    Thanks for taking the time to make these how to videos. They are very helpful. If you ever come across 2003 Subaru impreza, I would be interested to see any kind of work on it. Another one would be 2000 saturn lw1. I love learning and these videos are very useful.

    The average person doesn’t have a lift and the angle to get leverage with a pry bar. So there’s that

  • @lakecortes
    @lakecortes Před rokem

    Another way to remove the cv joint for people that has no lift is taking a ratchet strap and trying to do it from outside.

    You used nothing but a pry bar? What length? I have tried multiple times to remove/replace and no luck had to end up cutting shaft. Also doing in driveway without a lift. Any help would be appreciated.

    Good presentation , lots of pieces in there to juggle , a second hand would have gotten rid of the bungies , I got a massive oil leak on drivers side engine , anything common go wrong on that side that you have seen before ?

    I replaced both axles on my 2004 Trailblazer, but pulling the axles out was a PAIN! When i was using the pry bar to peck the axles out, it took more than a Little Peck. I really had to put some power behind it and it took more than just 1 Wack! It was more like 3 to 5 Hard Wacks. Is this normal or did i do something wrong? All the videos on here show it being easy to pull them out.

      I have helped replace the va shafts on an older Honda that took a reverse hammer about 5 sacks from my son who is a big boy to get the damned things to finally pop out…then did a jeep Cherokee where they just fell out with the bearing assembly…so I’m curious if trailblazers are a pain to get out too or not….

      @@w8what575 Mine were hard to get out because the little C-clips on the ends were stretched out and kept getting caught on the spider gears. Yours probably won't be hard to get out because what happened to me rarely happens. It's not a bad job, just plan it on a day off. That way you'll have plenty of time so you can do the job slowly. Really though, it's not a bad job. You can do this!!!

    You didn't replace the seal on the inside. Did it leak at some point after replacing the CV axle with the old seal?

    I had the same problem and did the same repair to bad it didn’t help the overall vehicle. Mine was a pc. of garbage, so sad 😞 it looked nice, but nicely nice doesn’t get you from point A to point B.

    so on my way home from work i lost complete breaks i got home by pumping the breaks and once home i noticed that driver tire had a lot of grease and mess along with metal from grinding, 2 days before this happened I was getting a rubbing sound when i turn the wheel.

    When you had the pry bar on the inside of the inner axle joint, I saw that the axle moves around in the disconnect alot. How much movement is normal?

    • @armedrealtorakasheepdog6914
      @armedrealtorakasheepdog6914 Před 4 lety +2

      coffeefish I don’t have any movement in mine and I’m standing here doing it even as we speak

    • @coffeefish
      @coffeefish Před 4 lety +1

      @@armedrealtorakasheepdog6914 I thought I had a grinding bearing in my axle disconnect. With a small mirror, I watched the axle for movement as I pried up on the inner CV joint. I don't see any movement in the axle (only a very small section of the axle is visible behind that inner joint.) I moved to the driver's side and did the same thing and I saw lots of movement in the axle. Now I'm thinking that the grinding is coming from the front diff and not the disconnect.

    Are the R/F CV joints on a chevy trailblazer notorious for going bad? I bought a used 06 a week ago friday and just changed the front brakes when I found that its R/F CV joint was bad, I replaced the front brakes because I heard a noise and thought it was the brakes because the same kind of nose on a previous car I had was fixed with new front brakes (the brakes on the trailblazer needed to be changed because their thickness were about 1/16" - 1/8", hardly any "meat" on them at all)?

    Was there any CV axle seals or no?

  • @armedrealtorakasheepdog6914

    My only criticism would be when you put the lower ball joint back together you didn’t show how to do it. Mine is spinning so I’m assuming that I need to replace it because I don’t see any place to grab it while I’m tightening it.

      Look underneath the nut, the thread piece has a 8mm hex on it. Put the her in it and use a Cresent wrench on the nut and tighten

    I need to remove driver side axle, so this wasn't helpful. No room to pry on driver side, and renting a slide hammer tool to go behind inner cv joint also didn't get it out. Now what?
