I remember when CZcams went through policy hell in 2015-17 with demonitization and almost entirely banning swearing and people started moving to twitch once it started advertising it’s less strictness and now it’s the opposite twitch is being money hungry and streamers are moving to CZcams for near risk free streaming
I'm a Twitch affiliate as well and I've noticed myself the mass exodus of viewers from the platform as well. This is truly the death of the platform for ALL of us regardless of what you're talking about anyway. Is it time to jump ship and go to KICK now!?

Now, these are very popular games with a lot of young people playing them, and one particular meme from Star rail was one of the characters Japanese attack voice lines "KURU KURU!" Somebody took those adorable voice lines (which were already a meme because of how freaking cute they were) and vocoded it over the Super Mario world ending theme, specifically the part that you hear in the "pet the X" memes. That video currently has 2.2 million views on CZcams. Guess where the video came from? Facebook. That's right, FACEBOOK spawned a viral meme for a popular gocha game. If you actually care about growing your audience, stream everywhere at once, CZcams, TikTok, kick, and yes, even Facebook.
Lifecycle of a company: 1. 3 dudes in a basement get an idea 2. they work their ass off to make it work 3. they are suddenly rich and make an actual company 4. they retire and let other people take care of it 5. those people implement dumb changes because their company ego is too high 6. eventually people get tired of their bullshit and move business elsewhere

Over the last day or two the group I am with has noticed that Twitch has silently made 6 different revisions in their ToS without publicly notifying folks each with varying adjustments as if they cannot decide on what they want to do. My friend legitimately went to have something for lunch and not even after that short amount of time did he press f5 to reload and they changed stuff in it again from what he's been keeping up with.

Frankly, if CZcams decided to actually _try_ at making their streaming section more navigable and fleshed out instead of just occasionally bribing Twitch streamers to switch over, Twitch wouldn't stand a chance. Every year I witness Twitch sink deeper and it perplexes me why CZcams won't invest more time into improving their streaming interface.
CZcams doesn't need to that's why. Despite how much ppl complain, CZcams has become almost a must have. Twitch is niche and will always be. CZcams just has to wait and they will outlive Twitch easily.

This is a stepping stone. As you said, this is a means to force every streamer to get their sponsorship through Twitch. However, eventually Twitch will adopt a policy similar to the UFC where if a sponsor is not directly affiliated with Twitch, you are not allowed to stream in association with that sponsor. For context, the UFC adopted a similar policy where a fighter can only dedicate a small percentage of their kit to endorsements. A short time later, UFC fighters had to adopt a policy where a fighter was banned from endorsing competing companies who were otherwise directly affiliated with the UFC company brand. I. E. a fighter endorsed by Under Armour or Nike could no longer where Under Armour or Nike kit because the UFC as a company now has a contractual sponsorship with Reebok. Refusal to adhere to UFC policy invalidates any agreement to fight in the UFC forthwith. So imagine for a moment that a game streamer could no longer stream or had to suspend their stream because it was found out that this poor streamer was using a PC built by CyberPower, or Origin, or Digital Storm; and they violated Twitch policy because company policy clearly states that in order stream you must adhere to the company endorsement and be using a PC made by Acer or maybe even Apple; and this just steamrolls down the line. To what boom mics you can use, to what headsets can be used, what books livereader's are allowed to feature; all the way down to what chairs you are allowed to sit in should you even decide to continue live casting instead of Vcast.
creators cant burn in ad bits any more but twitch can completely hijack your stream to place ads whether you want them to or not. Truly an incredible development.
I've never been much of a twitch person over the last 10 years. But a friend of mine started streaming on Twitch. So i've been using the platform more so I can support her, good lord is the ad experience there miserable. I only had 1 blocker installed before Twitch, and it's worked fine making sure I'm not getting invasive ads all over the place. It *DOES NOT* work on Twitch, instead it just makes the site crash every 15 minutes. I've had to hunt down 3 other blocking extensions, all of which break at some point and have to be disabled until they get updated. It's a *miserable* experience and I have been discouraged from looking for new streamers on Twitch.
I’ve basically stopped using twitch in it’s entirety because unless I’m subbed I’m generally met with 2-6 minutes of ads just entering a stream. So raids etc are just a inconvenience to the viewer now. I join a raid and I get to see the streamer in a tiny box in the corner of my ads. Why sit through those ads when I can just watch any other service and have less to no ads? They’re killing smaller streamers chance of gaining an audience as well so they’re not even lucrative to streamers.

