!!!!!!!!! You are too much fun and randomness tube socks, tears, chameleons, so similar to how my brain works. I am now going to have to go back and watch some of your past episodes. I have to admit when I first saw you, I thought you were a teenager lol then you said you were turning 40 and had a kid going to college. 🤦♀I love that you are just wonderfully you though, nonconformity and honesty are amazing qualities. Tomorrow is payday and I will absolutely be hitting up your shop.
My oldest is leaving for college in a few weeks too. Although, she is about 15 minutes away-she will be living in the dorm. Last week I broke down doing laundry “I only have a month longer that I will be doing her laundry consistently” (yes-I do my kids laundry because it’s more efficient). Then, I lost it in Costco “I’m not going to have to buy 2 different kinds of chicken nuggets” (one kid likes the Dino-nuggets and the other likes the Foster Farms). I’m going to be a crying fool! You got this mama-just keep your attitude that it’s good for her! Artists are a brave bunch-you put your blood, sweat and tears into a project and present it to the world and hope it gets embraced! Thanks for keeping it real! ❤
I'm finally getting a chance to catch up and WOW, great flosstube. I love the Let Me Not Forget and it looks even more wonderful here. Adding it to my wishlist. Keep up the drawing and the sticker making. Love them both! Thank you for sharing your WIP tossing. I now feel free to do the same with a much hated project. Relief.

Hi Stephanie…what can I say?…I have not cross stitched for many years now but I have a few people I watch on CZcams that I really enjoy 😊…and you’re one of my favourites…I don’t care 🤷 wether you are feeling funky or sad 😢, funny or happy 😆…I will watch and laugh or cry along with you. I love your new releases too..I’m seriously considering picking up the needle and thread again to stitch them..thanks for another video and look forward to the next..FYI…My hubby and I celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary in August too…who would have even thought that was possible…not me sometimes!!…but it’s happening. I do notice when watching videos that Americans quite often don’t pronounce the T’s…it’s quite often for most words especially the double T’s..have fun…🥰🇦🇺

Just found your channel and I love your videos! Also sending my only kiddo to college in 24 days. I started to cross stitch earlier this summer as a hobby to keep me occupied during this transition.
I cried when I saw the fish pattern and quote. My dad would have loved it. I cried when I left my daughter at college, but there was so much pride in knowing she was a wonderful, capable person starting out to live her dream. I hope that the chill lizard makes it into available stickers. I loved it.

Have you considered collaborating with a needleminder maker to turn your drawings into needleminders? That could be a fun crossover between drawing and cross stitch! Especially like the one with the saying on it - that would be great to see next to you while you’re stitching. 👍🏻

Shining Fish is just so perfectly beautiful. From the quote, to the design, the materials, just everything about it. It all fits together so well. I love how the fabric and floss make it look as if it is underwater (atleast it does to me), like when you see rocks at the bottom of a creek, or koi fish in a pond, and the light is shining on them just so. It was an absolute must have and purchased immediately. I can't wait to start it. Thank you so much Stephanie for sharing your amazing talent and beautiful designs! I love your style, and have many of your patterns and am part of the bird crush club. I have to say though, this is my new favorite. It's just incredible!

Congratulations on all your big milestones coming up! I turned 40 in 2020 during lockdown and it was a bit of a non-event really- so just embrace it all now. As a side note, I love pumpkins- so much so that my cat is called Pumpkin. He is of course ginger and will be turning 1 year old in September. He is an utter delight and so good with my children who are both autistic and can sometimes be rather loud and unpredictable xx

When we lived in Kansas my hubby used to grow very large watermelons and pumpkins. He had 115 lb pumpkin one year :)

I LOVE your new pieces! Thank you so much. I am not a crier but my son's senior year in high school I was a weepy, sentimental mess. Every right of passage was a fresh episode of tears. Senior portraits, award ceremonies, drivers license, senior prom, graduation. It was rough so my heart goes out to you for your August celebrations!

Love your new releases...all of them! Definitely will be getting the sayings... I think you're right... the news has been so distracting. It's one reason I dive into my stitching. Oh, my heart aches for you sending your girl off. It brought back memories of when I drove my daughter to college and left her. It felt so wrong. Like I had left behind a literal piece of my own body. I cried all the way home and walked around wounded for a week- listening to sad songs as I took long meaningful walks in the country. Hilarious in hind sight. She now lives in our guest house with her husband and we see each other all day. So... take heart. I like to think of just diving into the wave head on and feeling all the feelings. Stitching hugs to you~

