Serene - Hi John & Crew- in a recent Variety article about the behind-the-scenes drama with Dwayne Johnson, the article also mentioned the possibility of Ezra staying on as “Given Miller has stayed out of trouble since beginning mental health treatment, some executives are amenable to continuing w/the actor as the world-saving speedster…” I’m glad Ezra is getting help but given the long established pattern of their troubling behavior, continuing with them as Flash doesn’t seem like a good idea. Will WB actually keep Ezra as Flash? Thanks!

John, people understand that the Ezra and Cavill situation is different. What everyone is saying is the optics for such a choice are absolutely horrible. ESPECIALLY because one of the reasons given was a clean slate. If they recast fan favorites and then keep the person who had a crime spree, people are going to notice.
The reason given wasn't a clean slate, that's just how people interpreted it - falsely. James Gunn and Cavill have both stated clearly that Cavill isn't there because they want a YOUNGER superman, not a new one. Ezra is young so if the reasoning is to do a young justice league, you don't have to remove Ezra for the same reason as Cavill. They 100% SHOULD remove Ezra for other reasons, but not a story one.
Yeah idk how he wasn’t understanding that. Being mad about keeping Ezra miller after getting rid of Henry Cavill who was great and behaved well is a valid point.

You said on the segment about DC getting a full reboot means they need to wipe the slate clean. And even said that Jason Mamoa would have to go as well because they can’t get rid of Henry but still keep Jason etc etc. So I say yeah, it’s absolutely a related conversation, if James is going to reboot DC entirely, then Ezra Miller is gone no matter what, even if the drama/crimes didn’t exist. I think it’s perfectly fair for people to say “how can they get rid of Henry and keep Ezra?” Because it’s true, that decision would make no sense whatsoever. But all of this is pointless because Ezra is 100% gone.

He's saying that Cavill wasn't hired (not fired) as they're switching directions for the new Superman movie. I mean, you could argue Cavill was fired since they had recently approved him but it was different people that did that so it's not equivalent. That's quite different than Ezra who is, and should be, FIRED for their criminal actions. If Ezra is kept, it breaks precedents for criminals in Hollywood. Cavill being let go is not setting any nasty precedents. It's annoying and disappointing but it's run-of-the-mill Hollywood "this is a Tuesday" stuff.
Two words for keeping Ezra and letting everyone else go if they do a full reboot. 'Flash Point' Flash going back in time, meeting younger versions of the Justice league members.

Here's the craziest part of all of this if true......Ezra actually attacked and threatened numerous people but Hartley Sawyer from the CW Flash was fired for jokes of poor taste that he posted on Twitter several years before he was ever on the show.
Unfortunately for Hartley, he was easily replaced. To Erin's point, Ezra can be pretty easily replaced too, but not as easily as Hartley.

The Henry Cavill situation is because James Gunn said he wants to reboot the universe, why recast Superman but keep the same Flash actor for the reboot. Doesn't make sense
They didn't ditch Cavill because they didn't like Cavill. They ditched him because they wanted to do young Superman. Ezra is young so could technically work as young Flash. Although I think that would be a terrible mistake.

Even if Ezra did nothing wrong, keeping him is not a clean reboot of DC universe. They are looking for different actors for Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and even Aquaman.. It wouldn't be fair just to keep the same actor for Flash. But the fact that all other actors never gave any problems to studio, nor to other people and the only one who actually did make problems and criminal acts towards other people,and they want to keep him, it's not only unfair, but it's actually very dangerous precedent.
Ironically the only thing crazier than Ezra, is the idea of keeping him as The Flash.

I think you forgot about how even Gunn didn't have to face real accountability for his past actions and disgusting tweets. Sure, he was called out and was fired by Marvel for a few months, only to get hired by DC and re-hired by Marvel. I wouldn't be surprised if he thought that giving Ezra Miller a second chance would maybe they will change.
Also, I hardly disagree with the opinion that complaining about Henry doesn't get to play Superman again and Ezra possibly keeping The Flash are two separate things; if they got rid of Henry because he didn't fit the version of Superman they wanted, sorry, then they need to do the same for all of the previous DC, otherwise it'd be that they got rid of Henry because Gunn has an ego just as big as The Rock's and he wanted to do a Superman project like he wanted and acted like a brat instead of doing a script that could've included Henry -and that's absolutely possible because they're older versions of Superman in comics. Either they do a harsh reboot and get rid of all of the current actors, or it's just picking what they want, which makes them assh*les and not up to the task of creating a world for fans.
Not only is it unethical AND bad business to keep Ezra around as Flash (or any character for that matter), it’s also bad for the character. They’re probably the worst Flash I’ve seen put to live action. For as great of a casting decision as Ben Affleck for Batman was, Ezra Miller is equally as BAD of a casting decision for Barry Allen. The run, the look of the character, the characterization itself was sooo bad, dude.
They're putting out he might stay on to protect the upcoming movie as saying he's gone might put people off seeing it. As soon as that's out and made its money he's gone I guarantee it.
I honestly do not know what James Gunn is gonna do. But if I was him or peter Safran I wouldn't want to associate myself with him it would bring them bad luck moving forward. John and his Ezra rants. I hope Ezra is held accountable by the law, but I could care less if Ezra gets acting roles with WB or anyone for that matter. For me, that issue is between him and his employer after the law has been applied. Ezra is not even on the bottom of my priorities in life. If Gunn and Safran plan on doing a full reboot, then there's no point in having this conversation because they will get recast. However, assuming that they will not reboot, I think it would be a mistake to keep Miller from a business standpoint. Because if they are a big reason as to why it’s great, people that are the majority will start to pay more attention to anything related what that they think is good and if anything significant regarding the court battle Miller is having now comes up and it makes them look worse, that could damage any future projects that WBD would have planned for them to be in. I also think we need to take this with a big grain of salt because unless the executives that they are talking about are Gunn, Safran, and Zaslav, it doesn't matter if other executives would consider them to come back because they would not have any say in the discussion no matter what. I'd also point out that while Variety is definitely a credible source for entertainment news, they did get it wrong when they reported that they heard from sources that they were considering moving Robert Pattinson’s Batman into the universe, which James debunk
