The problem is not documented legals, but undocumented illegals. When my family came to the U.S. in 1970 we had to go through background checks and physical exams. My parents worked 3 factory jobs each, left at 5 in the morning and came back at midnight. They did not go on welfare.
My parents immigrated to Canada from two of Britains former colonies when they became independent. My father was British educated and had his science degree. It took him 6 years from 1948 to 1954 to finally be admitted to Canada. They moved here and had to start all over but there was no welfare and they both worked. They always appreciated the opportunity and life they received from this country but they also contributed to it.

When my family came to the U.S. in 1970 we had to go through background checks and physical exams. My parents worked 3 factory jobs each, left at 5 in the morning and came back at midnight. They did not go on welfare.
My parents immigrated to Canada from two of Britains former colonies when they became independent. My father was British educated and had his science degree. It took him 6 years from 1948 to 1954 to finally be admitted to Canada. They moved here and had to start all over but there was no welfare and they both worked. They always appreciated the opportunity and life they received from this country but they also contributed to it.
