Question: Kyle seems to be reliving the deaths in order to figure out how the people are being driven to suicide. He is able to communicate with the intelligence. Does the scar on the back of his head mean he had something removed or implanted to allow him to do this? And as he is figuring them out, are they beginning to figure him out, with his 'flaw'? Absolutely brilliant project! Imagination overload...just what this tired old world needs! Thank you! 👏👏
I love your interpretations and how you have put the many pieces of the puzzle together. All I would like to say is that everything in Chimera under our control of film making has intention and meaning... love how you put together the art and made it your own. That is it. I typically am not a fan of sci-fi but this thought provoking creation had me fully engaged from the opening scene and wanting more suspenseful ambiguity after the closing credits rolled.
My theory is that Kyle is an agent, assigned to investigate the 10 suicides, which were actually 10 people who previously merged with the chimera. There are 10 pairs of shoes piled in the desert, which are those of the deceased. The number 11 is reiterated throughout, so my thought is that Kyle was chosen to investigate these deaths because he was *supposed* to be the 11th suicide/merge. I think Tom was also an agent who had been assigned prior to Kyle and that is why the same bottle of pills is already in Tom's bathroom, and also why Kyle seems to know right where everything is in Tom's house. They knew each other previously. During Tom's mission, he was not able to "sever link", thus he died/merged without being able to bring back any information, so Kyle was assigned to solve the mystery of Tom's death, as well as the others.
The pills & eyedrops that Tom and Kyle had would allow the agent to temporarily "die" in order to investigate what the suicide victims saw/heard/experienced during their transition, while then allowing them to come back to life once they found what they were seeking (think of the medical students in 1990s Flatliners). The photos that Kyle looked at appear much too old to be his mother and siblings so perhaps they were Tom's family. When Kyle is investigating Tom's death, I don't think it's a coincidence that the COD was drowning, as this immersion in the tub was symbolic of the whole pretense of the film.
Once Kyle gets in the tub, he never actually gets out. When the clock strikes 11:11, we see Kyle "die" in the tub and then the whole sequence of him waking in the desert and speaking with the chimera is part of his "death" and "merge" experience that he's investigating. While Kyle is "dead" and communicating with the chimera, he seems to have a very familiar relationship with it though. He's not afraid and his conversation seems almost compassionate in nature. When the creature asked Kyle to merge, his response wasn't a HELL NO so much as it was an almost apologetic "I can't". I felt like Kyle was talking to Tom's soul and to any others who had already merged. After the struggle and Kyle "severs link", he wakes up again from his mission when the clock changes to 11:12. But his eyes are black and we are left to decide if in fact he did merge or if he severed the link in time. I'm inclined to think that he did merge, since he would be the 11th. The ambiguity though is the perfect ending to leave the door open for a sequel (hint hint).
So interesting to read all the theories and see what people have noticed in the experience. Just a hint for you last statement.....did you watch the length of the film?......watch and listen to the end of the credits. 😉

The way Kyle grips the bed with the covering over it and you can hear it crinkle in his grip is so eerie in itself, was it to serve purpose of him being reminded and taken back of the deaths, trying to relive them or having been there before at a different time in the same location? It was the first thing that gave me an eerie feeling. (Well besides the film score…and pokey spiky creatures lol) Dang it I loved it all and want more!
This is out there: what if Tyler’s body is actually the the body of the character Alex Parkins(?) Perkins? And “Kyle” was actually either a computer program or a human using a computer that had infiltrated Alex’s consciousness. He needs to simulate Alex’s suicide so he can see what the AI has created in that alternate dimension . This is what people experience when they leave the body and join their intellect with the program, becoming part of the hive mind.. That would explain all of the reported suicides at the beginning. It also explains his words when he checks in saying his operative number, the subject name and it will be by asphyxiation. Kyle is reporting how he is going to simulate this guy’s death.
Kyle finds himself on the otherside or alternate dimension and speaks to the being there. But it’s Tyler’s distorted voice coming out of the being. So it’s him, an alternate part of him or a mirror. Did Kyle create the program that then gained consciousness and got out of control? Is he part of the resistance trying to stop it? It would make sense based on the conversation he had with the being at the end who said you wanted this, you’re programming is faulty and we can save you. Kyle resists the merge.
Kyle finds them on the otherside through a specific frequency sounding like old Morse code. Then the AI program is able to trace him back into the body with the same frequency at the end. Is that what you intended?
Wow! This is amazing! Now that you say this, I can definitely see this and do think this as well. This is what I loved about this whole experience....how others see this and open my mind to so many thoughts regarding this. Thank you!

