  • This video shows a day of trains at Carlisle station, first we have 2 TPE class 68s, one on an engineering train and one on a RHTT! Next there is another RHTT with 68006 & 68018 we then have some class 66s. Later on there is 2 class 37s, 37685 left Aberdeen alone, it then picked up 37518 along the way at Perth, then we see both the 37s couple up to 47813, the 47 is then started along with 37518! We then see them depart Carlisle station.

    I don't know why, but 68s on RHTT always looks like punishment duty.
    "If you break down on Shap, you've gotta do a month on the dirty tankers"
    No problem for the 37s, of course. Typical old 'uns, they'd be constantly going on about how it's a doddle compared to Welsh coals on unfitted wagons back in the sixties.

    The engines grumbled that night in their shed. ''I've had my beautiful front cut open and cables stuck on it'' complained Lady Penelope. ''I have to haul trucks full of logs'' moaned 70811. ''We're express engines'' asserted Resolution and Hornet ''And they make us pull half a dozen trucks around and we haven't been washed in weeks''. The engines decided they'd have to have a disposition and speak to the dietary challenged Controller.

    I know TPE are short of drivers and units but have they reverted to the old fashioned way of carrying passengers in open wagons? (68031)

    • @TRAlNVlDEOS
      @TRAlNVlDEOS  Před 7 měsíci +1

      😂Not quite, TPE are going to be stopping using the class 68s in December, when they do stop they are going to be returned to DRS (who own them but just leased them to TPE). However a few of them (4 I think) have already been returned to DRS including 68022 & 68031 in this video! Thanks for the comment!!

      They have been doing RHTT duties, (These trains are used to clean leaves off the line) the reason they are so dirty is mainly because they spray water at high speed on line to remove the leaves but a side effect of that is that the locos get coated in dirt! Thanks for the comment!!

      The TPE livery is just a vinyl, underneath is a base coat of blue I assume they will pull off the vinyl and maybe add drs logo over the base coat blue, just like they did with 68007 when it left Scotrail! Thanks for the comment.

    • @TRAlNVlDEOS
      @TRAlNVlDEOS  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes I love 37s too!! 37685 & 47813 went up from Carnforth to Carlisle earlier in the week for route proving (checking the route is clear) during Storm Babet, 37518 was doing the same in Scotland. 37685 then continued into Scotland and up to Aberdeen! This video is taken a few days after storm Babet had passed and they are hauling the 47 because they are all heading back to the depot where they are based at Carnforth! Sorry for the long response but I hope this helps! Thanks for the comment!!

    Always puzzles me why RHT locos are always dirty. I get the fact the line is being sprayed & any rubbish on the line may fly up into space but yeah - why?

    • @TRAlNVlDEOS
      @TRAlNVlDEOS  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think you are pretty music right as far as I can find out, I think they get dirty because the water is sprayed onto the line at high pressure and then the water gets dirt in it which then splashes back up onto the loco, that’s what I can find out / think! Thanks for the comment.

      They stop other trains slipping on leaf debris, the locomotives are used all year round on other duties for example intermodal trains or nuclear flask transportation! They are not just used for RHTT. Thanks for the comment.
