  • This is our national overview for Dominions 6 covering Middle Age T'ien Ch'i. We will go into the nuances of MA T'ien Ch'i and give an overview of their troops and commanders, what spells to look for and give some examples of pretenders. Hopefully I can guide new players in how they can start to play this fantastic game.

    Dominions 6 is a turn based 4x strategy game suitable for both play vs AI, player vs player. Team play vs AI or players also works great as everyone can do their turns at once. The game has a huge variety of units, spells, magic items and different nations to play.
    You are a God! You are master and ruler of a loyal nation. You have unimaginable powers at your disposal. You have claimed this world as yours. But there are others who stand in your way. You must defeat and destroy these pretenders. Only then can you ascend to godhood and become the new Pantokrator.

    11:11 if it still works like in Dominions 5 (and I haven't been feed misinformation, which has happened), then they don't INCREASE the chance of getting good events by 2%, but rather GIVE a chance of getting good events of 2% (functionally that means while the amount of random events per nation is limited, a few things get around that, basically the always and always when spell active commands for modding, think the hurricanes from Gale Gate, tough bringer of fortune and bringer of misfortune are also outside of that limit, meaning that having 100 bringer of fortune 2 units can give 0-100 good events per turn instead of guaranteeing 2, oh btw for those that don't know: the number on fortune teller is a percentage chance)

      Aah interesting! That does make that trait even better and taking misfortune with the nation even more appealing! Well if you can say that about misfortune...
      I'll have to do some more testing to confirm but that's a very good thing to know! I'll pin your comment up top so others can see it!

      @@ChazzyBurger generally you still want to combine it with Luck, because some better events are unlocked with luck scales, so that you would get more for each good event, in the Dom5 mod inspector I remember it mainly being how many gems a event can give, but some will outright not happen below a certain scale, it's mainly luck/misfortune that affects this, but other scales do such things too, like the especially hot summer giving fire gems requiering heat scales (which is likely as it only happenes in summer), I also think that some of the automatic loss of provinces events are locked behind misfortune scales, remember events are NOT static, they are very much influenced by many things, mainly the scales of the province they happen in, if I want to base a play on firebirds of the russian nations, I try to get luck and magic as high as possible, because that combination gives the most gems in general and when going towards neutral or heat temperature, the hot summer gives extra fire gems especially

    late game MA tienchi when you can sling 30+ casts of gifts from heaven each turn while casting every battlefield wide buff in existence is glorious, the true 'fortunate son starts playing' nation

      It's fantastic, really does the work against traditional armies, though once battlefield wipes start coming out from super combatants you really start to struggle, though having a bunch of soul slay boys on standby helps vs that!

    I actually played MA Tien'Chi just recently, and I really enjoyed them. Glad to see a video about them. Also, love your channel in general, here's hoping it grows!

      They're a fun nation! They do feel a tad ponderous and slow but I think that makes them feel more unique especially in comparison to some of the faster raider nations. Glad you had fun with them and enjoyed the video! And thanks a lot for the kind words!

    Great video, very thorough, thank you for your efforts.
    I wanted to add couple of thoughts:
    - At construction 6, you have battlefield wide Legion of Steel that wasn't in Dom 5, which is easy for geomancers to cast and gives your imperial troops 18 body armor and 21 head
    - The addition of glamour to Master of the Way makes them more useful, especially with Twilight they can cast group luck for no gems, and luck synergy well with Gifts from Heaven
    - Huli Jing can cast Twilight and then Nightfall to make all your summons with spirit sight better if opponent has no dark vision, MA Tien Chi in Dom 5 had no easy way to get battlefield darkness
    - You have water/glamour crosspath to get Water Kobold sailing commanders which is helpful for moving around slow map move 8 infantry

      Glad you enjoyed the video and some great points!
      - Yep, legion of steel on top of the stone skin really makes your troops quite tanky, and with some ferocity thaumaturgy on top you can actually make them into an ok fighting force! Stacking some natural protection on top of your imperial troops fairly good armour really makes a difference!
      -Twilight is good for your casters for glamour, that's for sure, however that will impact your archers which I find to be pretty core for your damage before your big communions come online, however if you have nations that can easily cast air shield, then that's a great shout. Twist fate can't be ignored either so that your friendlies can ignore that meteor that just landed on top of their head too!
      -Again a great point for utilising dark vision against those that don't. I do find that the main issues you have in the MA is nations that use undead, Ermor and especially Sceleria, in which case that doesn't help you unfortunatly. The fact that you can use this as an option for the nation is great for it, I agree.
      -Another great point for helping your infantry get around, especially if you're using cold scales which make your mapmove even worse. Water kobolds and gnomes are both quite useful for you for getting up past the limit to your paths your national units have!

    Took the nation in dom 5 to get into the game. Still lots of diffrent path, diffrent troops, quite nice to test things out, what works, what not as there are a lot of options

    I think an imprisoned frost father can get a beefy red guard bless, something like: blood surge, undying x4, blur, swiftness, enchanted blood, x1 AS/DS with good scales to boot.
    Thanks for the video; misfortune 3 is so scary, and I routinely play with misfortune 2 lol.

      Undying and enchanted blood are really good combos for human units, especially cavalry as they get the regen for both the rider and mount. The master is a nice chassis for a rainbow because he only costs 90 points for the nation, but thanks to the two paths if you're wanting higher air and water vs astral the frost fathers a great choice.
      Misfortune 3 is very scary! Misfortune as a whole is so much worse in dominions 6 compared to previous examples, but with fortune teller you can slightly offset how awful it is, which is nice!

    I usually stick to more focused nations, in regards to magic paths, but kind of been toying with trying TC. which age would you recommend?
    unless there is another nation you think would be easier?
    communions scare me haha!

      Personally I prefer MA T'ien Ch'i because of their magic diversity, but if you wanted one without so many communions EA is always fun. I personally haven't played much of the LA version so can't comment much on it.
      Communions scared me as well for the longest time! It was my MP game as T'ien Ch'i that I finally managed to wrap my head around them, somewhat!

    What would you say about a heroism undying e.blood solar wep. buff for bless? MA TC lacks big comeback against undead, and spiritsight-twilight combo doesnt work against them. You also dont have MoD to mass against, so against undead you are going to need some plan.

      It can certainly work! I don't think you have enough sacreds as MA T'ien Ch'i to use it as a consistent undead counter, but it could be an interesting bless if you wanted to use sacreds commanders with bows of war to have a wide shotgun of anti undead in addition to your summons and cav.
      In terms of your counters to undead you have access to solar rays with your communions for a small aoe 1 damaging spell, which doesn't sound a lot but all of your communion masters will be able to cast it, so if you have 10 masters casting this they'll deal with undead pretty well.
      Late game you can use a combo of solar brilliance and antimagic to deal with large undead armies, while reducing the number of your own units that are blinded. If you don't want to hurt your own troops, using something like cleansing water will also do a large aoe damage against undead too.
      Additionally, if you can break into death getting those casters into your communions will let you use wither bones to really destroy armies of undead, you just have to be careful of the fatigue on your summons.