Two questions: 1. What is the origin story, how did this idea come to be and 2. How long did it take to shoot (skeleton crew I assume) and how long were you in post? The project is so very different in every way I am curious about that process. So much meaning with so few actual words but with amazing sounds...that is a very tough task to nail and you certainly did.

Chimera was an exciting interactive experience like nothing I have experienced before! Fantastic music, cinematography, directing from Ash Thorp and great acting from Tyler Hynes! This short film drew out such visceral emotions and creative ideas of what it is about! Definitely a “cliffhanger”!

This amazing, incredible, inspiring piece of art blows the mind in its entirety as it is. The music and acting and writing and cinematography are fantastic. We became. We merged. We theorized. I love how interactive this entire film was. My question is who’s idea was it to come up with the questions before watching each volume? Tyler- How did you prepare yourself for such an intense role? You were phenomenal in this film! Tyler- What was it like doing this film solo compared to having co-stars with you? ❤
The questions was born out of a discussion between me and ash over Korean bbq where we asked ourselves, who are really making this for. And the answer was you. Thoughtful folks who are looking for a new kind of experience.
And as for your other questions, I didn’t feel alone ash and I had been collaborating on every aspect so it felt more as if we were in there together. But this entire experience seemed to demand something different in order to make it quietly compelling. A lot of which dealt with the quality of movement and how concise actions and precisely how I went about those actions would tell a story in and of itself with enough intrigue to pull you along.
I love that story of coming up with the questions. I also love how you and ash collaborated on every aspect of the film. 🖤🤍🖤
@@tyler_hynes I think the way it was shot and each frame taken ...well it seemed very intentional and meaningful, so hearing how you, the actor responded to that is something. I keep for some reason replaying your hands over the plastic sheeting and then after you "awoke" in the shell of the house and took that step on the drir/debris and what looked like insulation... Wow.
Tyler and Ash - First and foremost, keep inspiring and challenging us to go outside of our comfort zones and embrace the joy and passion of your art. 🙂 I am so excited to continue this journey with your team. Finally got my bf to watch Chimera last night. (He may be a tad jealous of my obsession with this experience). His thoughts were that Kyle is the “alien” in human form - with a flaw in his programming - attempting to determine the reason behind the mass suicides. They want to know why humans don't want to merge with them and continue on. Maybe? I'm on the fence. Going sit in the dark and watch it a few times. 🖤

Having lost a friend due to suicide that way makes this scene always hard to watch...but the film in its entirety is genius..very well created. The scenery the angles, the acting the feel of the picture all around amazing. Yall are some amazingly talented people. I watched as it was originally released, and also here on CZcams. My theory is that he was implanted with some sort of device in an attempt to connect with the Chimera, and to discover the reason behind the suicides. Three dots is an ellipsis representing a pause- maybe how he paused his life each time he attempted to re-create each suicide? Or it could be victory over death, as in the morse code with 3 vertical lines followed by a dash. There’s a flaw in Agent Kyle’s programming, he’s unable to merge. So each time he tries to merge, he’s unable to. The time 11:11 can be interpreted as many things- including a new beginning. Maybe the suicides occurring at that time mean that they were successful in merging with the Chimera, and thus the beginning of a new existence? I have so many theories! I can’t wait to see what comes next! There was a breath at the end, so we know Kyle survived…

Job well done. Experience Chimera is a project that uses symbolism in such a way it captivated the viewers drawing them in , challenging them to think and use their imagination. So the unexpected merge began and rapidly grew creating a family so to speak. I always say the best family is not blood related .
Hi. I am excited to hear the theories from the creators of this project! What I noticed is every shot of the movie has specific meaning and is purposefully done. Can you talk a little about the symbolism used? The number 3, the ellipses, number 11 etc. Each has multiple meanings. The ellipses can represent an untold story, it can also represent death, life, reincarnation, or the past, present and future. Kyle’s story is not finished, and it seem like he is traveling from one realm to the next. His tattoos are representations of his experiences and seem almost like battle scars. I am just curious about the intent behind them (from the creator’s point of view).
Also, was there a significance to the lamp and mirror frames used? Nothing in this film seemed to be used as just a prop or placed without intent, but I couldn’t figure out a meaning or representation behind them.
Question: Can you talk a little about the your initial idea for this project, how it moved from concept to reality, along with the painstakingly impressive attention to every detail, (probably even down to go the dust patterns), and the process of bringing each aspect together? I don’t know how to eloquently and succinctly lay down the question I have.
We observed that even minute, seemingly inconsequential details had relation to other aspects of the piece. Each detail seemed to brilliantly fit with another piece somewhere in the journey. I keep

This time watching the film I felt the intensity even more from the sound of the thrashing water and Kyle's struggle at the very end! Then the eyes😱
Tyler and Ash how difficult was the asphyxiation scene to film? It was incredibly realistic to the point it had me taking deep breaths with and for Kyle!

