    People net, I was shop foreman at a transport Co. in Peru, Il. That is where CF had a big terminal at one time,, Anyway the company took over a trucking company out Iowa and Myself and another guy had to go there and installed People net in all the tractors. It took two days and that was cooking,,, I wish I could remember how many units in all, I do remember we got down to one every 40 minutes. This must have been in 2004.

    Hey Chuck, another great blog. You were just in my backyard in Grand Rapids. I usually travel from US 31 To 94 to 131 when traveling up to GR from Indianapolis. there is some great scenery driving from Indy to GR taking the US 31 route. At the time you’re traveling traffic would’ve been super light. White castles are the bomb in the Midwest. Next time order with just mustard, ketchup and onion. Just a doubles with cheese.

  • @jimrossi7708
    @jimrossi7708 Před 2 lety +1

    We have a White Castle down the block from where I live, haven’t had one in a while but they are cheap and even sold by the case or bag but I loved the chicken rings with honey mustard !
    You talk about small Terminals well when I drove for Central Transport and they send me down south to Bristol, Tn, I said to myself this isn’t very big but darn when I went to Asheville, NC now that was small, like 10 or 12 doors only and dark ! But it was a place to get a nice sleep because they would lock up by 8pm and open at 6am, gates had combination locks so once you locked the gate behind you knew that the only one that could bother you was the Fort Worth driver who would be dropping my NJ trailer and taking the one I brought down, once they where a well run company but that was 20 years ago ! Stay safe !

  • @paulsteensma8249

    Estes GR yard is the old Holland yard. It is a nice terminal. The old part of the terminal ( north end ) is like 80 foot wide where the new dock ( south end ) is about 25 foot wide. Plus, the office and garage area is constructed out of brick instead of just slapping some sheet metal up. Its solid and has some character to it. Estes old yard in GR was super small! US 31 in Indiana has only 6 traffic lites you could catch. During the middle of the night you can cruise down through there no problem and not stop. It'll save you 25 to 30 minutes of time one way. Indiana is working on making it all highway through there. Check it out next time. Nice to see you made to my hood!😃 Safe travels Chuck!👍

    Chuck before working for Yellow I worked for Kehe Foods out of Addison Illinois and every Thursday we would run to spartan food warehouse in Grand Rapid Michigan. We all hated that run . You ran 196 up along the lake . Chuck it was foggy in the spring and fall and lots of snow and ice in the winter. You got all the lake effect snow plus 196 was a dark road . We also ran to Indy down 65 was not a bad run except when we got a good snow .There was a section of 65 called the junkyard was a few big hills and a few turns just outside Purdue university. Chuck it looked like a junkyard trucks and cars all over was always major accidents there .Be safe enjoyed the video.

    You talk about how important the mechanics are well when I worked at Central Transport they hooked me up with everything from washers to dummy gladhands to extra electric cords and kept my toolbox well stock with almost anything I could need because at 2am and you’re at a Terminal in the middle of nowhere and dark you don’t want to wait on road service for say a glad hand for your rear trailer ! I loved running through the far northeast at 2am going up to Moncton, NB Canada, Route 9 between Bangor, Me and the US/Canadian border crossing was my absolute favorite!!

    When you pull a trailer away from the dock like you did I didn't see and red and green lights at the dock. They always had them when I was hauling mail. Red light meant you can't hook and pull it away - green light meant that the trailer was closed and ready to be pulled away.
    Was wondering how you tell if the trailer was ready - that nobody was in the trailer when you hooked to it.

      Get a stream light stinger. Rechargeable. Comes with light/charger and two batteries. Charger has both 120v wall,, and car 12v charge cord. Can't beat it at all for about 150 on Amazon ‼️. Same light the police carry. Is super super ‼️ bright. Been using the chit owt mine 3 year with no issues at all ‼️ they even sell switch and led bulb replacement assembly. So it's not a throw away light you can rebuild it when need be. Absolutely worth every dime ‼️ very durable ‼️✔️👍
