This brings back some memories. We were rolling out Lenovo M58Ps (very similar design, but slightly better specs) when I first started working in IT. They originally had XP, but we eventually upgraded them to W7 and installed more RAM. Folks still complained about them being slow on W7, even with the extra RAM.
I recall similar rollouts in a large office facility where we deployed these small desktop ThinkCentres that were notorious for poor graphics performance. Thanks for sharing your ThinkCentre memories! :) I also own a ThinkCentre M58p, and while it’s not perfect, it’s a significant improvement over the M57. The most noticeable upgrade in the M58p is its graphics performance. In my benchmark test, the M57 managed only 12 FPS, whereas the M58p achieved 62 FPS. It’s not ideal for Windows 7, but it gets by with a bit of effort.
I'd check the Internet Archive is you need an OS or drivers - it's great for refurbishing old hardware. I post lots of that kind of stuff to my archive page if your're interested.
I kind of like to keep this old systems pretty standard since I have way better systems to run Windows 10, but thanks for the suggestion. The biggest weakness is the graphics so I'd rather use an SSDs on my i5 or i7 systems that already run Windows 10, but would really benefit from the SSD upgrade. Windows XP is a great OS to have around when I want to test out old software or hardware that won't run on Win 10. Always appreciate your feedback 👍😸

put a Core 2 Quad and SSD in there and you will have a rocket to run WIn10 😄👍