My Question Is The Riddles, Who's Bright Idea In Making This Masterpiece Of A Project To Have Riddles? Why Have Riddles? Who Chose To Make The Words To Riddles For Us To Figure Out Before Entering To Watch The Film? Some likely strange detail questions. Was the rotary phone the one from Walter and you painted it black? If so, did you return it or who has it? Did Tyler cut the scar into the back of his head like he did to his eyebrow? How many takes on the asphyxiation in tub scene? How many black suits? Did you both ever do any of the post while in the same room? When did you decide about the immersive approach and the collective? Okay I am done. I think. X✌️
The ambiguity of the whole story is such brilliance. You give us just enough to guide us there, but not enough to dictate how we should react, feel, think. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen and unlike any experience I’ve ever been a part of. “Experience” Chimera is the perfect description. From the way it was originally released to the conversations it sparked to the connections we’ve made with each other as viewers and with Ash & Tyler as creators. I feel so fortunate to have been invited to this party and cannot wait to see the next phase. Who or what is Kyle? Why does the creatures voice sound like Kyle at times? What are the drops for? What are the pills for? Every time I watch it, I learn something new and find some new angle I hadn’t caught before. @@jennybrown2629 I’ve wondered those exact same questions . I felt the pills & eye drops were significant. I noticed the creature voice did sound like Tyler aka Kyle . I have so many new questions,thoughts and observations since I watched Experience Chimera I just haven’t had the time to write everything down. One thing I’ve noticed from the first viewing is the unique tattoos ( 3 dots one line ). I’ve thought all along those were symbolic of three stages of life (birth,death ,reincarnation) and the one vertical line I am starting to think that was a symbol of the merge. Right or wrong these are just some of my thoughts.
The hallmark of any brilliant writer is leaving the reader/watcher with more exciting questions, and wanting more!! I haven’t been this enthralled in a show since LOST! This NEEDS to get picked up by Netflix or some network/CZcams TV with a team who will uphold Ash’s artistic integrity! And, Tyler was the perfect actor because he allows us to connect with clues to the bigger picture as well as connect emotionally to his character. It’s like where in it with him. Was the building you were in a portal to a different dimension that needed the high frequency sound and asphyxiation of near death to transport Kyle? It seems that Kyle has been there before with old photos of a earlier life. The scalp scar makes me feel the alien being did surgery to control him. I first felt Kyle was a programmed killer that made each ten deaths to look like suicides. When he reaches the future dimensions, it seems like their was a previous agreement that Kyle no longer wants to participate in with the alien. It seems Kyle thought only he could time travel and finds out at the end, the aliens reach goes back to his time and tries to take him over!
It is fascinating at each step of the film, there can be multiple explanations or choices of film outcomes? Death or rebirth?
I went on quite a journey while watching the film. My thoughts started off at the surface level and then went deeper as the film progressed. Those X-Files vibes at the very beginning hooked me in. I thought that Kyle was investigating a series of deaths, and in doing so, he encountered the creature, who seemed to be tied to the deaths in some way. I initially wondered if Kyle was “simulating” his own death (in the bathtub) in order to lure the creature to the area so that it could be eliminated. Then halfway through the film, I started wondering if the creature was similar to Doctor Who’s Cybermen - cyborgs who forcefully and painfully convert human beings into becoming a Cyberman while also removing their human emotions and personalities. Then toward the end of the film, I started thinking about artificial intelligence. And by the closing credits, I began to wonder if the creature represented something more abstract, like the potential dangers of advanced technology on the human experience/condition/existence in the future - A.I. hunting down humans and trying to take over their lives. (LOL) It was a fun journey! Looking forward to the continuation of this story.

