I would've absolutely bought the M1 iMac in a heartbeat if there was a 27" option for extra $200 or something like that, it would've been a dope machine, but a 23.5" display is a bit too small for my liking, despite the quality of the display being pretty great.
Apple for sure already had the Studio Display in mind last year. If they also released a 27" iMac with the exact same screen speakers mic and camera, plus keyboard & mouse, AND A COMPUTER INSIDE for the same price⊠Then people would realize how overpriced it is đ€Ą
@@joffrey6831 itâs what the people asked for. âTake the screen out of the 27in iMac and sell it as a monitorâ people didnât realize the cost savings they were getting from an all in one
@@chidorirasenganz People asked for that in 2017, now itâs brand new and already outdated ! Even MacBooks have better screens đ€·ââïž
The Studio Display is just an easy 5-in-1 solution for laptop users, with basic technology, no adjustable height and large bezels⊠Should be $1099 without the A13 chip, and a normal 1080p (lol) camera instead of the always cropped ultra wide one.
@@joffrey6831 It takes time to develop new products. Plus it wasnât a concern until 2018-2019 during which they were working on the apple silicon transition.
What 5k display can you get for 1099$? The ultrafine lg is 1300 and made of creaky plastic with worse speakers, cameras etc
The Macbooks only have better contrast. They are inferior in size, resolution and brightness.
The monitor needs a processor so the a13 is fine. It would be dumb to use anything older than that.
Center stage is awesome and it doesnât require you to use place your monitor in a certain angle to use your webcam. Plus the changing the framing when other people enter the frame.
@@chidorirasenganz You think Apple canât develop a monitor while working on Apple Silicon ? At least you agree itâs 3 years too lateâŠ
Because there is no other option doesnât mean itâs a good deal đ Youâre right about the LG Ultrafine costing $1299⊠in 2019.
MacBooks screens have more than higher contrast :
- can be set to 1000 nits (so not at all inferior in brightness)
- deep blacks with mini-leds
- 120Hz
- thin bezels
Same pixel density, just smaller screen for obvious reason.
No one care what chip is inside a monitor. Apple marketed the A13 inside like it was revolutionary đ± Yet you canât even use Center Stage on a Windows machine (meaning MacOS could handle it), and it doesnât even support AirPlay !!
Center Stage on a desktop computer will only be useful 1% of the time anyway, not worth being stuck with a cropped image.
Crazy as it sounds, the lack of Apple logo on the front of the M1 iMac has gotta play a part in why there hasnât been so many sales of them. People care about the Apple brand and that blank chin just looks so odd
I thought I was the only one. Cook doesn't understand branding or style.
@Runway Okay fanboy.
@Runway An apple logo takes away from your experience? Lol
Put a sticker there
@Runway itâs anything but a distraction imo. It looks cool as hell and the black apple logo complements the black bezel. Speaking of distraction, that white bezel draws attention away from the screen. If they were to make the 24â iMac an M2 in space grey and black bezels, best believe I would be in the market for that (apple logo or not). Cheers!
The screen might be dated but the 21.5 and 27â iMacâs are such nice looking (dare I say timeless?) machines. 24â just looks like a monitor.
I *did* get the 21â iMac, many years ago, maybe about a year after it first came out. I opted for the 16GB RAM, 512GB version mainly because the video editing software I planned to run recommended 16GB; it was also the first time I every used a macOS machine.
I eventually replaced it because Apple stopped supporting that model with its macOS updates, replacing it with a Dell workstation that I bought on sale, which was a mistake because the chipset was frustrating when it came to WIN10 updates, and so I got the 24â M1 iMac in blue, 16GB RAM and 1TB drive. Iâm really happy with it as a home workstation.
I opted for this size because I find 27â was really too big for my home office. I have one of those wooden DIY home station units that came out in the 1990s back when everyone was still using CRT terminals for monitors, and the cubbyhole space allotted for a monitor was just too small for a 27â monitor size.
I'm very happy with the M1 iMac I bought used. It took a few patient weeks (and a few missed opportunities) before I bought the one I did, one of the rarer 16GB models with the 8-core GPU and 512GB SSD for just $1350 after shipping. Beautiful machine, though it's too bad I can't see the deep blue part of it where I set it up.
I just got an m1 16gb for 850!
