  • The Holex Cable Knife (Kabelmesser) is a beautiful multitool knife. In the United States, it only seems to be available from Hoffman group.

Could this be a good Swiss army knife competitor? Well, I think for some people it might be. The beautiful wood scales are honestly just gorgeous, and the unusual tool set might be appealing to a variety of knife collectors. It doesn't have the fit and finish of a Victorinox, but it's beauty and interesting tool set makes it a very welcome part of my collection. The best part of this is that it is a very inexpensive knife at coming in less than $13 currently on Hoffmann Group USA.

It almost looks like the first swiss army knife, the 1891 produced modell 1890. But it lacks the bolster the first sak had.

@@thevineclimber Work took me a good ten times there as we have our main office close to the old city centre and I always try to get in an extra day or two to be a tourist. There's a ton of museums, from the "Germanisches Nationalmuseum", to the Nazi documentation centre/rally grounds, to the toy museum, etc (you need something light and uplifting after the former). However, Nurnberg is truly magical in December with all the Christmas markets and stuff.

It has a totally different feel. It's bigger than a 91 mm and it's a lot heavier and it definitely does not have the crispness of tool deployment that the Swiss army knives have. I miss those things and yet somehow I can't stop carrying this.

    Great knife & review.
That is a very hefty knife
The reamer reminds me of the rope spike on a riggers knife.
The wood scales & brass pins gives it a real classic look.

I have a similar model where the reamer is also polished smooth. It's quite good for knotting/splicing rope, because the corner of the edge has more grip on the rope than a round spike, but it is rounded enough so it won't cut or damage the rope.

Hi.After 25 years I misplaced my 84mm Tinker. Tried carrying me Adventuer from go bag but it was too big for pocket. So...by accident I discovered EDC world/rabbithole. Spent 3 weeks lost in this realm. Almost got a Super Tinker, Fieldmaster, or Huntsman but settled on a Roxon KS2e (heresy I know) May still get a Super Tinker as a backup. Having made a purchase I was on my way out when your "meh" video caught my eye . Really interesting. So interesting I watch all your content. Might have bought the Companion if the price was a bit more reasonable since I am a user and not a collector. Thanks for all the joy you bring to EDC world . Learning rabbit hole now.😊

Wow, this is such an interesting post. I think a lot of people get into what exactly they wanna buy. And then once they find it and buy it, they're done. And that's great, that's actually how my husband is. He's had the same multi tool for like. I don't know 20 years or something.
I have a Roxon KS2E and it's gonna get reviewed. Don't you think it looks like an ice cream sandwich? Hey, can I ask you a question since you are presumably carrying this quite a bit? Do you use the scissors a lot? Does the weirdness factor ever decrease with that? I think it's a really good tool. And I have to admit that I love rectangular things so it has that going for it as well.
I feel so complimented that you like the channel. Thank you so much!! 😀

Have had the Roxon for only a week but have used every tool at least once. Scissors ✂️ are excellent and not weird at all. The size and heft is good. My wife has borrowed them to cut individual hairs. Am carrying it in my pocket and have pouch in car with the bit kit. Don't feel it anymore. Dreamed last night that Victorinox made a new toll based on Spartan with the blades replaced by scissios and a 3D phillips and the can opener replaced by that new cutter on the Companion. Keep up the great site. Look forward to seeing your Roxon review. Smiles 😊
