Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Then, he completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. How long did it take you?
I was 130 when I moved to US. I got 40 pound (mostly sugar) in 20 month and became 170. Now in 1.5month I just lost 13 pound
I quit sugar and after a week I stopped having to go to the bathroom 3 times a night. I could actually get through the whole night without peeing.
Because your blood glucose got better.

I am a recovered alcoholic of 39 years.... as a child I was addicted to sugar.... most alcoholics are..... as the addiction to alcohol increases .. the craving for sugar decreases.. When the alcoholic totally abstains from alcohol the cravings for sugar goes through the roof... In my own case when I started cutting back on sugar and carbs I experienced severe depression,, anxiety,,, panic attacks... ect..... I did not know then that they were addicting for the alcoholic.... now I understand.... I submit to your viewers that a mindful gradual decrease in all forms of sugar and cheap carbs is the ticket to a lifetime of health, and of mental and emotional stability...... just my story
Dr Ahmet bey, I have started no sugar almost zero carbs in October 16,2021 with 350+ levels of sugar in my blood test. Last night it was 157 without using any medicine. I had no side affects, I am able to sleep less feel great. Age 57 and excirse lightly. Saygilar Regards

It's impossible to eat 0 sugar for a week. Almost every food has sugar or sugar alternatives in it. Not possible.

I have been able to significantly reduce sugar consumption. I have not eliminated it completely as of yet, but now I control how much and how frequently i consume rather than it controlling me
Runner athletic throughout life, big sugar eater,โฆ. Heart attack at 60, quadruple bypass... Small diet changeโฆ Now 66. Been on statin for six yearsโฆ. Six months ago diagnosed as Pre diabetic A1c5.8 three months later with months later more small diet changesโฆ. A1c 6.0. So now proteins and vegetables with minimum carbs. Educated myself more.
Going for the best outcome I can have.
Cardiologist wants me on statins โฆ wonโt recommend a switch or anything else but. I have cut the statin dose in half on my own and as per a study done with chondroitin sulfateโฆ taking 600 mg per day to help keep cholesterols in check.
I look back and I recognize symptoms I told my doctors but they werenโt diagnosing me correctly as a worsening pre diabetic situation was developingโฆI just wasnโt in the range for them to get concerned.
Hoping the description of my situation will help othersโฆ. You know your own body and how you fell better than a doctor who doesnโt have the time to dig into your specific case fully.
Be proactiveโฆ. Learnโฆ. Take action on your own if you need to.
I had gastic by pass, loss 125 lbs. and my diabetes went into remission. I got off soda, sugar etc etc...Made it 8 years with no problems. But life took a turn for the worse. My daugther was diagnosed with synoil sarcoma, and my mother fell and broke her neck, (and died later from it), and sitting in hosptibals, etc etc..my eating habits and lack of exercise took it toll. I gained all but 30 lbs of my weight back, my diabetes is back, and I feel crappy. I went off sugar again made it three months before I fell off the wagon. It is hard. I am sitting here with a bag of skittles in front of me right now (my breakfast). I got back on sugar again and used my dying mother in law for my excuse. But when off sugar, I feel so much better, have so much more energy, life is good, I want that back again. So after watching you this bag of skittles is going in the trash and I am going to start again going sugar free from my life (hopefully food prices will come down soon)......but I love your program here. It inspired to do better with my life, because I want to live to be an old spry woman.
I was diagnosed type 2 diabetes, a few weeks ago. Have gradually cut down sugary drinks and alcohol to very little. Almost stopped cakes and sweets. Seeing a dietician tomorrow. I am going to try and reverse it after years of been in denial with pre-diabetes. I feel more energetic already and feel lucky to how found you on CZcams with fantastic advice. I am very motivated as I feel much more vitality so soon after making some gradual changes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge to help us.

You are realistic about keto and carnivore diets - very difficult to sustain, although there are several medical professionals who support them. I guess weโll have a clearer picture of how good these diets are in terms of longevity in the next 50 years. I find you spot on about the benefits of quitting sugar; for me I was able to stop medication for severe gout and asthma. Hopefully, people follow your good advice. Thanks for your posts.

Well the only 3 things that can make these diets difficult is carb cravings, well possibly the lack of variety and holidays, travelling it's difficult to find keto or carnivore foods there so yeah. But other than that it's not too hard since fats and protein satisfy you the most (wich can make a calorie restriction easier and perhaps natural).

I feel so grateful to you Dr., yet incredibly overwhelmed! With confusion and gratitude at the same time. I feel like my diabetes is out of control yet I don't consume any white sugar, or most white poison. My neuropathy is at an all time high, but I don't know my sugar levels because I can't afford the strips.

