I love the difference between this fight and the very next one. These guys kept kicking John while he was down and would never allow him time to get up. As a result John played dirty and killed them both with tactics he didn't use at Al with the next duo. The next fight his opponents had honor for him, they let him stand when he fell so as not to cheapen the fight. They respected him and so he did so in turn. John Wick is nothing if not sentimental, and it further shows the difference between him and Zero. As Zero said, he wouldn't have stopped... John would. He's just a better man.

I just read about it and find it super fascinating. With films becoming longer here in "the west", probably to rival tv shows, I think intervals intervals should be brought back. Would make the cinema experience even greater in some cases.

It's because he will use the weapons against them.
My thought about this is. When you use a weapon the Hero's focus will be on the weapon avoiding it and such. But when you use hand to hand your not going to see where the hit is coming from, is it a kick or punch. Anyway thats how I explain it to my self.

Has nobody noticed the smashing through glass single shot scene? This is how you film action scenes. Not many cuts, no shaky cam, great choreography.

I think it's going like this: When you have Asian martial art choreographers working in your movie, you dont destroy their work with shaky cam and fast cuts. You film the scene like Asian directors do. Which is like exactly as in 'John Wick' or 'The Matrix' action scenes were, for example. Or like Old Boy, etc.

What i loved about fighting scenes of john wick in general are: 1. You clearly see the fights. 2. Not shaky camera. 3. No special effects. 4. Best of all they dont make the hero seems untouchable when it comes to fighting, he actually takes a beating unlike other martial arts that beats an army without a scratch. Lol.
What I don't like about the fighting scenes of John Wick: you can see badly choreographed bits very clearly.

The enemies don't get weaker when they have weapons, John Wick just becomes way more alert and focused if he could actually die in a fight
There are 4 assassins in this scene. The first two were the ones that kicked John in the glass. The other two were the one with swords. Watch this scene again and you can see it’s different people

The endurance he has. Like all these guys he kills are pretty well trained, well rested, and half his age and yet he takes all their blows.

I like how they easily hit John Wick in the head again and again, but the instant they get the katana out they're completely unable to hit him.
I mean if you know how to dodge a sword ur not really going to be hit. But it’s kinda impossible not to get hit in hand to hand combat especially against fast opponents. He would have been killed by a sword if glass hadn’t been there to slow it down anyway.

I keep leaving comments on these videos. But even though they do pausing, what I do love about these fights is that John will always go for the gun if it’s in sight. This shows that he doesn’t care to hand to hand and be all fancy. He’ll do whatever it takes to finish the fight as fast as possible.

I love how thought out johns fighting is. If you notice, he either tries to avoid the blade or isolate the hand holding the (maybe wazakashi?) Not only that but his use of weak points is incredible
This blade is a wakizashi. A katana would be too long to fit underneath the guy's jacket and also heavier. I personally prefer a wakizashi over a katana.

It makes sense. John Wick has a fighting style that seems pragmatical and simple. Spinning kicks are too impractical for such a style, because they are more complex to perform and they expose the back of those who perform them to attack.
I love that somehow the ninjas are able to hide from john even in a glass room. There's lots of instances of characters hiding in plain sight in this movie.
