A video i teased on the community page and a video i have been wanting to make, dedicated to the Class 37 the workhorse of the railway. 37s such as 37/0s, 37/1s, 37/2s, 37/4s, 37/7s, 37/8s & 97s are all included in this video! From the Greater Anglia Short Set to test trains, stadler rescues & light engine workings, i've compiled clips featuring the 37 giving it the beans! Filmed from various locations from Anglia and other places.

The Class 37 is honestly like the Merlin Spitfire of the train world!
I am more about planes than trains, but hearing the class 37 engine in another video, I fell down a CZcams rabbit hole of trains!
Funnily enough, before I read your comment, I said pretty much the same thing!!
What a workhorse the 37s turned out to be,all these years and still pulling their weight, incredible.
The finest mixed traffic loco BR ever owned, testament to their solid build, some are still in service over 60 years later, wonderful loco's ❤🚜🔥🫡
Totally agree with you@@norburycrossing3426
It’s absolutely mad that they’ve been in service for 63 years now and are showing no signs of stopping
Wow they are really robust and durable, arent they?
37s are quite spectacular sounding locos it has to be said
The initial low "gurgle" sound to full takeoff is b****y wonderful. Thanks
@@spuds4t its curious that at idle they sound more like an old aero radial engine, then roar at full chap like the massive diesels they are. Simply brutal sounds from those locos.
Best looking too
They sound like tractors
@@umbreon0017 there's a good reason why their nickname is "Tractors"
Nice that the drivers give you a lil Hello toot😊
I could listen to that sound all day
The 12CSVT is one of the most iconic exhaust notes this country, in rail terms, has ever produced.
A fantastical din, never to be replicated.
in all terms actually
I used to live near Paddock Wood & they used to go through all the time! You recognise that rumble a mile away 👍
I totally agree
Got to disagree, it's a fantastic noise but not the melody of a Valenta.
My childhood was a few streets away from Crewe Station and listened to these monsters in the distance while lying in bed many a night . The HS125 sounds pretty awesome as well with the turbo sounds .
What is it about that sound that is so addictive? I remember hearing this while at school, as the railway line was quite close. I never knew what it was until now!
I’m so used to the big blaring horns of American diesels, so hearing the sound of these Class 37 locos is oddly refreshing.
It's altogether more gentlemanly and civilised isn't it? lol yeah we try to keep the noise to a minimum mostly, the horns are only as loud as they need to be, and are usually only sounded when it is absolutely required by law.
@goose300183 its quite loud when you're right next to it 😂
@paytonburrows2325 if that’s the case listen to our lovely steam engines!
Love how they all give you a toot on the horn as they go past. 😂 I love the purring and growling sounds from this loco. A real treat seeing your fab video. Thanks for sharing.
The lights coming on at 08:00 remind me of the draw distance in Train Sim World 2.
True workhorses that are still used for heavy night haulage of raw materials
Ah, the sound of my childhood, my faves were 37s and Deltics. Something Visceral and Epic about that sound. It's akin to hearing a Spitfire flying low overhead going full bore!!! It's just so, British!! 💚
This loco has a grunting, growling sound to it that is very unique. The power is undeniable. What a cool locomotive.
I loved these 37s when i was a secondman at Stratford East London, two of these locos double heading a fully loaded freightliner up Brentwood bank the power just superb.
Used to drive the 37s everyday when I was a fireman with BR out of eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow from triple headers with with coal out of Ayrshire or Glasgow queen st to Oban on the west highland line the 37s were a great workhorse for BR 1974
Amazing machines. Love the powerful tractor sound of the Class 37!
I have loved the sound of these locos since I was a kid. I was fortunate enough to become a train driver and drove them.
Lucky devil
These trains are quite simply the best & that engine is unparalleled 🙌👏🇬🇧
That lovely lovely sound. You just have to close your eyes and you are back in time. Perfect.
