I use one as my daily driver. After maxing out the ram, and doing a SSD swap, she runs like a dream. I used OCLP to install Sonoma - which runs without any issues.

I've been putting off using OCLP for Sonoma on mine. Mostly due to habitual procrastination. Ha!
Did you experience any initial technical obstacles installing Sonoma? You know, like losing Wifi or Bluetooth?
I may finally start backing up everything and giving it a shot ASAP.
      Thank for sharing!
      Cheers!

I use my 27' late-2013 iMac running Sonoma every single day, and twice on Sundays. It has a Core -i7 (4771) 3.5Ghz, a 2TB M.2 NVME and a 2TB SATA SSD + 32G of RAM. So your question asking if people would use this machine in 2024, not only makes absolutely no sense.

  • @EasyHeat
    @EasyHeat Před 5 měsíci +2

    Months back I scored a 21.5" 2013 "as is/for parts"
locally from the original owner for a whopping $50!
Turns out the old factory 256gb SSD finally folded when they went to wipe the machine prior to listing it.
    Would not boot. Yadda yadda.
So, I bring it home and use my USB MacOS boot thumb drive aaaand...?
    Total score specs wise!
It had a quad core i7-4770 CPU
    8gb ram
    GTX 750M 1gb, and a failed 256gb SSD.
Not to shabby for $50 right?!
Anyway, after investing an additional $40 for parts/tools?
I endured the intentionally laborious complete tear down process, maxed out the ram to 16gb, replaced the failed SSD with a NOS one, and then added an additional 1tb HDD
    that I had lying around.
    Overall?
For just $90 and a few hours of DIY labor?
    I got no complaints TBH.
Runs Reaper & Studio One like a champ!
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