I'd take the i9 model, just for the repair/upgrade and thanks to Opencore you'll have mac OS support right up until the last intel mac to be supported. Not to mention you've got the avenue still open for Windows/Linux too.
Thats my plans.
I'm watching your video on my three-month old M1 24-inch iMac. You're correct. It's a fantastic buy. And I did upgrade it. It has more RAM (16gb), a larger drive (1tb), and an extended keyboard with a trackpad.
I own a 21.5 inch 4k iMac with the base Core i3 chip and an SSD, and in everyday use it's not noticeably slower than my M1 MacBook Air. Plus the major bonus you didn't mention is Bootcamp. Which is why it's very likely to be replaced with a refurbished 27 inch 5k iMac rather than an Apple silicon machine.
He sure did
Luke gives really solid, realistic and helpful advice on Tech.
Love the new imac everything about is totally great but the 24 inch screen is a deal breaker for me, I went 27 inch scrren back in 2017 and now 24 just feels so crammed ..apple did a huge miss by not releasing a 27 inch version and if they only give us the hugely overpriced studio display as an option guess imac won't be in my future ):
Yeah 3 inches apparently matters alot to many people. My ex included. She said once you experience bigger itâs hard to go back đ„Č
The M1 iMac is beautiful imo but I prefer the basic silver color vs. the rainbow color models. And Iâd want it with the number pad keyboard, 16gb ram, and 1tb storage as well which bumps the price quite a bit. Personally I donât have a need for a 27â screen; coming from 13-15â laptops the 24â screen seems huge to me!
Same, I love minimalism and the timeless design of aluminum or black and white.
Thanks for always being my go to for all things mac. You rock!
After watching your older iMac reviews, I was convinced to get a Late 2015 iMac 21.5 4k, 3.GHz, Intel Core i5, 1TB HDD 8GB and it works perfectly fine for me. Thanks so much for your good reviews!
You need SSD drive for your 2015 iMac
@@loc5706 why? Does they use hdd?
I have a 2019 21.5" iMac that I bought as an upgraded refurb from OWC in August 2020. With 32gb of RAM and a 2tb OWC SSD, it is simply amazing for everything I do with it. It is the perfect size for my desk, I don't need a 27" 5k display. You know one of the things I like the best about it? Its simple 3.6GHz 4-core i3 without Turbo Boost, which means I have never heard a fan without pressing my ear against the case and the thing barely feels warm even after hours of heavy use. And I can boot into Mojave so I can use old, never-upgraded/abandoned 32-bit applications when I want to.
I don't edit videos for a living so rendering speed isn't a major issue for me. I am not playing the hottest new game that was released last week so the 2gb Radeon 555x doesn't bother me at all. OWC still sells these upgraded refurbs, if you just do "general computing" stuff, this thing is a great choice.
What games do I play and how much did u pay if U donât mind me asking
@@joshshepherd7911 Pretty much just Lord of the Rings Online, although I have played Batman: Arkham City, Total War: Empire, and a few undemanding titles such as FTL and Avernum: Escape From the Pit. The price for my exact configuration of that exact iMac is currently $1050, I paid more than that when I bought it two years ago and don't regret a penny of it.
I have personally already bought an M1 iMac and not too long after it came out as I was using a late 2012 iMac and seriously needed an upgrade. And that is what I did. Love this machine (I got it in orange)
One added benefit of the Intel chip is that it can run Windows inside Bootcamp, which is currently not possible with an M1 Mac. You can run Windows in virtualization on a M1, but for some, that just isnât like running Windows natively.
Thatâs true and thatâs a big reason why sometimes I choose to bring my 2016 MacBook Pro instead of my M1 Macbook Air. That being said when Iâm back at my desk I have an i7-4770k desktop to compensate for my Windows needs. Windows just does screen and computer audio captures so easily while MacOS requires complicated 3rd party plugins. Oh and my decade old Windows PC still games a lot better than M1, just that it canât keep up with productivity work.
thanks for the video Luke
I'm going to add another underrated one - the M1 mini. I picked it and an M1 air up at launch and my Mini does the "heavy lifting" - with handoff, I can set up a project on my M1 Air, and then hand it off to my mini to be rendered down to soup stock. Yeah, for faster rendering you should absolutely get the 16gb ram mini variant, but if you're setting up a project and leaving it to render undisturbed, it doesn't make much of a difference.
