- The AT-AP is a funky looking three-legged walker from Star Wars! LEGO has released three different versions of the AT-AP to date, starting in 2008 with set 7671, seeing a massive upgrade in 2014 with set 75043, and most recently the 2019 model, set 75234 which makes small improvements on an already solid design. The Minifigures have also improved over the years as LEGO has widened the selection and increased the detail on their Clone Troopers!

It was my first real set too. I remember sitting at the kitchen table building it with my dad, it holds a lot of nostalgia seeing it again.
Galactic Brix mine was the thunder driller from LEGO power miners.
I remember deciding between the 2008 at ap and ashokas jedi star fighter in toysrus with my dad, we came home with the at ap and built for ages until it was time for bed and had to go to school the next day, when I got home my dad and I played with the set amongst my lego city sets.

The cannon on the ATAP from 2014 does go up and down, you had the clip in when trying to move it

I like how you gave the 2019 the win in your opinion because of the minifigures, but it didn't win in the minifigures category. Very consistent rating
Also forgot major parts of the sets playability. Like how he couldnt figure out how to move the cannon. Or when he said the 2019 model loses out on playability just beceause not all panels open up....

I just realized something. The 2014 AT-AP was released SIX years after the 2008 AT-AP, and the 2019 AT-AP was released FIVE years before the 2014 AT-AP. That means the next version of the AT-AP would release in 2023. I believe this would also go for the Droid Gunship and Clone Turbo Tank.
Do you think we will get a new one? I’d really like a mix between 2014 and 19 because they’re both almost perfect but I don’t wanna but an old set I’m also hoping if they do they don’t shrink the size of it

koot 10 bucks for a single 501st trooper in mint condition is a lot for most folks. Even rich people don’t want to buy 50 trooper for 500 Bucks.
Not enough between them is there. They are so similar, especially the two most recent versions. We didn't need a new one the 2014 version was fine.

The main canon on the 2014 model does move up and down, you just have to untab it from the clip piece.

I like the 2019 one because of the minifigs other than that the 2014 and 2019 are too similar and the 2008 one was good for it's time but now is obviously outdated
I think you also forgot to mention that Shock Troopers were specifically stationed on Coruscant only so as cool as it was to have those back then, it didn't make a whole lot of sense. I have to say 2019 definitely was my favourite and I loved the inclusion of the Scout Trooper! Such a beautiful figure in my opinion

Small mistake with your playability scoring at 7:33. Both the 2014 and 2019 sets main gun can elevate up and down. The clip that locks the rotating turret on top will lock the main gun from elevating as well. If you look closely at 7:30 you will see the main gun move when’s he unclips the turret.

2014 is the best, the 2019 made some unnecessary changes without changing the look too much, the feet are nice, but you can get the 2014 one cheaper than the 2019 version.

@@azacct9854 debatable, it is nice to have an extra clone, but Chewbacca was coming in so many sets at that time that Chief Tarfful (probably spelled that wrong) was a nice addition
@@kronosaur417 I mostly think 2019 had the best mini figs because of that extra clone and those sleek looking Kashyyyk battle droids. Also you gotta realise in the 2014 set you get 1 clone which fills up only 1/3 of the at-dp. What’s more annoying is that they decide to throw in 3 droids but for some reason not a couple of more clones in a clone set
@@kronosaur417 I also forgot to mention that even though the remake didn’t bring a whole lot more and wasn’t really needed, it did give an opportunity to buy an at-dp for a cheaper price (the 2014 version is discontinued therefore harder and more expensive to get)aswell as new parts which aren’t 4 years old.

I bought the swamp speeder or something like that back in the day with 2 "camo biker scout" type and camo Phase 2 troopers, along with the Celebration ATRT so with the 2019 I have a pretty nice Kaashyk setup now.
After watching a lot of these videos to bring in some nostalgic feels, I gotta admit I really hate those stud firing stuff. It just always was cooler in my head to just image this big epic lasers and what not instead of these things that actually fired a shot that was annoying to reload and you lost the pieces constantly

If you look up images of the actual in-universe walker, the 2019 one is the most accurate, as the "head" of the walker is supposed to be forward of the uppermost joint of the back legs, which it is - whereas in the earlier two versions the "head" was simply above BUT NOT in front of the back legs.

I bought the 2014 version in November of last year. I did not know that they were going to remake it in 2019 at the time. With tax it cost $58.00. If I would have known at the time I probably would have waited simply because of the green scout trooper mini figure. This was a fun build and I am happy with it.