Ah ha ha! How good is it to hear a 37 snorting and grunting. Oh joy of the West Highland Line of my youth.
When I was about 6 I was taken to New St station, I think to see someone off. The train about to leave from the platform I was on was being pulled by what was then a new diesel locomotive. Of course it was a class 37 - THE diesel loco... I was close to it when it suddenly opened it's throttle and roared. I jumped out of my skin, I'd never heard anything like it, the sound went right through me, it was such a thrill. What a sound, same sort of sensation as the best rock band ever... still can't get enough of it even now. Cheers for the upload, amazing sounds...
The class 37's a surely the most beastly, snarling machines ever entered into service in the UK.
The class 37 just has that AWESOME!!!! sound from its HUGE POWERFUL engine I simply ♥️❤️ IT
Surely the best sounding train ever
Love the night shots.
Just love the sound of these locos
Brilliant footage.... What a workhorse. Keep up the great work....
Great compilation. I love the tunes some (one?) of those drivers plays on the cab horn.
Epic and musical Tractorism!
Nice compilation, Richard - thanks for sharing it! 👍🏻
What could be better than a 37! Great vid mate
Class 55?
Two 37s!
@@James_Lion that’s pretty much what I said lol
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos True, lol

The Class 37 is a Locomotive that should NEVER, EVER BE REPLACED!!!!
At night the sound and the headlights in the distance make it so ominous.
The Torque of these 37's is unreal..not a huge horsepower figure at 1750hp - but Torque - to the end of the world and back
''...you're booked to work a 37 today driver.....''
Driver: ''...showboating time... 🙂 ''...
Well done. Thanks for sharing this. I love the thrash and thrum of the class 37's.
The 37 is one of the most successful diesel locos ever made ! It was something to see when these used to operate triple headers on the ore trains long before the 59s and 66s became the staple diet ?
I used to drive triple headers with coal wagons out of Ayrshire when I was a fireman out of eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974 onwards much preferred the passenger trains hauled by a 37 from queen st Glasgow to Oban on the west highland line
They are amazing trains. They sound like a plane taking of. Enjoyed this video alot
One of the best diesel locos for thrash and clag, great video!
I FUCKIN LOVE CLAG ! !!
Absolutely fantastic video! By far one of the best diesel locos ever!
agree
A lot of the 37's were on the short set, before we got the cold soul less 755's on the Lowestoft-Norwich run. Originally the short set was topped and tailed by 68's and boy did they make a racket 😊
I've watched this many times now
Fantastic video with some fantastic clips!! Great watch, thankyou for uploading this!!!
I love a dirty diesel
Bloomin fabulous, thanks for sharing 😊
Great video you put together with lots going on.Thanks for sharing .
Just throttle the train and don't worry about wheelslipping
Don't worry about sanders either
@@randomdude9269 Sanders are for noobs
I was going to say the acceleration was amazing but it's 2 engines and 2 carriages lol
Class 37 is mesmerising, never had the pleasure on travelling on one.
Maybe a heritage line will give that experience one day
Am I the only who finds these class 37s intimidating af😂
They are a beast
Linda máquina e um som absolutamente espetacular, lindas paisagens filmadas e pra mim aos 20:32 é a vista mais bonita de todo o vídeo, vale a pena assistir até o final, parabéns ao autor!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Truly Fantastic!
You can actually hear the sound when they aren't sitting on the horn the entire time with a bloody bell going constantly as well. :D
American ?
@@animaltvi9515 They do so love their horn! :)
@@ThroneOfBhaal don't they just. Carnt watch videos of their trains . As you say if its not that it's the bloody bell.
Very good video mate. Well done
Amazing video
Superb!
Superb video 👍
Awsome😊😊
Lovely thrash
Brilliant video
3:49 If there was no video with this clip, I would probably think that it was an ALCO RS3 or any other ALCO unit with a 244. It sounds so similar here.