The 2019 21.5" 4K iMac is it! It's taken me time (years) to decide to split up what I do with my computers (music recording/production, photo and video editing) into 2 computers. For the DAW I use (Studio One) and third party plugins, even with more workability with M1's now, music software companies tend to take much more time to adjust and conform to new cpu's and operating systems. Probably partly because musicians/recording engineers and producers also like what they like and if it works, they won't fix it or change it for decades until it just won't work anymore. If only the price of CPU's would come down a little...
Exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to get the 21 1/2 inch MK but I didnât know if it would be upgradable. Thanks.
I personally own the 21.5 imac they I literally got for free and for me the biggest drawback was the camera. So I upgraded it as well, with a 1080p beast đ I initially tried the 2020 imac 27" camera (the one that you cannot buy đ) but even though its sharing the same connector it has a different pinout etc. I ended up hooking up the usb-protocol camera inside, works and looks like a factory form camera but exceedes most of modern machines (not that sharp as 14" and 16" macbooks though, but it's close đ ) happy to share more info if you're interested đ
I bought a 2017 fully loaded iMac for $500 bucks recently. It was a great buy and I am glad I have it as my machine now. (:
Excellent video sir. đ
For my use case (Medical Imaging) Iâd choose the Intel because can run Win10 in Bootcamp and many if not most medical imaging and EMR software applications run only in Windows unless they are zero footprint and run in browsers as is true for the software based on my patents - Ikonopedia.
Love your videos! Good work!
I have a 21,5 inch 4K imac. Never knew I could upgrade that cpu. I did swap the HDD for a SSD and got it running MacOS Monterey. But now Iâm thinking to rock it an i9
I enjoy watching your videos.
if the M1 iMac was a 27" or larger display, I would have bought one. Especially if they offered a matching display for a 2 or 3 screen solution. Until something like this is available, I'll keep my 27" 5k iMac and 27" apple monitor. i7 and upgraded ssd makes it quick enough for everything I use it for.
I used to use noting but 21.5" iMacs because it was all I could afford. I loved them for their size and how little space they use. I got a 2020 27" for $245 on FaceBook Marketplace which is a steal so I finally have a 27".
Love the IMac and youâve inspired me to pick one of them up. I say buy both . Thank you
What was the total cost of the upgrades for the 21.5"? I just got the m1 iMac (with two fans) and love it, especially the beauty of the screen. Also I do have an M1 Mac Mini with 16 gigs of ram and a m1 MBP 13". I had gotten the 16" base m1 pro but it was way big and heavy for class and such. I will probably eventually get the 14".
great video man
Waiting so patiently for WWDC to see if updated macs come. Thereâs been amazing deals on M1 iMacs in the UK which have been so so tempting
I agree the 24inch iMac is amazing using it to watch your video instead of a lot other devices at my finger tips
Iâd love to see how you upgraded to the i9 in that iMac and what other hardware you changed out and what tools you used.
I love my M1 iMac too. Was tempted to by the Studio Display and Mac Mini, but the iMac is just so beautiful and compact. Just wish there was a bigger size.
I like the 27â iMac because of the screen size (for my old eyes). I think your next project should be to show us how to upgrade a 27â iMac with an M1 or M2 chip. Also, show us how to turn a 27â iMac into a monitor for the M1 MacMini.
Yes, yes, yes!
I'm surprised there's still no M1 Pro version of the iMac. I also think people might seem more value in an iMac if Apple still allowed you to use it in a monitor only mode, that would give it lasting value.
The other great thing about either of these machines is that you can use something like Luna Display to make it a 4K/4.5K monitor for a MacBook/Mini/Studio.
Your awesome! Thank you for inspiring me! ;) I appreciate you
i bought a floor model 27 inch 2020 iMac from Best Buy for 800. I have total tech and apple care for extra reassurance. hopefully should still have lots of life in it. It looks and feels like new and I really love it. The fact itâs upgradable and has a 27 inch screen makes me pick it over the m1.