I have ad blockers just as you, but whenever ads start playing I don't click off and I watch them through or at least leave them on in the background, so I can do my part supporting the streamer I'm watching. What we're complaining about here isn't that we have to watch any ads at all during a stream. It's that Twitch is now trying to completely prohibit SPONSOR ads from playing, and only want their own ads to play.

Advertisers will want this and twitch has done it with their blessing. Advertisers can now go directly to twitch, the one stop shot, and twitch can now offer cheaper rates as they get a cut of everything. I'm no expert but I very much doubt these changes were made without consulting advertisers who collectively have the most clout in the social media space.
This is when we get another tv…set it behind the streamer and let it play the ad. If twitch has something to say you let them know that the tv is part of the sponsored package deal and their policy says you’re allowed to have the physical sponsored content behind you during stream.
Twitch took the phrase “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” to a different level. They’re literally massacring the hand and saying “what? I didn’t do anything wrong?”

There has to have been thousands of videos with millions of views talking about how top streamers are leaving and all of these policies are garbage yet they still refuse to change course at all. It is genuinely insane to me how companies think tightening the leash for extra money is ever a good idea, these are the people who pay your bills. CZcams has only been allowed to stay competitive, despite diving headfirst into the shittiest decisions possible, because every rival that pops up is trying to speedrun those same bad decisions. These companies are so busy jerking themselves off over who can be the worst that somehow none of them actually take the lead for too long.
As stupid as some of CZcams’s changes have been, most of them have been pretty small compared to other apps just destroying themselves, and I respect that.
I'm kinda tired of seeing ads on CZcams despite having CZcams Premium. This is a double-edged sword. The only solution is how the advertising sponsors change their guidelines. I remember when CZcams went through policy hell in 2015-17 with demonitization and almost entirely banning swearing and people started moving to twitch once it started advertising it’s less strictness and now it’s the opposite twitch is being money hungry and streamers are moving to CZcams for near risk free streaming

Now, these are very popular games with a lot of young people playing them, and one particular meme from Star rail was one of the characters Japanese attack voice lines "KURU KURU!" Somebody took those adorable voice lines (which were already a meme because of how freaking cute they were) and vocoded it over the Super Mario world ending theme, specifically the part that you hear in the "pet the X" memes. That video currently has 2.2 million views on CZcams. Guess where the video came from? Facebook. That's right, FACEBOOK spawned a viral meme for a popular gocha game. If you actually care about growing your audience, stream everywhere at once, CZcams, TikTok, kick, and yes, even Facebook.

Over the last day or two the group I am with has noticed that Twitch has silently made 6 different revisions in their ToS without publicly notifying folks each with varying adjustments as if they cannot decide on what they want to do. My friend legitimately went to have something for lunch and not even after that short amount of time did he press f5 to reload and they changed stuff in it again from what he's been keeping up with.