I personally think the 2014 is superior to the other 2 At-Ap’s.
The large cannon on top will move up and down if you unhook the clip at the back. You can also see the black pins that make up the hinges on the bottom front of it.
I think the 2014 version with the extra space and side accessibility give a slight edge over the 2019 even though it might make it more stable
There is something about the pose of the 2019 model I dislike. It looks as if it's going to fall forward when the 3rd leg is folded
I thought they updated the Clone Scout trooper helmet visor print for 2019 set for a moment, but I was just mistaken. It still looks innacurate in its witdh. Pretty sad
I remember my first LEGO set, it was anikans y wing in 2009 at some store because I don’t remember if it was an exclusive to a store or not, there was one left and I was 5 I climbed up a shelf and grabbed it. That is why my favorite ship in Star Wars is the y wing
I got the 2008 version for my 12th birthday in 2011, I wanted the 2004 AT-TE but we couldn't afford it at the time. But I had so much fun times playing with the AT-DP especially since I got the OG phase 2 clone battle pack.

The other advantage is ease of getting the various sets and minifigures. It is fairly easy to get older battle droids, while the newer versions can be found in a few sets. I would also point that the Kashyykk trooper is found in so few packs that it makes the 2019 set a better value, IMO.

The opening roof on most Star Wars walker cockpits are nice and great but I wish the roofs lock in position maybe by 2 or a single clip so it doesn't flip and move around when you're playing with the walker

The one from 2008 was great for its time,the one from 2014 had some new technics,play feattures and was the biggest one,it had a good selection of figures and was the most accurate making it my favorite,and the 2019 is just a bad copy of the 2014 one😐

@@patchyuo I have the 2014 one and its slightly taller and seems more to scale than the 2019 version. The 2019one may be improved and a slightly different design, but just has more of that playable childlike feeling and look while the 2014 feels and looks more like a display piece, the only thing I like about the 2019 version is that the back legs are further back away from the main hull by a couple studs

This is a tiny nitpick but why did lego change the strap on gree's left leg in 2019 from grey to beige?

Was tearing down and running inventory on the 2014 one, got super confused when going through bricklink because the 2019 one looks almost identical and is completely redundant, so I came here out of curiosity to try and sort out the differences

Man, it's been a long time since I've seen that 2008 set. I always remember seeing it advertised back in the day when I got other sets and I always wanted it (especially those shock troopers!!!) But never got it, has to settle with the lone shock trooper from the Clone battle pack from that era.
i actually got the middle one for a birthday present i believe, but i was never able to finish it since i either lost some parts, or they were never put there to begin with
So I ordered the 2008 one today because it was the one I always wanted when I was 7 years old. I saw it at a toys R us but ended up getting the stormtrooper drop ship battle pack instead! I might try to modify this older one to be more like the newer ones. Fun little project

2014 version is the best
Model tie with 2019. While it has more pieces and the superior cockpit to the 2019 version, the legs on the ladder version are great, and I like how the rear legs are posted just a little behind of the main body, something the 2014 version lacks.
Minifigures goes to 2014, which brought 2 new and exclusive figures to the table, along with a battle droid commander. 2019 gives us 2 droids that, while they look like kashyyk droids, are actually just gunners, and thus are far out of place in this set. There are also no droids of that variation found in EP3. They also just rehash the 2014 gree, and throw in a Chewbacca which many of us have multiple of, which is why tarful, which the 2014 version provided, and a fig we haven’t seen since, is the better option.
Value: Tie, as the sets are nearly identical

2014 has the better box. 2013 and 2014 winter wave box designs will never, ever be matched. I also prefer the 2014 set because of nostalgia. I remember seeing it in my instruction booklets and wanting it so damn bad. I finally got around to getting one just today, 6 years later, with the box on eBay for just 65$. What a steal.
Love these comparison videos, even if 'm a little late to the party on this one. Have to disagree on the winner though for 2 good reasons. The 2014 version has a much better slope design especially to the top of the main pod which also leaves less gaps and a more closed off cockpit. Also this set was released on the same day as the awesome 75035 Kashyyyk troopers battle pack which for sure gave you the clones to pilot the walker.
Idk if you know but the 3d leg is for when it shoots with its big cannon its basically to keep it standing
I really wish the last one included a Super Battle Droid, it'd be nice to help army build since I recently got given a metric shit tonne of droids (searching for cheap commando droids now to compliment them lol)