So, I have gotten into the habit of watching floss tube while I stitch. You had me laughing so hard that I couldn't stitch without stabbing myself.... I can't say that I have ever thought about chameleons in tube socks but I have thought a lot about how I would like to knit socks. I would imagine it would be pretty quick to knit socks for a chameleon.
Oh Steph, I love you so much! You are hilarious - don't ever change. You and I are going through so many of the same life changes!!! My birthday is in August as well, (55), my sweet sweet daughter was married this past January to a man we adore, but she now lives 3 1/2 hours away. Talk about tears! I liked the stickers you said you didn’t think you are going to sell. I think I am not the only one who thinks this. You are in a big group like the rest of us, who are too critical of their work. A very happy birthday to you! I am in the Midwest too. My son lives in California and he said people out there think that Midwesterners do not say the "ing" on some words: runnin' instead of running, shoppin' instead of shopping, you get the gist of it. Regarding stickers, people seem to love to put them on their calendars. My daughter puts them on her water bottle too. I like little buttons on stitch work too and loved them on ye olde crow when I stitched that, also by Cecilia Turner. Sorry your collection release didn't do well, I liked them!
Ha ha , yes I have noticed the 'ing.' I think we pronounced them a little better in Illinois where I grew up because when I moved to Indiana at first I remember it being very obvious to me that no one here said 'ing' correctly. Now of course neither do I!
Hi Steph - I am ok with buttons, but like you said, they have to be sized to the pattern. A chameleon in striped tube socks would be so hilarious. Please do one up. Hope it won't be too long before your next flosstube. I know designers are busy and it takes a lot of work to do that AND flosstubes as well. Hang in there - with your first child leaving home - you will get through it like you've done with other life stages.

I agree about the tablet drawing experience. Intimidating to the point of not doing it. But drawing journals are so great on good paper I have many many of them. Mostly just for me. Because I gotta draw. Love your videos. Keep up the great fun.
I love the new releases, especially the Keats poem. I can totally relate to the feeling of sending your child off to college. I cried the whole way home after moving my daughter into her dorm and that was a 3 hour drive. I am a sticker fan so I’d love to purchase yours. The ones you showed are great. I also fell in love with Purple Transport - that horse! So now I'm back to finish watching the episode. So many things to say- the most important is that I really enjoy seeing your non-pixelated art, and I’m really looking forward to stickers and anything else you decide to offer. As soon as I saw the chameleon in your sketchbook I started hoping it would make another appearance (or two, or three), and the tube socks are genius.
I also wanted to say that I bought the Four Sayings in large part for the gorgeous palette and the stunning borders. I plan to stitch three of the four eventually and will probably change the motto in the flower and bird border. As you pointed out, people buy or don’t buy patterns for lots of reasons, and I could imagine it’s really hard to walk the line between being an artist and releasing designs that are meaningful to you, and being a businessperson and releasing designs that will sell. I’m hoping Four Sayings will find its audience.
I’m super excited to stitch Wildflowers and Keats- I’m planning to stitch the vase a solid color with my husband’s and my initials and the year we married. I never stitched us a proper wedding sampler and I think this design is perfect.
As for buttons- scale is definitely important! And I love including buttons as accents in cross stitch.

I love the idea of stickers - but would like small ones to use in my stitching journal. I love birds :) In general, I don't like embellishments on my stitched pieces, though they work for a few.
Stephanie...cherish these days. I cried when both of my daughters went off to college 😭, luckily they were only about and hour away but it was still hard. Before you know it she will be graduating 🎓 from college and more tears ensue.

I was so glad to see that you posted a new video! First, I love all of your new designs and Shining Fish especially….so beautiful and conveys the depth and iridescence of a mother’s love. ❤️. I’m not a huge fan of buttons; I tend to skip them unless they are small and really add something. And your drawings are so good! Don’t sell yourself short ( there’s another good proverb!). That chameleon on the first page you showed actually struck me like an optical illusion- if you look at it one way, he kind of looks like he’s lying on his back!
I totally loved getting a mailer that had a drawing on it from you. I just recently organized my stash of charts and I finally moved it elsewhere. Stephanie, I love your monologues. When you said "draw...with my hands" and then said you didn't know why you felt you had to say it. Just chuckled out loud. You are the best!!! Your new charts are great. I am not a sticker user, but I might want to check out the stickers you are selling for my youngest who flew the coop four years ago. I am a real empty nester, since I am divorced. being from the Midwest not saying my t's is definitely something that I have noticed. It doesn't bother me. It does however bother other ppl! I usually just give them a flat stare and repeat myself.

Steph, I love your vintage sayings. So truthful to me. I helped raise my niece, when her mom was not well, which lasted for quite a few years. She's very special to me. I never had my own babies, and taking care of her was my chance to be a mommy aunt. She's 20 now and I'm both scared and excited for her!! Mourning is not being a baby. It's a normal process we all go through when letting go of a person in our lives. Period, Amen. Blessings to you in all your life's journeys.😻🐈😢💖PS I love your sticker art. PPS I love buttons!

Love your new designs!! My son got married this year in March followed by my daughter graduating high school in May. She leaves for college in two weeks leaving me with an empty nest! For some reason my time to cry is my short commute to work each day.
