My feelings exactly. I grew up listening to them and loved them from day 1. Karen is SO precious, you can tell what a sweet & caring person she is. I love her speaking voice and when she sang there was no one else that could touch your emotions the way she did. I am still heartbroken over her passing. I miss her to this day and what music we could have had from her and Richard.
I really wish she could have seen her beauty the way most of the world saw it. I actually wrote an essay when I was in 12th grade, titled "My Friend Karen". I really wish I could've known her & maybe could've helped save her life.
Now just how damn adorable is young Karen in this? She just had that radiant smile, and goofy giggle at meeting old friends and being shy about baseball. Never mind that she occupied the most magical voice.
I'm watching this with a smile on my face but also with a tear in my eye knowing what would eventually happen the smiles the laughter from the both of them sad she never could see or accept what every one else saw in her beauty talent and a wonderful figure
The Carpenters were very gracious and deserving of this accolade. What wonderful, classy people! I have admired them for as long as I can remember. I feel for Richard now without his sister these many years. I hope he is doing well.
The Carpenters music still resonates with me today. They were a one of a kind sibling group. I could listen to their music everyday. Too bad Karen passed away so young. A really lovely surprise for these two stars. Theres been so much said about the mother rejecting Karen all her life which affected Karen. This show is the first time we see her parents..noting the body language of Agnes Carpenter. She is only taking a shine to her son Richard and bearly glimpsing a look at Karen. Subtle jealousy. RIP dear Karen.

I heard the interview with Richard on Larry King, he was asked about it by a caller and he said they were genuinely surprised. They were dressed up because Herb Alpert told them there would be a party for them.

She was so incredibly genuine and little girl like.
Her friends say she was incredibly naeive. Its how she got taken by her husband who was after her money. She grew up sheltered by her family.
