- For today, we have the @Geeetech A10M Color Mixing 3D printer and our Honest Opinion & First Impressions. We have been printing on this cool machine for a couple weeks now and after a little difficulty dialing in the settings for multi color printing, I have had some great success and the color mixing aspect is one of the coolest things I have seen in 3D printing for some time. And the prints look stunning!.
Huge thanks to Geeetech for sending us the A10M Color Mixing 3D printer to test and review on the channel.

Good to see it’s coming along so well with all the settings. I know they can be a challenge. Keep up the great work!
"...Low-poly Rose Twist Vase. This is one of my favorite prints to do on *any printer* because it's a vase mode print plus it looks really beautiful once it's printed." Awww... Thanks! =)
Timely to catch this -- I'm considering a Geeetech A20M. Thanks for a thorough review.
Very thorough and interesting overview Jeffrey, good job
Thanks Ian and thanks for watching, I appreciate the praise and the support.
Great video, thank you Jeffrey!
Thank you for sending the printer for us to review and have fun printing with! Appreciate you watching as well!
Hi Jeffrey! That's a cool feature, being able to mix the colors to get gradient blends on prints. It really makes for a nice vase print. It's a shame that the purge blocks for things like the CaliCat take so much filament, but I also understand that it takes a lot of purging to get the nozzle clear from one color to the other.
Thanks for doing this review!
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel and for your feedback! I do love this multi color printing and that purge block is huge, but I am sure the next version or update will give us Purge As Infill and that would be awesome!
Great stuff Jeffrey. I ordered one a couple of days ago and having seen your results, I'm really looking forward to the possibilities that it offers. Cheers, JAYTEE
Thanks and thanks for watching and supporting the channel! Most excellent, glad you joined the Color Mixing Revolution!
@@RansomMakes I actually ordered a CraneQuad some months ago and have a Palette Pro 2 coming as well, so colour mixing and multi colour / material printing is certainly going to be a revolution. Cheers, JAYTEE
Great look at the A10M!
Thanks Chris and thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Really fun printer and can't wait to print more mixed color prints!
Great video. Very informative.
Thanks for watching, glad I could help!
Mine just arrived, built and tested the lizard print, worked great. Now to try colour mixing
Those purge blocks are thicc. Love the gradient effects though.
They are huge! Thanks for watching and for your feedback!
Thanks for the video, I got one of these coming in the mail sometime...ya know overseas shipping. It'll get here when it gets here. Any chance I could get your S3D profile for this? And or some tips on basic settings, I have the profile set pretty basic for now with settings I think should be decent but I figured I would see if there is anything drastic I should look out for.
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. The printer is awesome, check the Facebook Forums, there is a lot of info there and the latest version of Simplify3D includes the A10M profile. If you cannot find it, reply back and I will send you mine.
@@RansomMakes I'd love yours as a starting point.
The nozzle size is M7.
Other nozzles do exist!, you can in fact get generics that'll fit.
How long does it take to color print one of these objects, say approximately 4"x3"x2" for a total of 24 square inches?
How long would it take to print say 1000 of them?
What is the cost of ink and material per 24 sq inch full color object? Assume we only need to print color on the outside surface and that the object isn't hollow.
Thank you
Hi I tried the colormixer. In the few tests I did it was possible to add more gradients, but it did not print them. The printer is only printing one gradient.
Other question: is it possible to add more gradients on the template ( mixer > the LCD screen) ?
Have you ever printed Carbon fiber PLA with the A10M? If so, which nozzle was used? What is the nozzle MK10 M7 or MK8 M6? Thank you in advance!!!
Hello, I’m having a hard time to configure this printer while I’m learning about 3d printers. What are your retraction settings? Regards
I am in the process of creating a website for all the settings for my printers, stay tuned!
Don't forget to dial in your settings 😁
@@justincuellar5651 ... doesn't matter. Just be super happy with the printing results ;)
Hello! when I'm trying to get go with Cura, and add the A10M to Cura, it doesnt show me the extruder 2 tab. so I cant set up the extruder 2. can you please help me with that
What would you reccomend for a fairly big 2 color printer for dissolvable supports? I'm trying to pick a good printer for my next 3d printer. I have a monoprice v2 but need something larger to fit bigger parts and scans. I was think cr10s. But a dissolvable support would be fantastic for some of my delicate prints
Well I would only recommend a multi extruder printer I have used and that is the @gCreate gMax 1.5XT+ with dual extruders for large scale. I would suggest looking at other channels that have reviewed more multicolor machines to make your decision, but please remember to come back here too and watch our content. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
Thank you for the review. Could you maybe show your settings? Or publish the s3d profile?
