Replaced the starter on a 1971 VW Westfalia bus & removed the hard start relay - Garage Talk Series

Spent my Sunday removing the starter on the bus, well, because it wasn’t starting. Not even the ol’ hammer trick started it anymore. I picked up a new one and installed it. Then removed the extension cord wires and mess of a hard start relay.
We’re now starting and running once again!

Maybe I missed it but where did you buy the new starter form?
I’ve had horrible luck with the auto stick starters from autozone over the years.

I got it from advanced auto. I tried to get a bosche one but was unable to. I actually got the one in the beetle from them about 15 years ago and is still working. 🤞🏼
