- I observe Samana Santa, Holy Week in Colombia. The cultural differences and the traditions are surprisingly shocking nonetheless interesting to learn about. In this video, I am shocked to see what seems to be a klansman carrying a statue of Christ aka La Pasión de Cristo on Good Friday later to find out this is not the case.
The Roman Catholic church has been using this costume for many centuries way before the Ku Klux Klan where formed. The covering of the face and color signifies the morning of Christ. Aquí en medellín o como en españa es común ver las Cofradias
Estas personas usan su traje (tunica) y su capirote que es el gorro en punta con el cual solo se pueden ver los ojos
el color varia
pueden estár de luto o alegres
No se mucho de historia pero según un documental en españa estas tunicas con capirote vienen desde los años 1600
eran para los penitentes en las procesiones
luego las cofradias adoptaron este atuendo en los años 1700
y pues esto fue antes del kkk
Estás tunicas son de tradición religiosa lastimosamente usadas por el kkk
Mas no es que los colombianos queramos recordar el kkk o algo así
Sino que esta prenda en la religiosidad popular representa la penitencia

The inquisition
The hoods have their origin in the Middle Ages, the hand of the church in its great crusade to evangelize territories with the blade and the cross. The church has always been behind the greatest barbarities of humanity, always with the idea of maintaining social order. Antioquia is an ultra conservative region, that's why Holy Week is celebrated with such religious fervor.

Depende de las parroquias de medellín o antioquia
En general hay parroquias donde solo los fieles cargan solo una imagen y tambien están las parroquias donde funcionan las cofradias cargueros o cirineos y estos pueden tener sus pasos o gran variedad de escenas que se representen en ese día
no en todas las parroquias se hace una procesión similar a popayan o españa
Esas tradiciones solo están enalgunas (no en todas) las parroquias mas populares de medellín
Aquí tambien hay parroquias con mucho que envidiar la verdad
No es necesario copiar las costumbres de cada lugar
Lo bonito de rodo es que hay variedad
