I came to my little street in Sydney. Nobody talked to each other or even knew their Neibour. As I am country girl, I could see they all needed to be shown how to be a community by example. I started to take my neighbours bins in if they were away at work, mow their front lawn, drop in a homemade pie or sourdough bread on a Friday. Now this little pocket of people on the street now know each other and they now do this too now. You don’t need to spend any money as an act of caring, builds a nice community. Most people are good people they just need an elder to show them what to do.

I am inner city Sydney. Here we do tend to know our neighbours they some prefer to stay quiet and some like to fight with each other. That has always been the case going back to my grandparents day. Over the last four or more years something has been going on that nobody knows about as it’s so underground. There has always been little art groups around who hire a life model but now there are so many groups both public and private. And people are attending in ever increasing numbers. I feel it’s people who are looking for meaning and also trying to find their humanity who are coming out to these gigs and communities are forming. Many of these people too are serious artists who have been rejected by the art establishment. I suspect that other groups are forming for other areas of the arts such as writing and dance etc.
without realising it people are building another world away firn the elites agenda.

To be honest I‘m at a point where I‘m not only concerned but actually scared. It is like living in a mass psychosis, we saw this tendency during corona and it now transcended to every other topic - climate crisis, Russia - Ukraine and basic common sense. I agree of course that our leaders are partly incompetent but it’s more than that - there is a Deep routed irrationality, ideology resulting from deconstructivism - completely losing any mental stability. Those opposing these developments are fundamentally suppressed in mainstream media, however coming to the front via alternative and social media. Many of us live in two realities and to be honest it’s getting more and more draining. Thank you Ralph for being the voice of reason in Austria. Hope to see you in person one time at a public lecture.

What Ralph says is so true! An excellent discussion touching on so many important parts of our modern problem of the multiculturalism and diversity debacle.
I often feel like I left the room for ten minutes and someone replaced all the people with fakes who now suddenly think and do everything differently than before I left the room!

Agree. Humans likely have an inborn bias towards familiarity and origin. You might be able to force isolated individuals to take those biases to them as seen in adopted but very unlikely with groups of people who are very unfamiliar to us and we to them. They will antagonize against the rest.

People get involved in running for political office because they have a particular agenda. We then have people in office with knowledge of that agenda only and little or no knowledge of much else. They are also the sort of people who are very pushy, with strong personalities and often little understanding of other views. We then have politicians with weird positions brought to the surface and visible to us all.

This gets to the core of the problem. Lack of imagination, lack,of open mindedness, lack of ability to empathise with the different perspectives of others. A new realism is needed that accepts that different ideas exist even when we disagree and allow it to sink in. If I imagine I am from a poor country and want a better life I am told ‘you cannot say that’, we must not think badly of these people! I say, we are all selfish but am told I must not think this. Imagination is now ideologically constrained.

I disagree...it is not a good idea to "compromise" your values and ethics to appease others & their beliefs.
In fact I think this is a great part of the societal illness that abounds today.
