You definitely reroll all 3 dice from the primus when using meticulous planning. The rulebook states any instance of a reroll REQUIRES you reroll all the dice involved in that roll unless it states otherwise.
Abberants have FNP 5+ as well post tooth and claw.

Great game, very exciting and close. I thought the guest players (st Andrews wargaming) had some extraordinarily poor rolls which might have led to a frustrating first turn, but you really have to admire how he didn't throw in the towel and used every trick in the book to claw back a fighting finish for the match. This game was really close and I think both players were underestimating each other. What I mean is that the game started with a narrative focus but thr skill of each player naturally brought the tension and tactical decision making to tournament level by the last two turns. Winters definitely had a shooting advantage, and with those genestealer whiffs in the beginning the advantage was pressed hard. But then Andrews played the objectives and had a shocking lead mid game.
Learned some tricks with combat maneuvering and target priority.

great battle, cult battles are always filled with so much suspense, just like an Alien film, you just never know when or where those bugs will jump scare you!

Heya winters, would you mind doing a video on how you dress your tables?
I can recognise quite a few terrain-elements coming back (even though you seem to have a huge collection ;p), but somehow you always seem to do stuff with the little bits and bobs and stones to make the table look fresh and engaging.

Alderboran I agree, would love to hear about this, the variation of each battle grid keeps me coming back because each battle never feels the same and it’s always a good watch!! :)
All it is is a bag/bucket full of pebbles/small debris this also includes things like Woodland Scenics lichen. I suspect that the pebbles could just be ballast from Woodland Scenics as well.
Once you've got all your big pieces on the board you just sprinkle the pebbles about the board in a manner that looks pleasing. It's really quite simple. It makes setup and takedown take FOREVER but the board does look nice.
I agree too, a video every now and then, or a few minutes in front of each batrep detailing your theory...
There exist at least one Winters SEO video where he shows the preparation. You might just need to dig through his Uploads :)

As usual great report! Awesome to see Cultists on the table and they are sneaky too...
So on 1:03:57 the cultist decides that hit roll in the middle of the rocks is not cocked... but all the other previous failed rolls on top of something were cocked... this really GRINDS my gears.
I would love to see a rematch after the codex drops. Beautiful models on both sides. Great bat rep as always Winters!!

Winters! Not sure whether you just misremembered, but inceptors are 45pts per man, as they need to take the two assault bolters at 10 each on top of 25 base cost. Love the rep and all your stuff man, keep it up :)

The Genestealer won´t be allowed to pile in to fight as he wont activate in the turn anymore. Only charging units activate or units which are within 1 inch of an enemy model. Neither nor the case for the single genestealer.
Beautiful looking table by the way! I really enjoy the narrative aspect of these bat reps. I'm a narrative gamer at heart, the story matters!

Winters. Listening to your sentence where you mentioned the inceptor cost 35 points a model I first thought you just said it wrong. Because one model with assault bolter cost 45 points.
So I quickly recalculated your army. It ends up south of 2100 points. So you got your inceptors understated in cost. FYI.

Just so you're aware, at 29:40. When the die rolls 3 ones in a row, the die had actually gotten rid of all of its bad karma for the match and would have only had good karma. but by throwing the die away, your opponent actually got rid of his good karma, thus turning it into more bad karma. Yin Yang balance my friend.

While this battle wasn’t one sided I just have a predisposed bias towards genestealers cause of the cult ambush. The big reason why also is mini war’s mat battle reports. It’s just that he gerrymanders rules (he “accidentally” forgot that he gets only one free unit per game, and instead just added in 20 free purestrands each turn in an ork vs genestealers game) so I’m glad it wasn’t a dead on arrival sort of thing.

I think it would be awesome if they had a rematch once the new codex comes out with all of those ATVs and gunslingers on this exact same map. The follow up match as both sides try to finally secure the facility.

1. They won't be done releasing Codexes after GSC (SoB for example will only come Q4 2019).
2. The Vigilus campaign will go on for quite some time. The second book is already written even.
3. We don't even know when they're going to release the first Vigilus campaign book. It's entirely possible that they're going to release the GSC codex before the campaign begins.

This is an awesome landscape I love it!
Barricades give the bonus if all the models in the unit are in 1" (and barricade is closer than the target), not if the unit is simply within 1".
I'm not sure if the first Genestealers kept the coherency on the charge, the second (the last one) consolidated without a charge nor a Heroic Intervention.

I would love to see a rematch with these two gorgeous armies. Great narrative as usual, Winters. A bit if criticism for your opponent next time he plays on the channel. It was a chore to listen to the constant complaining about dice rolls for an hour and 45 minutes. Winters kept trying to artfully weave the poor luck into the narrative like he usually does but this guy was so hyper focused on the dice rolls he didn't catch on and was triggered by almost every roll with some sort of comment or sound of disgust. Sometimes when you play competitively too much, all you focus on are the dice rolls and your enjoyment of the game suffers. I'm not hating on the guy, just an observation. Looking forward to seeing a rematch with a new codex and some more gorgeous genestealer cult models. Thanks for sharing.
Apologies for that. It was spread out over the course of many hours during the game, but in the short(ish) length of the video, it does come across as annoying.
I disagree, I barely noticed it and only after the really above average rolls. Also it's hard not to get frustrated when you're up against amazing rolls on invuns. I'd like to see anyone who would take that set of invun saves on the jump captain and the normal captain 2 turns in a row without any comment at all!

@@tomgreen8916 The dice were undoubtedly against the guest. If it were a few comments it would not have stuck out. Just because you didn't notice it doesn't mean it wasn't constant throughout the report, as it was. To say anything else is being disingenuous. Editing and such surely contributed to how it came across as the guest said. Only winters and the guest were in the room for the entirety of the game, so the tone was lost if it was in good humor. As was stated before it was just an observation. Not hateful.
Never thought the Smurfs were up for such low level grunt work like checking installations :D

It is. It just didn't come into effect in this game, as the unit was wiped out before they got a chance to attack.

I'm not saying this to drag you off the channel, but considering your interest in Necrons, check out the Miniwargaming 'just the luka the dice' videos as Luka plays necrons a massive amount, he tends to use interesting lists too.
A while back he did fight Necrons in 8th edition but I don't remember how well they remembered the rules in that.

Aberrants have a 5+ save from bestial vigor which would have saved one wound from the aberrants at the end of turn 2.
To choose a unit to fight in the fight phase there must be a enemy unit within 1 inch. this is not a check that is done at the start of the phase so when a unit is in combat with two or more units and is wiped out by one before the other swings it cannot then be chosen so it does not get to pile in or consolidate. this is because it no longer has a enemy unit within 1 inch so it is no longer an eligible unit. (pg 182 core rule book)

Correct, if you charged that turn, you can still make your pile in and consolidation.

could you do a batrep 1v1v1 imperium vs chaos vs xenos? i think that would be fun, but do it as an apocolypse game. each faction has a corner or a side of the table and the units then the heavy units so on and so forth. i would really like to see that!
Genestealers turn 1 shooting phase was so awful that it gave me a painful frothing diarrhea attack.