I love the design of the iMac! Especially the green and blue one
How was your horses there, lad - do they have one of these available for my M2 MacBook? Thanks for the tip off anyway you are so very accurate in your description of the importance of having connectivity between diverse devices! Most of mine being Pole devices, from 2022 back to 2016
I'm watching this video on my new, to me, 21.5" iMac - 2015 model which I bought recently for less than ÂŁ300 UK. It's probably not as upgradable as the one above as I believe it has soldered ram (and I don't do solder) but it's got a 1TB hard drive, a 3.1ghz processor and was totally mint! Thanks for the great content Luke.
look at the model on everymac, it will tell you everything you need to know
This past Spring, I spent all of the money from my COVID check, plus some of my savings, and bought a refurbished M1 Mac Mini w/ 16 GB RAM and a 2 TB SSD from Apple direct. I paired if up with a +15-year-old monitor so now I have a FrankenMac. I had thought seriously about buying a reburbished M1 iMac instead, but if I had, I would have wanted the VESA-mount version which wasn't offered as a refurb. I have to admit, it was a close call and I still wonder what it would've been like to buy a loaded refub iMac instead. I had no idea how upgradeable the final-generation Intel iMac was. That's interesting, but if I could go back in time I would definitely stick with Apple Silicon.
Yes It's good to say to fix the 21.5, but I would try and screw it up unless you do one for me. I would rather go with the M1 ready to go and start working on it and the price is fantastic, I am sure when the new ones come out in WWWDC OR I BELIEVE IT WOULD it will be even better with the M2 what do you think
I bought a 2020 fully loaded 27in intel model iMac, 3.6GHz 10-core 10th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz, Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, 1TB SSD storage, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and I upgraded the ram to 128GB DDR4 and I couldn't be happier. I love the new M1 Macs, but I'm sticking with intel until it breaks! Love it.
Great video and I love your CZcams present! Either machine for the next 4 to 5 years would be ok. I like the upgrade compatibility of the older machine's CPU, memory, & SSD with some work and the cost of the older machine. Hmm btw - My job just brought me the 16" MacBook M1 Pro 16GB with 1TB SSD and I love it.
I really wish they made a 27 inch imac but at least they made a way to make the imac 24 look super cheap lol
My wife has a 2017 21.5" iMac that I bought off the refurb store. The last couple of years there has been a thin red vertical line running down the display. I googled it and they say it is a bad ribbon cable. You can't hardly see it when you are logged on. It is mostly visible on the log on screen so she has been living with it.
Good video. Wasn't aware the most recent Intel iMac was RAM, CPU, and SSD upgradeable. I'll be looking more closely at refurbished iMacs, now. Presently I have an M1 Mini base model and a 2014 i5 Mini. So, you've certainly peaked my interest. Again, good video.
When the M1 iMac first came out I was pretty meh about the next gen. Why on earth would I step down from a 27 inch 5k display to a 24 and have fewer IO ports? (And pay a bunch of money to basically downgrade to a lesser system.) Nope I went the other way. I went out and bought a faster CPU, more ram and trashed the Fusion Drive for a sexy new NVME SSD. It was so gratifying when you posted the Cinebench results comparing the i9 with the base M1 processor. In your words, "It slaps."
A year ago, Inspired by your modded iMac video, I picked up a base model 27" iMac for my wife and close to maxed it out. 8GB -> 64GB ram (running at full supported speed), replaced the i5 8500k with an i9 9900K (running a custom fan profile to keep it cooler and boost performance), swapped the fusion hard drive setup with a 2tb nvme for the os and apps, and a 14tb HDD for storage. Since my wife needed it for our design business (Flavor Graphics), it needed to not have any compatibility issues that early M1 platforms were having. So far, it's served her well, and it's hard to beat the price-to-performance.
Love to see the video of that update!
What year iMac can upgrade from 8500 to 9900?

Finally! Could you please often do videos, they are making me happy :)
The 24" iMac is just perfect for me.... I don't usually do a lot of heavy stuff but when I do, the M1 chip is just good enough...
Hi, Luke. Great content. Looking for advice here.
I have a 2013 non-retna Imac 21.5 inch i7 16gb ram 1tb fusion drive. I was wondering if I can swap displays and change it to 4k one.
I love that machine and even today it works like new, apple trade it gives me 150$ for it last time I checked, and now it's probably even less. I refuse to settle for $150 for the machine I paid over $2100 so I'm exploring whether or not it can be done, also can be a good idea for a video lol.
Thanks and good luck.
I buy them! Probably too many of them. đ
I ordered a shiny new M1 iMac at launch, and Iâve purchased four refurbished ones over the past year for various family members. We all love them!