The Class 37 is the greatest diesel locomotive EVER
Class 55 is close 😀
I do love the 37
awesome sound
Man these can accelerate
my fave loco ever the 37
Excelent sound
My Lords !
Perfect
WERE THE CLASS 37 WHEN PAST ON ITS OWN THAT WAS BRIDEGO BRIDGE WERE THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY TOOK PLACE IN 1963
At the moment, I'm desperate to see a 37 for some reason (after months of failed attempts to catch a kettle) so this has delighted my cravings!
This video is clagtastic!
I see these most days living on back of the Toton line
Just excellent.
5:17 The bridge where the great train robbery took place?
I was thinking the same thing.
Blimey these take me back to my youth!!
The thrash of these that used to go under us as we sat on a flimsy footbridge.
Do these beauties still do the Norwich to Great Yarmouth run?
nope, that discontinued in 2019
Beautiful - Excited that possible future labour Gov renationalise and reform British Rail - lets get the 37's running Smokey Diesels from Preston to Rochester.
5.33 THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY bridge near cheddington well spotted me
1:22 I got to travel in those carriages during a university field trip.
These used to pull freight from the burnaze site when I worked there. Gutted when they swapped them for 56's
How much power does a 37 make? They sound real powerful
Sorry im a newb in some respects...the all yellow livery of the engine units and carriages are they anything in particular?
The locos when thrashing almost sound like trucks thrashing too
Did I see the Train Robbers' bridge?
It sounds like a Harley Davidson!
7:51 - Imperial March!
2:16 - to/from Worksop, is it not?
What are 'tones'? Is this the horn sound?
Sounds like an American ALCo locomotive!
I love the following classes:
Class 55 "Deltic"
Class 37
Class 40
Class 67
Class 20
Class 325
Class 35
CLass 82 "DVT"
Class 91 "DVT"
Class 43 "HST"
Class 33
Class 31
Or just any English Electric locomotive
not called a class 82
@@ttvvideos2050 Huh?
@@MrBlueRBLX It's called a DVT, not an 82 as its not part of the TOPS classification as it has no engine
@@ttvvideos2050 Ok but Idk why you are making such a fuss about it. I am not exactly a BR Expert, I am more focused to Sydney Trains And Pacific National
@@MrBlueRBLX I'm just telling you, geez
Wait, is no-one going to mention the burning meteor at 13:33?
Anyway, I grew up falling to sleep to the sound of these and other locos around Derby in the 60s and 70s.
That's not a meteor unfortunately, as cool as that would be. It's just the rear lights of the stadler reflecting off the overhead lines.
@@ThePiGuy24 D'oh! I can see it now. Ta.
In the mid 70's when very young I visited the loco works in Derby and walked through a 37 most likely when running. Deafening experience, but recalled 45 years later.
The closest thing in America that has a similar sort of sound would be the Macintosh and Seymour design turbocharged 539 engine used by Alco
Genuine question - how does the driver of the rear tractor know how fast to push the 37?
There is no driver in the rear loco.
Both are controlled by one driver in the front cab
@@dieselfahrenderpflaumenkuc352 thanks, much appreciated.
sounded like ydm4
Anyone else notice the Star Wars bit at 7:50?
Thort they had more oomph than that 2 of them to haul 2 coaches. . Must be really heavy coaches. But still.. means twice the noise.
Where is the best place to see 37s on the WCML?
Carlisle maybe? Chances to catch DRS and WCR 37s potentially.
Carlisle
Crewe‘s a good place
*7:11** WAIT THATS ILLEGAL*
How do you know when a 37 comes
Probably realtime trains
@@alisonrawlings6679 Or by luck
@@RichardChalklin yeah good point. When I went trainspotting I just go to the platform and hope something good comes lol.
Facebook groups are usually good for gen. look for freight moves that might be PLPR or UTU trains as well; ie they go all over the network.
5:30 were you tempted to stop a mail train and rob it? . . . .