How are you doing now? It's creepy with the looming leg loss. I want to scream, friend, you don't deserve this!!! Hope you can prevent that by thinking that if you'd have those strips to measure the sugar levels, your levels would be sky high and alarming. Start from that, and do save yourself.
You need no strips, you need a new take on life, don't you?
No wonder you feel overwhelm. Now it is 5 months to Christmas, so tell all whom it might concern, that you will not take part in any old traditions, you'll concentrate on saving your legs!
I think you actually know what you could do, you need a megaphone for your self-preserving instinct, so you need to give yourself permission to do what you know is good for you, yourself, even if the whole world around you would keep up its addictions, just don't let them force-feed you.

I quit sugar completely also all sweeteners, I have no problems with it. After a while I could not stand anything sweet any longer. Everything tastes much better now.

Along with your advice and my doctor's, and the freestyle Liibre 14 day system, my average glucose levels in the past 4 weeks have been between 102 and 110. Thanksgiving is coming soon but I plan on moving forward with my plan and hopefully, I can be a good boy with all of that food. Your help has been invaluable to me and very informative. You don't know how much you have helped me get back to normal for a type II diabetic.

I did a 40 day Daniel fastโฆ i did it because I want get closer to Jesus and have a deep connection and spiritual relationships with him. I only eat fruit, vegetables and chickpeas. I did not consume sugar, pasta , rice, meat and . No sodaโฆ . My body not with through any withdraw !!! My body didnโt fight against me it was subject under God. I am on day 16 โฆ iโve lost 15 Lbs! I weight 183 now I am now 167. My goal 145-150. Only Jesus helped me through this fast โฆ I couldnโt do it on my own!

Im 58 years old and been on a constant suger high all my life a couple of years ago i went on keto anxiety went through the roof and would not leave me alone so gave up after 3 months ,,this time im a month in i have given up cakes sweets all the candy bars ect but sill eating carbs im feelling much better and lost 10lbs so far not as fast as keto but much easier

the one thing that saved me was i quit sugary drinks years ago ! but didnt realise that fruits contain high amounts of fructose and my carb intake was thru the roof ! until i started keto about 11 months ago ! it was rough ! the body transitions from using sugar for fuel to using fat for fuel ! everything just keeps getting better from there !

I wish I knew this 3 months ago when my A1C came up as 6.7 I stopped sugar cold turkey and went low carb. I experienced withdrawal symptoms, not pleasant at all. It took about 2 weeks before my body went back to normal. Doctor later told me I should have reduced sugar and carbs slowly to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. Results so far....A1C went down to 5.8 and lost 15lbs.
Keep up the good work, only eat healthy carbs if youโre going to have carbs again

Only 6.2? Had routine blood work for a surgery and it came back higher than the charts go. Started a 20 or less carb daily. After a short time, went down to 5.8. It's hard to do, but keep up the good work.
I only watched two of his vids (the other one being the 12 diabetic skin problems) and I hate him so much now. I ate cereal before going to bed and of course he went on and explained why that's not good. Then he went on and mentioned all these things that happens to you if you have too much sugar in your system like trouble sleeping... which is happening to me now... Sigh. I just bought a glucometer online fearing the worst. I'm not gonna self diagnose. I'm still gonna ask the doc to do that for me, but I wanna at least see how bad it is first hand at the beginning before dragging myself to the clinic and face reality.

Keto for 3 years . I did lose some weight but it was not a sustainable diet for me. I am not overweight but did it for my health . Now I eat some sugar and use mostly stevia for coffee or tea. I think vegetables and fruit are the best food for you

Intermittent fasting or delayed eating 16 hours after you last finished eating, mostly while you are sleeping. If you finish eating 7pn, you can start eating 11am, you have 8 hour window in which you can eat. Lots of health benefits from fasting. Drink fluids steadily throughout the day. I have one vegetable stock cube in big mug of hit water in the morning to make sure I am getting at least 5 grams of salt while fasting.
@@KBQuick81 Try fasting easier to do. If you do 16 hours a day, you get lots of benefits, make sure you drink lots of fluids, water, 1 vegetable stock cube, black coffee, black tea, herbal tea. Then eat in 8 hour window. Fasting lowers blood pressure/ cholesterol. Lowers IGF1 insulin growthlike factor 1, adults don't need this, children do. Increases HGH human growth hormone, good. Lowers weight. Creates new neurons in the brain, great. ๐

Most professionals say keto is a cutting diet to get down to a desired weight the trick is to slowly introduce good carbs eg salads veges etc to maintaine desired weight

Sugar goes high without sugar, go for a walk and watch sugar go down then back up because it will get glycogen from fat. Eventually it stays down but not if you consume carbs. Fasting is the quickest way to get to glycogen usage. Expect diahree ร and make sure to consume potassium and magnesium.