I get why people miss the 27â iMac, but I can also see why an all-in-one desktop is becoming a niche product these days, in a sea of MacBooks and iPads - especially with the new Mac Studio taking the performance crown, and the budget Mac mini positioned as the most affordable entry point into macOS.
But for the vast majority of desktop computing use cases, you just canât beat the 24â M1 iMac. Itâs laptop simplicity in a desktop form factor, and thatâs what I love about it.
I have just updated my Late 2009 21.5" iMac that is still going (somewhat slow 4GB ram) just couldn't update the operating version to take advantages of the latest Photoshop & Lightroom functions or MS Office.
Loving my new 24" M1 iMac 16GB ram 1TB hard drive and the full Touch ID keyboard with numeral keys with 2nd 24" display attached.
Now you can't tell me you would find a 2009 PC still going without having ANYTHING being done to it from new.
I personally do not like the new design. If they made it in silver aluminum with the apple logo and the black bezel, count me in then.
I have the basic m1 imac. It is great for photographers and home office, very reliable.
Great screen, takes little space on the desk, fluent working in lightroom and photoshop. An external ssd is necessary for bigger libraries.
I just hate that mouse :) usb ports could be much faster, but it is fine for photo editing.
I think the best deal is really a refurb 202 27 iMac. You can get the for good deals and can upgrade the ram to 128gb whenever you want. There are more ports, the screen is bigger and higher resolution, and performance is basically the same as the M1 chips. The newer M2 chips beat it, but those computers all cost a lot more once you add getting a bigger display etc
Thank You SO Much!!!!!
Between the core i9 and M1, i would go with the i9. This way all of my legacy apps would work without waiting on apple silicon versions of the apps to be made available.
When the hardware eventually is forced into obsolescence by Apple, I could install any number of Linux distros and breathe new life into the hardware.
Look how stunning that green one is, more tech should look like that
Between them, I say M1. On one hand, there's something to be said about being able to upgrade a device. However, I'm of the mindset that you should just a device in the specs you need to start out with. So, if you have to immediately upgrade an upgradable device to the max for it to be worth it, then it probably isn't going to have that long of a life because there's no future upgrade path. Also for as upgradable as those intel iMacs are, upgrading them is not for the faint of heart. There are too many steps that could easily result in the device being damaged beyond repair (or at least making repair cost prohibitive) or result in significant injury or death because of the exposed power supply.
Nice video, didn't know the CPU was replaceable on these iMacs, but my i7 already runs incredibly hot, probably adding a degree or two in the room I'm in. I pretty much only want the new Apple silicon for that reason and the lower power requirement is a nice bonus.
My M1 Mac-Mini has 2 32" displays on them and that alone precludes me right now on getting the NEw M1 iMac. In a few years I might get one more for nostalgia than use. Still love the colors and new look, but as some have said a base model 27" would be a better size now! Of course, Apple has discontinued their initial 27' so... Yeah!
Love the M1 iMac, screen and sound quality is great.
This was a really good video thanks. I have to say I really did a weird one recently I found a 4K LG 22 inch monitor that literally was never taken out of the box it was brand-new got it for about 400 bucks. Which isnât bad considering using the MacBook Air m1and that thing is just killing it because with an iPad Pro is the second monitor and using the new functionality itâs great and I mean that monitor is awesome itâs sharper than sharp. I mean in graphic design stuff 22 inches to me is perfect because as you focus on one thing it just really is a perfect size and I love it man absolutely
The M1 iMac is a great valueâŠthe âissueâ is that most users are looking for laptops rather than desktops. I agree that the $200 upgrade from the base model is worth the money.
Upgrading the CPU memory and storage on that 2019 21.5â iMac is also an intriguing option. An i9-9900 CPU, 16GB-32GB RAM, and for some users, larger SSD makes it a very solid option.
I upgraded to a 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM on my 21.5 4k iMac 2019 model. Finally it is now a really sweet machine. Looking forward to upgrading the CPU but I can only find 'K' CPUs at a decent price. It's my understanding that the 'K' CPUs are not recommended for the 2019 iMacs because of heat dissipation.
@@jpreza If you havenât looked already, check eBay.
Core i9 is really good and fast but just watch out for coil whine. I had a 16â MPB plagued by this issue. Also because itâs kinda over clocked the fans will probably be screaming if you are doing anything cpu intensive.