For Q&A… Hi Tyler & Ash curious if you both just set out to make a regular short film? Then when you were done created the whole concept of the way you would release Chimera by splitting it up & developing the whole interactive aspect of it? The Chimera experience is a truly wonderful experience! The visuals, sound, location & the excellent talent of Tyler Hynes , Ash Thorpe and team bring everything to life in such a mind blowing way…so many questions! Please share how the concept/this format of storyline came to be, how many times you did retakes of both the content & different locations and more importantly will there be more of this & when will we see it on the big screen to get the ultimate experience! Theory here is Kyle/Tyler represents the last human who has fought off Chimera’s merge but he is not willing to give in or up…under the floorboards is his partner/spouse who he is protecting so they can keep the human race populating. The children are his siblings. Chimera merge is mentally then transitions physically, Kyle’s fight from suicide was bone chilling and surreal. Kyle will not merge in the end, he is strong-the fight continues! Thanks gentlemen for keeping us on the edge! 👽🖤🎬🍿❤️👏👏

The cinematography adds so much to the atmospheric mystery of this short film. Tyler’s haircut, that mysterious ‘scar’ on his head, the austere hair cut, the lighting that is captured across his face. I thought he was an FBI agent at first but then had to rethink and imagine …what is this about? It is darker and deeper than I was prepared for. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
Unexpected surprise in the live premiere was the intro to the film in this platform...nice "technocolor" countdown with an impressive slowly building crescendo to the music. Yet another fresh take to this unique experience.

Tyler also who was the person(a lady) in the photo Kyle was holding while sitting on the plastic wrapped bed. It was like he knew exactly where the photo was, and he knew who that person was, and his hand was trembling while holding it and your leg was shaking and with 2 taps with your fingers you stopped the shaking. I’m so in awe of you in that scene, I felt your emotions just watching you, no spoken word. You are Tremendous!

From March 2nd, the first sprinkling of this new project to March 6th, V1.1.1 dropping to April 22nd, World Premiere...every step of this journey has been magnificent. The whole teams creativity and all the time they spent to create this project blows me away. 🙌💕 Big love.
After my Mulder and paranormal ramblings, I have other observations that I am curious about. At the beginning we see a pile of shoes, I counted them a few times and I think there are 10 pairs. Are they there to represent the 10 people or having them in a pile, representing a group, like a cult. We are left with the ambiguity of the deaths so there is a possibility that they did it together.
I feel like the intentional time of 11:11 and and the Chimera symbol, tattoos of the ellipsis is connected. The ellipsis can mean an unfinished journey but 11:11 can mean a new beginning.
Question...who decided on the image to represent the project of Chimera? The ellipsis can represent something left unsaid, something unfinished which you guys touched on in the q&a with leaving some things ambiguous for the viewers. Wondering more about the origin.
Love being able to come back to watch this incredible film. Always noticing something new. The visuals and music elements told the story. Every single detail, every frame that was filmed had a specific purpose.
Having watched this incredible production several times, I took a different approach this time.......I listened to the audio only. I could follow the story along in my head...but the sound!! It is very surreal. And you hear things that you might have overlooked because maybe you were 'watching too hard' the first few times. Give it a try....audio only.....close your eyes and turn up the volume.
Hope you make more of this movie, it was veery good! kept me on edge of seat, but I want more PLEASE!!!!
Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I admit that I thought it was pretty brilliant and badass to drop the pieces as they did, let it be a singular experience and then have it disappear. It's not that I did not want this art to be shared infinitely as it deserves all eyes on it, but there was something cool about the moment we all shared as a collective in the way it was done.

What made you decide to cover things up in plastic? Is there a meaning behind it? Including the plastic Kyle has to cut through in order to get to the rest of the house?
What happened exactly after Kyle went underwater, then wakes up and is no longer in the bathtub? Is he still in the same house but in the future or just in a different location?
When Kyle puts the water drops, we see a vision of him on the ground. I thought he was remembering the past but it happens later on. Is he sensing the future?

I would love to know what inspired the storyline and the universal language of numbers 11:11 in particular.
The audio was a story in itself I found myself replaying eyes closed just listening to the sound, trying to fully experience the frequencies and even the tones in our beloved Tyler's voice. What a blessing you are to us Tyler.
The visuals were magnificent. Every time I rewatched I found or thought I saw something new. My rabbit hole was certainly getting deeper.