Thanks for the comment and for watching! I do plan on publishing all my settings for all slicers here in the coming weeks, I will be posting a little Channel Update video soon to so watch for that! I will also do a follow up video on just slicing and color mixing on the A10M for I think that is something the viewers would like to see.
@@RansomMakes Thank you very much.
HI may i know if the website for the settings is up already? @Print 3D Channel
Got a question. Im new to 3d printing and i hear a lot of you guys say when printing with duel extrusion you have a purge block. but cant you use the filament used in the purge block as infill / support. again im new and not sure if it is already the case or not
Thanks for your question! Some systems will do the purge as infill but currently Simplify3D is not set up to do that for multi color or material printing. There are others that do utilize the infill not a purge tower.
@@RansomMakes Thanks for your answer.. good to know it's not always a waste
Hello. Good video, is ti possible to have your S3D profile because I just buy this printer with S3D ans there isn't A10M Profile ( soory for my english bad I'm French) Thanks in advance
you're a damn fine unicorn
Well thank you, nice to know I am very much like a mythical creature! And thanks for watching!
I just got mine yesterday.
Can you please share your slice settings for the dual extrusion retraction? I can find nothing on this printer anywhere online and don't want to spend a whole week on trial and error.
Thanks
Awesome! It’s a fun printer! I will post and update the description with a link to my S3D profile. This is tuned to 4.0.1.
Thanks, not used it too much but it seems to work okay with Cura 3.5 Gcode. Having issues with stringing and under extrusion here and there. This is my first bowden printer.
What do you mean tuned to 4.0.1?
I wish CZcams would stop switching my identity when I sign in!! Urgh.
There is an update to S3D but this profile works best with version 4.0.1
@@RansomMakes I see. I use Cura exclusively. Seems okay mostly even when I try advanced settings like adaptive layers, however I'm getting big under extrusion issues with it throughout. I tightened the extruders to be very grippy and levelled the bed but on all layers the flow seems to be very stringy. Would like to know your settings. It might be because my filament is a bit old on the last bit of the reel so I might try some new stuff.
where can we buy extra spare parts for A10M printer. ? Thank you in advance
Check the geeetech website for parts.
please tell me what slicer software and settings you use for it?!
Simplify3D and I am in the process of creating a website for all the settings for my printers, stay tuned!
You should mention that the A10m and A20M are only available with one nozzle size 0.4 its a company-own size and you cant put any other nozzle sizes on that Hotend
Thats good to know, I should have mentioned that. Thanks for watching!
What??? I just ordered a pack of nozzles for this!
@@RansomMakes Damn it you're right. The nozzles I ordered won't fit. Geetech don't seem to sell any other size for it. This is just stupid. It's like buying a DSLR and finding out you can only ever use one lens ever. Can we not try Crealty Ender3 nozzles since it's a clone? Why would Geetech do this to it's customers while having an open source board and decent Marlin firmware? Doesn't make sense and they have now lost serious points in my opinion.
well , the mixing /heating block itself seems to have another diameter to allow the two flow channels to properly mix before it is pressed into the nozzle, therefore the edge of the nozzlehole within the mixingchamber does not allow a sharpe edge (as you would obtain with a regular nozzzle well at least, thats my guess however the upperside /heaterblockside of these nozzles are flat strange strange
@@jomiller7332 I've ordered a cheap Ender3 0.5mm nozzle from ebay, I'm going to see if it's the same, as from the pictures it does look the same. If it isn't I've lost £2.50. If it is, I've opened up a bigger world of printing.
Have you printed water soluble supports with it?
I have not, I am looking at experimenting with different materials soon. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
@Vertabreaker's 3DPrinting Hobby & Stuff Cheers!