Exactly
If they would both last 5 or more years without issues and still be supported by Apple like previous iMacs it is a very good deal. I was surprised to see that Apple is still supporting the 2015 iMac. That is a long time to have a Mac that is up to date and fast enough to do most of what you need. Great videos, keep up the good work.
I hope you can patch these machines later on just like we can now with the old Intel Macs. My 2012 Mac Mini runs Bug Sur very well and my sister's 2011 21â iMac is on Monterey with no problems.

Dual-boot it Windows10 Pro and OS X Mojave. It's the last of an era.
Easily run most of your Linux needs through OS X, and potentially your Android needs through Windows. No need to settle for the kiddy macOS and Windows 11 builds.
I would probably change my tune with the next-gen lineup, for instance, Dualbooting on new platform, Apple M2 Max chip, a 30-ish inch size, or a tabletop-swivel for touchscreen.
@GeorgeJones who cares it ran windows better than an actual Microsoft machine!
I've taken my iMac apart a couple of times, I'd definitely go for the M1 and enjoy it without hesitation

Good video Luke but Iâd like to add a third option - 2009-2011 iMacs - yes they are older and screen isnât 4K and the software is no longer supported by Apple BUT they are easier to upgrade, much cheaper $100-300, and Mojave or Catalina can be patched installed. Iâve got a 2011 iMac that has i7 quad core (as opposed to i3 in Lukeâs example) with SSD and 16GB of ram. Runs pretty well for my modest usage. I mean for most ppl who want to browse, email, stream, office task etc, it is a good machine :)
Ive got a mid 2010 iMac with an i7, 16gb ram and 1tb storage running Monterey ( patched). Abit slow on startup but once in it runs fine.
I have a soft spot for that monster 21â. If I was in the market, thatâs what Iâd go for.
Costco has a sale now in UK ÂŁ999 for this iMac with 8GPU, 16 GB Ram and 1TB SSD
I have the old intel imac⊠2015, itâs on its knees. I bought it for photos but now I edit movies, host live meetings etc. is the other worth investing in? Or do I need to payout a little more?
ok, Luke calm down. I have to admit your are absolutely right. If I needed a desktop computer I would definitely buy one of these things (or have a look at the 27" version) and send you a thank you note later for the advice. My MacBook and me are perfectly happy together.
Dude, the way you are holding the screen, totally makes me flinch đ
definitely agree with your assessment.
i love the intel iMac for its upgradability but itâs still a $400-$500 iMac at the end of the day on old intel platform
for about the same price, iâd go for the M1 with its bigger screen, design and other features
In Russia it's still anywhere from 700 to 1200 USD depending on the condition
brooooo
So you would rather pay for cellphone and mobile device architecture cpus and gpus that are currently in most iPsds, Samsungâs, and iPhones? Why not just get you a Raspberry Pi 64-bit with 8gb or one of the more powerful SBCâs and do the DIY thing until reveals their patent, which is very similar to mine, another couple of products that are already out, and one that just got upgraded and re-released. If you have Samsung mobile devices, tvâs, etc., you should be smiling from ear to ear!! You already know what Apple is about to do!! If I find any of these previously released devices, I will show you exactly why all Apple customers who paid thousands of dollars for mobile cpu arm architecture in their expansive ass machines, are going to REVOLT!! I hope they release the folding iPhone, that I have been waiting for for at least four years now, soon; then I can really show off! Especially since it should come with a worldwide required standard usb-c port!! Yay!! Everyone in the world will understand what I am talking about then!! In the meantime, let me see if I can get the machine I want and combine with one of Samsung phones or a Raspberry Pi, or similar device!! All of us waiting to buy our next phone and not a new cpu, we will truly be blessed!!
@@DirtyMoney1971 i remember when I was 15 and I thought I knew everything too
@@speedyg123.i bought a 2017 4k retina imac with a quad core i5, 1 tb storage, 8 gigs of ram, and radeon pro 555 for 90 bucks. Honestly best deal on ebay ever ngl.
The imacs issue as far as it being availble is two fold. Part of it is definitely the bezels which to me is silly because as a graphic designer when I am creating I am so lazer focused on the screen the bezels more than melt away. This was to me (not everyone but me persoonally) the joke of people always complaining about the 27â imac. That form was beautiful and now on the refurb store for a crazy discount of 13-=00-1450 depending on ssd size. That is crazy fair. The 24â is also a great price although mostly everything on the refurb store is only 8gb of memory but I am running cc on a mba m1 with 512 gb hd and 8 gb of mem and it works really well even using AE. I am not an expert but it seems like long as tou have a 512 or 1tb hd the memory swap makes up for lack of physical memory. Not an expert. Only an observation.
