  • Videos showing two Ariens mowers the IKON XD 52" MODEL 915266 (KOHLER ENGINE) and the 915267 (KAWASAKI ENGINE). Both are supposed to be the same except for the motor but there are major quality differences between lowes version and dealer.

    Based on my experience, the choice between these two mowers is clear, go with the Kawasaki engine. I purchased a Cub Cadet XT1 46 lawn tractor with the Kohler 7000 Series 22 horse engine. I decided to check the air filter well ahead of the maintenance schedule at 15 hrs. I was shocked to find the amount of dust and debris getting past my low-hour air filter. I contacted Kohler and sent photos. Kohler sent me a new filter housing and filter. This replacement failed as well. Kohler claimed they offer 3 grades of filter for this engine. The filter on my Cub Cadet was the minimal filter. I questioned why Kohler would do such a thing as sell engines with less than adequate filtration. The answer, which they did not give, is a price point. A cheaper filter system allows Kohler to underprice Kawasaki and Briggs and Stratton, thereby getting more of their Kohler engines into more mowers. After I sent Kohler photos of the second failure, they refused to do anything more until I had an engine failure. The engine did indeed fail with only 83 hrs. Fortunately, the dealer took the mower back. I purchased a Husqvarna Z254F with a 23 Kawasaki engine. Mr. Jones, please do another video. Open the filter of this on these two mowers and show the difference. Show the valve covers. I think the results of this comparison will be all anyone needs to make their choice.

    Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability czcams.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

I went to Lowes and bought the Arien's XD 52 with the Kawasaki engine, mine looks just like the one you bought from your dealer with the nice padded seat and rubberized grips on the handles. I did order the rubber mat and the Ariens hitch for mine from Amazon. also you mention the key was left on so it shows more hours, is this confirmed? some of the older hour meters would do that, but most new ones have a sensor wire wrapped around one of the coil wires and it will only log hours when it's actually running as it picks up the pulse form the coil wire, maybe yours is different. not sure if i'd feel good about paying more for the "dealer" version, especially if they're trying to pull one over on you. I don’t know but your lowes might be on that hustle
    I got one from lowes today in ottawa and it’s exactly the same as your dealer one. Also it was 4700$ before tax

    Bought one this year from a dealer and it’s much better than the one you have from a dealer Kawasaki motor on mine bigger front tires control panel configuration totally different from yours is it possible what you get in Canada a different version mine is a better version than Lowe’s. No way for any reason would I recommend Lowe’s.

    The seat on the “Lowes” Ikon machine can be adjusted so it does not hit the motor. It was assembled wrong. Common problem.

  • @SzymczykProductions
    @SzymczykProductions Před 2 lety +2

    The seat is because you are looking at different year models...other than that they are identical. You just paid more from dealer. Also I just paid $3,699 from Lowes for the "dealer" version. False information!!

    The one I purchased from Lowe's is exactly like the one you purchased from the dealer except for the engine which was a Kawasaki. I like the Kawasaki engine better too. Lowe's must have screwed you.

    I got one at Lowes in 2021 and I got arm rests on mine. Also the seat thing that you say does nothing. It's probably there so if you want to install it on that seat. The only reason they would put one on there. Idk why anyone would put something on a mower that literally don't do anything.

  • @Conservative43

    I got the one you got from the dealer at lowes and paid half of that in the US. That’s terrible!

  • @EricGibson1
    @EricGibson1 Před 22 dny

    These are different models. The 1 you have from lowes is a smaller chassis and engine combo with the same size 52" deck. Lowes sells the same bigger 1 too. At leaat the lowes in my areas do as they have both the smaller and bigger 1 plus the onyx one. 😂

    I bought my ARIENS EDGE 42 at LOWES; and it looks like the one on the website. I think your LOWES put the incorrect seat on your mower. Also, there is some assembly at LOWES, so the seat might have been put on without the proper adjustment. That know looks like a lockdown knob, as opposed to an adjust knob. Bummer. You might try calling ARIENS.

    I'm surprised so many people don't know the differences between the different models Ariens makes or do their research and remember things On the Edge series Vs the Ikon series Vs the Apex series vs the Zenith series. My bad if someone already pointed this out HOWEVER the Lowes Ikon 52 has the wrong items installed on it they do not even belong on the Ikon series, That seat you're complaining about IS NOT A Ikon series seat its from the cheaper lower end model the Edge series Ariens sells same thing goes with the rear tires there also from the Edge series and installed on this Ikon the tires are the same size however, but there a cheaper lower grade of tire Vs the Ikon tires that it should of came with it.
    Simply look at a Dealer Model 915266 and model 915267 the only different item is the engine that's it. I'd be returning the Lowes Ikon 52 if I where you.

    The one with the Kawasaki motor completely has the wrong seat in it. It us made for the Ariens Edge line not the icon line. If you look very close you can tell that it is the wrong seat and that they put it together wrong at The Big Box store because there isn't no room on each side of that seat for your leg or your butt. It is supposed to be 3 inches higher like the other one.

  • @SzymczykProductions
    @SzymczykProductions Před 2 lety +3

    Also, those grips are Gravely grips (same company) and they are $24 in stock on their website. You got an outdated seat and worse motor from the dealer and paid more. This video has a lot of false information!!!!

    You guys are getting ripped off in Canada. I bought my at Lowes in the United States and it's exactly like the one you bought at the dealer. The only thing different with my Ariens Ikon xd 52' is I have a Kawasaki engine. I'm not sure about pricing, since there is a rate conversion.
    I believe the one you bought at Lowes is call an "Edge" in the US.

    I’ll bet you could upgrade that seat for less than $800. If so, it’s looking like the bargain of the duo, especially with Kawasaki engine.

    “Leaving a key on..” DOES NOT change the run hours on a timer. Crazy talk there. It measures the time the motor is running, so unless that mower sat and idled for 26hours (since you say it never cut grass) the timer should say zero. 6:39

    • @rudijones
      @rudijones  Před rokem

      Leaving the key in the on position will increase the hours on the meter even if engine is not running. Made a short to clarify. Thanks czcams.com/users/shortsMeNSew4j-uA?feature=share
