    This is absolutely a beautiful rifle. You guys clearly take a lot of care in making/customizing them. Your experience in the craft is clearly evident! I’m definitely considering looking into your services.
    I love my Rem 700, 7mm Rem Mag and am looking forward to more from the 7mm series.

    It would be great to work up hand loads with the 280 AI with 180g Berger VLD hunting and post the results in accuracy and velocity. This is a direct competitor to the 7 PRC at the speeds most are shooting 180's out of. I am shooting the 162 at 3000 fps out of a 25", and for my hunting, this load really does a good job, IMR 7828 with 210 primers.

      It's funny you said that. Subscribe to our channel. This year we will be doing exactly that and more. Not with the Berger 180 but with the 160 CX. We're not Target Bullet Fans.
      But we will be doing a 7mm Showdown video series comparing 280AI, 7 PRC, 7 Rem Mag and 28 Nosler.
      I agree with you that when we lean on them, the 280AI wont be far behind the 7 PRC.
      Thanks for watching, stay tuned!

    Yep, mbm brakes are a great brake. I run one on my 28 nosler - 7 SAUM switch barrel rifle.

      Pretty hard to beat for the price. I use to run Terminators, but the MBM's work just as well and at almost half the price.
      Thanks for watching!

    What do you estimate the cost of rifle with and without your sight in service? Thank you.

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 2 měsíci +1

      At the time we ordered all the parts it landed around $4275 without the optic, bipod, rings, a hard airline case, tax, shipping, etc. Just the rifle.
      Parts cost are constantly changing, up and down. If you're seriously considering working with us, we can schedule a call to discuss your needs.

    Most sense I’ve ever heard made on long shots on game…”anything over 1sec flight time is to long”….seen these ol Ky whitetails react in a blink of an eye and duck a bullet and many a arrow..last 2 I took at 40yrds with 6”trp 10mm usin 155gr xtp@1400ish …1moa rmr put him down easy..performance was great as I hit spine and it done a number on ol boy…itchin to put a 95gr .264” v max@3600fps on anything preferably coyote but they smell the death round here I test so many loads..lol..h4350 in my 6.5prc puts those 95s on a 🚀 and all will touch if I hold still. 👊🏻

      You have to draw the line somewhere. Just because I can hit stuff farther than 1 sec time of flight, doesn't mean I should.

    WOW. The 280 AI ! If ammo and more rifes were made for it , I think it would be the most useful and versatile cartridge in the world . But NO the slightly inferior 30-06 is, because it came out first as a military round that carries over into the civilian market. That is why I own the 30-06 and not a 280AI.
    The 30-06 is cheaper to load and shoot. Gives more trigger time. At closer range on heavier game , a 220 grain beats a 7mm 175 grain bullet. We can go on and on comparing pluse and minuses of various cartridges, but the 7mm caliber paired with 30-06 capacity case or slightly greater is goldilocks. Just right , considering recoil, ballistic performance, and killing power on non-dangers medium to large game at practical hunting ranges. It is up to the individual how to define "practical hunting ranges"

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 4 měsíci

      All great points Jay. The recoil and ballistic performance are the key. Better hit probability AND more pleasurable to shoot.

    • @jaybailleaux630
      @jaybailleaux630 Před 4 měsíci

      @LittleCrowGunworks There are 2 contenders to a 280AI. The 284 Winchester and the 6.5 PCR necked up to 7mm. The internal ballisct theory that short fat cartridges case design gives greater uniformity for combustion of smokeless powder. The 6 ppc and 6br claim to fame was their short fat cases gave more accuracy with the shorter powder columns. I have my doubts . I have seen no studies and experiments to prove that.

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 3 měsíci

      The benefit you're talking about is there for all the cartridges you mentioned. But for hunting applications, the added precision and consistency those cartridges offer isn't worth the extra work to own them. Keep it simple. Animals are big targets. The shooter is the biggest chink in the armor.

    You don't need the muzzle break on an Ackley Improved .280. Recoil is exceptionally mild.

    • @chipsterb4946
      @chipsterb4946 Před 3 měsíci

      I was wondering about that.

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You don't need a muzzle brake on a 280 Ackley, but it REALLY HELPS keep the rifle on target during recoil. Which should be everyone's goal if they shoot long range. Especially if you're hunting. You need to be able to spot your own impacts.

      (Not meaning to be a smart@ss.)
      But, if you or anyone else can't take the recoil of the .280 Ackley, you might need to step down to something like the .243 or 6mm. Both are more than adequate for deer size game. Having a muzzle break on the .280 Ackley Improve is like having training wheels on a motocross bike.. Totally unnecessary.
      Aside from looking ridiculous.

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 3 měsíci

      It has nothing to do with "taking recoil". It has to do with preventing the gun from moving as much as possible. It's evident that you are against muzzle brakes on this size cartridge. That's fine, you do you. But the number of people who request a muzzle brake on their custom hunting rifle, outnumber people like you about 20 to 1.
      Ever wonder why almost every new rifle comes with a threaded muzzle? It's not an accident. You're a dying breed.

    Let me say this, if you use Lapua brass as a foundation, get ready for the shock of your life!

    • @LittleCrowGunworks
      @LittleCrowGunworks  Před 7 měsíci +1

      To make everything FAIR, all 4 cartridges will be using virgin Peterson Brass. Which we already have. Because that is the only high quality brass manufacturer that makes brass for those 4 cartridges.
      All 4 cartridges will be loaded as long as the reamer allows, not just to 3.340" COAL and all 4 cartridges will be tested with the 160gr CX and leaned on just as hard with appropriate powders in 26" barrels.
      It's going to be an eye opening series for anyone who watches it. It's going to ruffle lots of feathers!