I had a 27 inch Intel iMac and I replaced it with the 24 inch iMac (non-base model). I love it!
I have been waiting for an M1 ⊠27â or 30â iMacâŠ. My 2018 MBP has been trouble and had to be serviced and got a bunch of parts replaced via AppleCare⊠but all my iMacs have been so much more reliable⊠and they have amazing screens! ⊠and they run my legacy programs as well⊠invaluable
I loved my 27" iMac so much for so many years. The iMac screens need to be 27" or larger. For Mac to go backwards to 24" as the largest iMac was just heartbreaking for me. That's when I said that I was done with the iMacs. I hope that they will come out with the iMac 27" or larger in the future.
I would lean toward the M1 but I need to add 2 additional monitors (nursing research). Can the M1 support 2 additional monitors? Thanks
Without a doubt, your opening grabbed my attention
I've had the M1 iMac since launch, and it was a great replacement for my Mac Air. Now I don't need a second screen, and the sound is amazing. I went for the high tier model, and I do not regret it. Spend a lot of time using my computer, so money well spent. Would highly recommend this machine!
I think the 2020 13â MBP with 4 thunderbolt ports is actually a pretty good machine especially since you can get one with a pretty low price nowadays. Itâs a great secondary Mac if you love using Mac laptops but have compatibility issues with stuff that doesnât run Intel applications properly since itâs the only machine with 10nm intel chips aside from the MacBook Air at the time which has inadequate cooling while the Pro has a pretty nice heat pipe and dual fans and you can replace the thermal paste yourself to make it run even cooler. Itâs definitely way better than the 16â Intel variant which has the older and WAY more power hungry CPU and of course the over powered GPU for a laptop so using it on your lap isnât particularly enjoyable. But the 13â with 4 thunderbolt ports is way better in value. The 1038NG7 is pretty good though going for the 1068NG7 since it has the thermal capacity to handle it along with fairly decent but not too power hungry integrated graphics is a really good option considering you can buy this machine for under $1000 or a little over if you go for the 32GB RAM upgrade and a storage capacity increase. Definitely not nearly as good as an 14â M1 Pro but compared to a MBP 13â with an M1 itâs almost on par with value and especially useful if you use older apps and/or jump between Mac and Windows and also like having the extra 2 ports on the right.
I'm sorry, but in no way is the 13" 2020 Intel MBP with 4 thunderbolt ports even close in terms of value to the M1 MacBook Air, let alone the M1 MacBook Pro. I'd take way better performance and reliability over 2 ports and 2 extra old apps, any day of the week.
I use a 21.5" iMac from 2012, and I paid $75 for it. Love it, and I have done quite a few upgrades to it. My favourite computer ever.
Does it still work fine ? Someone wants to sell me their 2017 21' imac for âŹ150
@@Overthinker93i bought a 4k 21.5 2017 imac for 90 bucks lamo but that is a good deal
would that Anker be of use with a 2009 iMac ?
I see those HDMI ports on the Anker and I wonder if I can transfer programs that I have recorded from my cable TV onto my DVR, and now transfer them to my computer and make a CD or DVD with my iMac
IMO too many miss the older 27-inch iMac. Meaning by and large when it's time for Apple people to upgrade, they expect an upgrade that's noticeable, as in the word upgrade. Many really don't ever contemplate what's under the hood, I think all many saw and understood was a smaller display. Sure there could be real supply chain and display manufacturing issues, but still, it's what the average user sees.
I love the M1 Pro MacBook, but for me not being able to play games is why I do not have a iMac, but if I did not play games I would probably have one. Great video as always Like!!
Those M1 24" Macs are fantastic and I bought 2 of them.
Hey Luke, does the suped up intel Mac have CPU cooling issues? Not much room for a good heat sink and fan.
A PC user here. I don't like iMacs or any other Apple products but its nice to see your enthusiasm.
I bought the M1 and I would buy another one if I needed a new Mac right now. Itâs a very nice computer. In fact of all the computers Iâve ever owned so far, this one is my favorite!