Why are my mix colour prints only working on one half of the model? It's really weird and doesn't seem possible but my gradients go from left to right. When mixing colour, from LCD or the App, the left extruder seems to print on the left side and the right extruder comes out on the right side of the model, graduating from left to right as well as going up the model. Does it even form the supplied GCO file so I think it's a hardware issue.
Okay, I think I know the answer... the filaments are pushed straight down into the nozzle vertically, therefore when it comes out you have one colour one side and the other colour the other side of the nozzle. There is no mixing like water as the filament is thick. Maybe this is why we have Y shape extruders, to better mix the colours. I'm not sure what the fix would be here but my prints look nothing like yours.
@@ArcanePath360 I wonder if you're trying to print slightly too cold.
@@SianaGearz Thanks for the suggestion. The supplied Gcode files with this printer printed at 195 and I've been sticking with that because I get get layer adhesion and good overhangs with less stringing. The supplied dual colour model (lizard) came out great at this temp. Are you saying that you don't get this effect on your colour mixing? This would indicate that my explanation above needs revision. I might have to try upping my temps next time, and maybe this will melt the filament together more. Presently my colour mixing is like printing with stripy toothpaste.
@@SianaGearz Well I tried with raised temps (up to 208) and I'm still getting the pattern of one side being more dominant in the colour that is on that extruder. They just don't mix together completely in the heat chamber. I even tried slowing the printing down and a circular pattern so the liquid plastic can swirl around in the heat chamber.
@@ArcanePath360 ANY FIX? i have the same problem
I got my start in 3D printing with an SLA printer and now I am looking to get an FDM type. In your testing what would you recommend as the best printer of this type?
I have only test a small amount of printer to date, there are other channels that have volumes of printer reviews but the first thing to think about is how much money do you want to spend because you can get a FDM printer for under 200 bucks and in some cases even less. After you figure out your budget, then its what kind of skill level with FDM printers do you have because some of the sub 200 printers require upgrades or mods to get the best prints. Lots of factors involved in choosing a FDM printer these days and a lot of printers out there.
@@RansomMakes Thanks, yea I have no real budget and I have seen such inconsistency with these and found cheap ones that far outperform the absurdly expensive ones. Given the technology and materials are for the most part equal among all printers there is no justification for these over priced ones. I have been shopping for some time and getting feedback from everywhere. I only asked you because I find you to be level headed and someone I have come to trust. Thanks for the reply and the tips and thanks for the great content you create!
Do you have your S3D profile posted somewhere?
I have never noticed how much you blink while you talk xD
I bought one a few weeks ago and it is the biggest piece of junk with multiple manufacturing defects. Geeetech will not give any support because I bought it from a reseller and not directly from them. My advise is to buy something else.
I am sorry you had a poor experience, I have nothing but good things to say about their machines and service so i am sorry I can't agree with you.
How can one give a bad review when he gets his stuff for free ? that's just impossible. In other words, if the title of this video was "Opinion & First Impressions of this free printer that I got", I would have never wached it.
If the product was bad, I would point it out, that's the point of the title, Honest Opinion & First Impressions, paying for something doesn't adjust the optics of the review or the criteria for which it will be reviewed, but thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
How? It's pretty easy - for Jeffrey his opinion isn't bought, and "free" isn't payment for anything. If this is how you think, does this mean if you aquire something for free, you automatically sing it's praises no matter the quality? Perhaps, this just means Jeffrey is better than you?
@@RansomMakes That does not matter. If you put your own money from your own pocket, your have something extremely personal to consider which is completely out of scope when you get the stuff for free. And even if you talk about the price and try to put it in perspective, you did NOT actually put the money on the table.
But as a professional, and I consider myself professional, I am not going to sugar coat something or not point out a flaw to later have it pointed out to me as something I overlooked or didn't mention. that is just bad business and this is a business. And after that flaw or issue is pointed out by another, do you think anyone would trust my opinion again? My job as a Reviewer of Products is to review, and for the record, I didn't ask for any of these, the channel has proven itself as a trustworthy source for all things 3D printing and the companies approached me with the products for they know my reputation as an honest and straightforward guy. I put my time; which is money, my video production skills, which is money, and my time on social media promoting the review, which is also money. So really, I have spent money of my own, beyond the product, that qualifies me to give an Honest Opinion & First Impression and know it is just that.
