The hat shop looks amazing, it's definitely on my list for next time I'm in Singapore ... whenever that may be. The idea of having a proper, well fiting hat is appealing.
@17:36..I stayed opposite those houses from 1964 to 1973 and had some friends staying there. There beach was only 3 mins walk then. There use to be a small Malay kampong before reaching the beach. 17:04 Near the road entrance use to be Cona’s Confectionery and they had one of the best cakes and puffs.
The houses were not colourful at that period. My father had a banana shop(now disappeared from history) on Geylang Road, near the end of Joo Chiat Road, where there was a market.
as a homebody, going out is something i'd rather not do. i miss going out sometimes haha! with your vlogs, i can do all the "travelling" from the comfort of my home! what's also amazing is the way you filmed feels as if i'm out and about with you
So happy to watch a new vlog from you! Just goes to show that there's always something new to learn and somewhere new to visit even if you've been in one place for so long :) Yes, I agree that Jasmine should become a walking tour leader, if she wants to! She has a lot of interesting details to share about the Joo Chiat area. Also, those hats you tried on at Bill's place are all lovely!
Yay you made it to my street Joo Chiat Terrace! A little further down, opposite the Intan is probably one of the last few old provision shops set in a residential house in Singapore. Hope to see you again soon. I’ve really enjoyed being a tourist in Singapore by watching your local vlogs.

I wonder if Chinese people realize that they accept people with blonde hair & blue eyes MORE than someone who is mixed race and fair skinned? If Chinese people can accept dark skinned Indians, why can’t they accept me, someone with fair skin? I have worked with them, and they don’t like me or my culture. I have 3 generations of family in Singapore who suffered through WWII. As a Singaporean, I am ashamed my own people have treated me so poorly, and they keep bringing foreigners into their own country. People like me are just as Singaporean as a Chinese person. I am talented and worked so hard to grow the company I worked for. But, because they would rather hire foreigners to replace them, let them destroy their own country. I’m glad I can choose to work in a western country, where I will not face this type of racism, because they accept me. Too bad, Singapore will lose many talented people like me, if they don’t teach their own Chinese people how NOT to be racist to their OWN people (who are mixed). Another thing is, many Chinese women marry foreign men and have mixed race babies. So you’re saying you hate mixed people like me and still have mixed raced babies? Wow. The hypocrisy. Seriously, go travel more. And don’t be so f****G racist.