This is a stepping stone. As you said, this is a means to force every streamer to get their sponsorship through Twitch. However, eventually Twitch will adopt a policy similar to the UFC where if a sponsor is not directly affiliated with Twitch, you are not allowed to stream in association with that sponsor.
For context, the UFC adopted a similar policy where a fighter can only dedicate a small percentage of their kit to endorsements. A short time later, UFC fighters had to adopt a policy where a fighter was banned from endorsing competing companies who were otherwise directly affiliated with the UFC company brand. I. E. a fighter endorsed by Under Armour or Nike could no longer where Under Armour or Nike kit because the UFC as a company now has a contractual sponsorship with Reebok. Refusal to adhere to UFC policy invalidates any agreement to fight in the UFC forthwith.
So imagine for a moment that a game streamer could no longer stream or had to suspend their stream because it was found out that this poor streamer was using a PC built by CyberPower, or Origin, or Digital Storm; and they violated Twitch policy because company policy clearly states that in order stream you must adhere to the company endorsement and be using a PC made by Acer or maybe even Apple; and this just steamrolls down the line. To what boom mics you can use, to what headsets can be used, what books livereader's are allowed to feature; all the way down to what chairs you are allowed to sit in should you even decide to continue live casting instead of Vcast.

I've never been much of a twitch person over the last 10 years. But a friend of mine started streaming on Twitch. So i've been using the platform more so I can support her, good lord is the ad experience there miserable. I only had 1 blocker installed before Twitch, and it's worked fine making sure I'm not getting invasive ads all over the place. It *DOES NOT* work on Twitch, instead it just makes the site crash every 15 minutes. I've had to hunt down 3 other blocking extensions, all of which break at some point and have to be disabled until they get updated. It's a *miserable* experience and I have been discouraged from looking for new streamers on Twitch.
I’ve basically stopped using twitch in it’s entirety because unless I’m subbed I’m generally met with 2-6 minutes of ads just entering a stream. So raids etc are just a inconvenience to the viewer now. I join a raid and I get to see the streamer in a tiny box in the corner of my ads. Why sit through those ads when I can just watch any other service and have less to no ads? They’re killing smaller streamers chance of gaining an audience as well so they’re not even lucrative to streamers.

What we're complaining about here isn't that we have to watch any ads at all during a stream. It's that Twitch is now trying to completely prohibit SPONSOR ads from playing, and only want their own ads to play.

Advertisers will want this and twitch has done it with their blessing. Advertisers can now go directly to twitch, the one stop shot, and twitch can now offer cheaper rates as they get a cut of everything.

I think the craziest part about this is that it doesn’t necessarily matter if they push this through or not - big creators that have their own ties to brands and their own networking are likely already planning exit strategy just because they even suggested this idea at all

@@Zavalas_SMT Thats because youre used to it now. In 2014 you had like one 30 second ad playing before a 3 hour long video and you could still skip that ad after 5 seconds or so. Now you sometimes have to watch ads longer than the actual videos youre watching. Thats because CZcams really wants you to buy Premium. Better to just use adblock. Fuck em. Twitch ads are arguably worse, though, that shit is getting close to Free-Tv ad breaks already, its only a matter of time

This one is especially wild because it's exactly the OPPOSITE kind of stupid that every other company is doing. Twitch is forcing you to not do ads, and everywhere else is forcing you to see as many giant ads as possible.

Things like Star Wars, Marvel, and Budweiser...companies like Disney and Hollywood in general, Target, and now Twitch, and those are only the most ridiculous examples.
I swear, they'll teach entire college courses on how NOT to run a company that focuses on Disney's plummet from the top to their record fall to losing 1/4 trillion dollars a QUARTER and ultimately their demise.

CZcams has only been allowed to stay competitive, despite diving headfirst into the shittiest decisions possible, because every rival that pops up is trying to speedrun those same bad decisions. These companies are so busy jerking themselves off over who can be the worst that somehow none of them actually take the lead for too long.
As stupid as some of CZcams’s changes have been, most of them have been pretty small compared to other apps just destroying themselves, and I respect that.

I'm kinda tired of seeing ads on CZcams despite having CZcams Premium. This is a double-edged sword. The only solution is how the advertising sponsors change their guidelines. I don't want my fav creators going broke and I also don't want to get ads despite paying my hard-earned money for Premium. That's just my perspective
Twitch is like a restaurant owner that underpays their empoyees and tells them to make it up with tips but then takes 90% of the tips too.