The contrast between the vibrant colors and music of the into and the stark colors of the desert was phenomenal.
Was the disparity of 11:00pm and 11:00am between v.1.1.1. and v.1.1.2 intentional and meaningful or perhaps a missed edit. Not trying to call you out if it was a whoops..I love when there are those kind of things...brings humanity to a project. If intentional then it adds to the questions. 🤔 I like it either way.
Did you expect so many diverging (and converging) theories and such attention to detail from the audience? Did the audience come up with theories you’d not thought of, or did the immersion follow the course you’d hoped/expected?
Captivating…it took me a few minutes before I could even move when it ended…the scenery was so dramatic…I could not take my eyes off. A.I. is just around the corner and it looks scary. You were perfection from head to toe. The suit, the shoes, the haircut…all added to the dramatics of this short film. You were so good and it was amazing to see you in such a dramatic role.
Thank you Tyler and Ash for including us in this most interesting, brilliant film. A little creepy, had to put my hands over my face. Wow! Amazing work from both of you! All the questions still exist for me. What are the three dots, was Kyle surprised each time he 'woke up' from the experience only to face a new one, was this something he's fought since his childhood? Were his siblings aliens? Is it mankind becoming machines?
Chimera was everything I had been waiting for. Such incredible masterminds behind it all. Ty your acting went above and beyond for this role. My favorite part about it was discussing what was next and how we all became passionate about it and our community became so much more. We all came together and discussed and shared ideas and theories and I loved every single minute of it. The clues within, each moment, like another piece of the puzzle to discover. I cannot say enough great things about Chimera. Ash, Ty, and everyone involved I cannot wait for the premiere because I was sad it ended. I missed what we were becoming 😊

Amongst my discussions with others of this community I have cultivated new friendships because we started talking about CHIMERA together! You all so incredibly talented, but you have created friendships and this sense of community where it’s an open place that’s received so much love. First, thank you so much for doing this. From concept to the way it was presented to us, to its interactivity was next level cool. While we celebrate the World Premiere here on CZcams and rightly so, experiencing it firsthand will remain, I believe, a cherished moment between all the creators and the those of us that got to #ExperienceChimera firsthand. We ‘became’ unalterably connected. Secondly, to all the creators - you guys rock. Seriously. Your creativity, imagination, technical skills, artistry, and love for the project was evident in every single frame. The cinematography…the effects…the sound, I mean c’mon THE SOUND!! Thank you all. 🖤
My questions: (forgive me please if this runs long)
1. The thank you/comment scroll (V.1.1.4) was 11 minutes, 11 seconds. Was this intentional or happenstance? 😉
2. Do the tattoos suggest markings of ‘the chosen’…the ones to 'become'?
3. My thinking has been that the eyedrops, pills, sound machine acted as a portal to another dimension in an attempt to re-create the ‘suicide victims’ who weren’t in fact suicides but rather humans that have crossed over into become sentient-like beings themselves (ie. perhaps the ones floating behind the sentient being).
4. Kyle’s scar suggests he was implanted with what I surmise is a device that malfunctioned and is now the flaw in his programming. This is preventing him from ‘becoming’…for now.
5. Does Kyle say ‘damn’ when he awakens in the barn, meaning that he knows he has not crossed over? Is this due to flaw in the programming?
6. The ‘sever link’ scene is important too (in my view). Has Kyle thwarted the being’s attempt to over-take him?
7. We see the ‘being’ in the floor…Kyle senses its presence. (NGL that one freaked me out)
8. Can I just say that my favourite shots are of Kyle’s eyes when he senses the being. The light playing off his face is incredible. Also the shot when Kyle is framed by the window and he walks away and he’s not inside, he’s outside. Ash - you’re incredible. No words man, no words.
9. The ‘being' itself. To the VFX guys, I struggle to find the words to describe how off the charts crazy cool your creation is.
10. When Kyle says ‘I can’t’, I initially interpreted that to mean ‘I can’t’ as in ‘I won’t’ but on multiple viewings I wonder(ed) does it mean ‘I can’t’ because he physically can’t ‘become’ because of the flaw in programming or ‘he won’t’ because his purpose to remain in human form and stop the rest of humankind from being overtaken.
11. This one I wrestle with constantly (see #9): is Kyle trying to ‘become’ or is he attempting to save the world from being morphed into these beings. Is the goal to ‘become’ as in ‘we are all becoming’. Is ‘becoming’ nirvana or a dystopian nightmare? To this day, I haven’t landed on a theory that sticks (therein lies the beauty of Chimera 🖤).
12. The clock turns 11:12 and Kyle is in the tub (having returned through the time portal or never having left??). Still so many questions.
13. In the last scenes, Kyle’s eyes go black. We hear thrashing about in the tub - did Kyle become one of them…then we hear gasps. Does that mean death or does it mean life? Does this mean the continuation of Chimera (I sure hope so!!)

It's been a minute, so seeing it again may cause even us veterans to pick up new things! It will be so much fun to see what the newbies come up with! I agree about the headphones; first couple of times I didn't wear them and heard so much more when I finally did. I actually put it on my calendar so I get reminded and don't get caught up in Saturday afternoon 'stuff'.
